It was not called the Air Force in WW II. It was the Army Air Corp. The USAF was created in 1947 as its own branch.
While researching the making of The Memphis Belle (1944), Eric Nelson discovered 34 reels, roughly 15 hours of the raw 16mm color footage William Wyler shot to create The Memphis Belle. The reels were in a national archive in Washington, D.C. Some of these unseen reels were restored and put together to make this documentary, The Cold Blue (2018). The footage was transferred to 4K and reformatted to fill a modern wide-screen image. The commentary was provided by surviving veterans of the 8th Air Force.
