Bob's Burgers Is Evolving Into the Series It Was Always Meant to Be
Image
Bob's Burgers has always been a family-friendly show with wholesome family messaging. While the show has less adult humor, that has enabled it to expand its family-oriented themes and stories. Kindness and acceptance help make Bob's Burgers stand apart from other animated TV series.

The following contains light spoilers for Bob's Burgers Season 14, Episode 5, "Bully-lieve It or Not," which debuted Sunday, Nov. 5 on Fox.

Bob's Burgers began as a comedy that captivated audiences through its quirky and chaotic characters, unhinged humor and bizarre adventures of the Belcher family. However, over time the series has taken a different approach: a focus on musical numbers and weighty moral dilemmas, with much less adult humor. Bob's Burgers is moving in a more heartfelt direction, with wholesome family messaging present in almost every episode.

But while original fans of the show lament the absence of a more maniacal Louise Belcher or seeing Bob Belcher...

Koen De Bouw, Thure Riefenstein, and Ella-June Henrard in U-235 (2019)
Feeder announce new double album, “Black / Red” | Set for release on 5th April 2024 | Listen to the powerful track “Elf” & see UK tour dates!
Koen De Bouw, Thure Riefenstein, and Ella-June Henrard in U-235 (2019)
Feeder have announced a new double album Black / Red for release on 5th April 2024 on Big Teeth Music via Townsend Music / Absolute Label Services. Black / Red completes a trilogy of albums joined to 2022’s UK Top 5 album Torpedo. New double A-side single ‘Playing With Fire’ / ‘Elf’ / is out now.

‘Elf’, which lead singer and guitarist Grant Nicholas describes as “a call to arms”, and ‘Playing With Fire’s “roller coaster ride of self-discovery”, reaffirm the band’s knack for sticky melodies and livewire riffs. Songs across Black / Red carry with them the same sense of wide-open space, freedom and possibility, aligned with an optimistic energy that first lit the fuse for Torpedo. Cohesive and connected rather than a concept, Black / Red is a continuation of Torpedo’s conversation but at the same time a full stop on a prolific songwriting period that encapsulates a very specific moment in time for the band.

Hildur Guonadottir, Nicholas Britell Win Top Honors at World Soundtrack Awards
Image
Hildur Guðnadóttir and Nicholas Britell took top honors at the 20th World Soundtrack Awards on Saturday during the Ghent Film Festival.

Iceland-born, Berlin-based Guðnadóttir was named Film Composer of the Year for her Oscar-winning score for “Joker.” She won last year’s TV Composer of the Year for her Emmy-winning score for the HBO series “Chernobyl.”

American composer Britell was named TV Composer of the Year for his music for the second season of HBO’s “Succession.” He was last year’s Wsa award winner for Film Composer of the Year for “If Beale Street Could Talk” and “Vice,” so Britell and Guðnadóttir essentially switch places from last year’s honors.

Wsa Discovery Of the Year went to American-born, Paris-based composer Bryce Dessner for his music for “The Two Popes.” The Wsa Public Choice Award, chosen by fans from around the world, went to Madrid-born, Los Angeles-based Alfonso G. Aguilar...

Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster in L'odyssée du sous-marin Nerka (1958)
Official Us Trailer for Submarine Thriller 'Torpedo U 235' from Belgium
Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster in L'odyssée du sous-marin Nerka (1958)
"We've got to pilot this ourselves?" Epic Pictures has released an official Us trailer for a submarine thriller called Torpedo U 235, which is an amalgamation of two other titles for this: Torpedo (the original Belgian title) and U235 (the sub's name). The film is about a small team of Belgian resistance fighters that kidnap a German submarine during WWII and accept a mission to bring uranium, needed for the Manhattan Project, from the Belgian Kongo to New York. Based on a true story, of course. This looks like it has some awesome action in addition to the wicked cool story of some Belgians wrangling a stolen German sub for a top secret mission. This stars Koen De Bouw, Thure Riefenstein, Ella-June Henrard, Joren Seldeslachts, Sven De Ridder, Stefan Perceval, and Bert Haelvoet. The dialogue is cheesy, but the rest seems solid. Here's the official trailer (+ posters) for Sven Huybrechts' Torpedo...

Film directors urged to “make something special” by European distributors and festival experts
’Make Cinema Great Again!’ took place at CONNeXT in Ghent.

Film directors need to have more ambition and a unique cinematic vision to attract sales agents, distributors and ultimately a theatrical audience, agreed a group of European film industry experts at a debate at Flanders Image’s CONNeXT event in the Belgian city of Ghent on Tuesday (October 8).

“I’m looking for something singular, something different,” said Karin Beyens, head of acquisitions at France’s Diaphana Distribution. “Last year we bought Mid 90s and Girl, two films that give you a certain experience. You feel something when you see these films.
