Prassthanam - set in Maleehabad, Prassthanam is a political thriller with some impressive performances. Baldev Pratap Singh (Sanjay Dutt) inherits a political empire more by default as the scion of the family is felled and in the process, has to marry the latter's widow. As the stepfather, he adores his stepson and grooms him to be eligible for being his worthy heir, much to the disappointment of his own son from the marriage who decides to unleash mayhem. Baldev will have to wither the storm of many twists and turns that will test his love, loyalty, leadership and resilience. The lessons we learnt from our holy scriptures are mere ideals, one's actions in reality are guided more by his needs and desires, and the ties of blood are stronger than these ideals.
Remade from a Telugu film of 2010 by the same name, Prassthanam has a sombre and mature performance from Sanjay Dutt, who returns to a role that he has so often done in the past, that of a leader facing the test of time. Ali Fazal is superlative and Jackie Shroff is silent yet strong. The film isn't your average pot boiler although it has some predictable twists in the tale. The product is slick and shiny with an element of suspense kept alive until the very end. It could have been 20 minutes shorter probably that could have rendered Prassthanam to be faster paced and punchy. But director Deva Katta takes the film the whole nine yards, sucking some effectiveness out of it.

Prassthanam is director Deva Katta's adaptation of his 2010 Telugu directorial with the same name. The story revolves around MLA Baldev Pratap Singh (Sanjay S Dutt) and the complex relationships within his family.
There isn't much novelty in the story itself, the director and screenplay writer Deva Katta creates quite a few twists to keep you engaged.
Prassthanam manages to hold your interest in parts due to its fast paced developments. But it also suffers from unwanted songs and just too many conflicts, happening all at once.
Sanjay Dutt gives a genuinely good performance., sanjay dutt's fans will love his role.👍
PRASSTHANAM = some great performances and a fine first half. But the ending of the movie is dull..!!😔

Making remake is a trend nowadays, its a remake of 2010's Movie with same name.
This movie is multistarer film so you won't get bore if you like political story, the whole story talks about morality..
First Ali Faizal performance is nice a like way he acted and sanjay the minister somewhere he was good somewhere he was brilliant but this is for political drama fans. People who really like political drama this movie is for you.
Some people will say bad movie and another will okay okay. I'll say good movie.

Overall story 6/10
Choice of artists 10/10
Acting level 10/10
Would only recommend if you want to watch some veteran acting skills, Sanju Baba did it really good, Jackie Dada though didn't get much screen time, played his part with at most perfection. Other notable cast includes Ali Fazal, mid movie appearances by Manisha ji and Chunky Pandey. But I also liked the protagonist role played by Satyajeet Dubey. You would seriously want him burn in the hottest hell for the role he portrayed, he did it really good. And of course, the final twist in the story wasn't expected.

Nothing in this movie can be appreciated.
It's just a waste of money and time

Well Sanjay Dutt's expressions are so genuine & it was nice to see his powerful punch in this movie! His acting as tough guy surely shows prowess here in this movie. Ali Faisal's acting is top notch also! It was a nice movie to watch. A little over dramatic at times, but hey it's a political thriller - so what do you expect. Exciting was the acting by all of the star ensemble!! Please see it - you won't be disappointed!!

One of the most underrated movie and also one of the best Bollywood political drama film. I know its a remake but its a good remake like kabir singh. If you really enjoy political revenge drama and some different storyline so yes this movie is for you.

"Prassathanam"had a very good script, but it was very very very poorly made and as a result it turned out to be a disaster.
Besides the script everything was terribly terrible about the film,be it the direction, screenplay, acting editing and length .
As in most Hindi movies the songs were totally unwanted and reduced the already shoddy level to a further low.
Somehow in order to emphasise their points, the main characters found it necessary to scream and shout at the top of their lungs!
Everyone's (except Faisal Ali to a certain extent)acting was useless, especially Sunjay's younger son Vivaan.
I went to see this movie because Sunjay Dutt who made this film had once made an excellent picture called "Kaante".
Like they say in the stock market"Past performance is no indication of the future"
This movie has to be in the 10 worst movies of 2019.
1/10

Nothing new. It's a political drama. Each of the character played by the artist are awesome. Sanjoy Dutt, Ali Fazal and Jackie Shroff did great job. Fully entertaining movie.

Everyone is praising Ali Fazal and Sanjay Dutt, but one can expect good performances from them. The real surprise was the guy who played Vivaan! This is the first time I saw him in a movie but I remembered him from Pizza Hut ads. He was really convincing as a gullible power hungry and envious kid.
Cut the unnecessary 20 mins from the second half and you have a solid movie

Add few non sense dialogues, one or two item number, cast some A listed actor and one good looking actress, and little bit a script related to Mafia... And there you go, the movie.

I don't know what is going on and why it's going on. The movie has a great plot but the cast doesn't do justice to the story.

None of the actors were interested. Only Ali Fazal was rocking. Somewhere director got confused while remaking his own movie. Worst set up. All actors were wasted.

#FinalVerdict...
The only smart thing about Director Deva Katta's film is its title (meaning REIGN). Might win praise from the critics & find some flavour with the gentry but a dry subject like politics finds limited patronage. Politics, besides movies & cricket, is a favourite topic of Indians, but the talk on politics has reached a crescendo these days. Also, remakes are dicey business. No matter how much you improvise on your new script, comparisons are bound to be made. The power-play depicted in Prassthanam is praiseworthy & as a result of which writer/director Deva Katta will receive plaudits but the film is intense & grim and it won't find acceptance from family audiences & those who prefer escapist/candyfloss cinema. Prassthanam gives a microscopic view of what goes into politics. It's not a bad film, it's just not good. The story has nothing new to talk of, since the genre has been over-exploited. Lengthy run time, slow pacing & too many subplots and a disappointing finale are major hiccups. Also, Deva Katta's direction is quite simple.
The movie has a sprawling canvas & it takes time to figure out the characters & their motivations but certain sequences are excessively stretched (Editor: Ballu Saluja). The songs are utterly misplaced & the dialogues (Farhad Samji) are clunky. Mahesh Shankar's background score elevates the situations considerably. Cinematography (Ravi Yadav) captures the mood of the film to perfection. Abbas Ali Moghul's action is a bit gory. Pallavi Bagga and Suman Roy Mahapatra's production design is average. Prassthanam is also held up by a string of credible performances. Sanjay Dutt delivers a bravura performance. Ali Fazal makes the most of his well-written character. His most sensitive portrayal to date. The confidence with which Satyajeet Dubey carries off his part is sure to win him plaudits. Chunky Panday is outstanding in a role that fits him like a glove. Manisha Koirala doesn't get much scope but she handles her part with flourish. Amyra Dastur acts with conviction and makes her presence felt. Jackie Shroff is, as always, bankable but his character is underdeveloped with hardly any dialogues. Chahatt Khanna and Divinaa Thackur did well. Other actors who stand out are Deepraj Rana (S P Narang), Zakir Hussain (Majid Maqbool) and Annup Sonii. Ishita Raj looks hot in the item number.
All said & done, Prassthanam is, at best, an average movie with an overwhelming sense of pointlessness & familiarity. It will meet with diverse reactions. Those into realistic cinema might like the film, while those who swear by candyfloss entertainment will skip it for sure.

The story line is old no doubt but the acting of all super actors makes it so good. Ali Fazal stands out in the entire movie. Music is good and according to the situation
