Ella Balinska, best known for her lead role in the “Charlie’s Angels” reboot, has boarded meta action horror film “The Horror Game,” which will commence production later this year.

Greg McLean, who directed “Jungle” starring Daniel Radcliffe as well as the “Wolf Creek” series, is set to direct from a script penned by Gus Krieger. Further casting announcements are expected soon.

In “The Horror Game,” while desperate to find her missing sister, a young woman (Balinska) and her three best friends find themselves trapped inside a virtual reality game where every level forces its players to survive a different genre of a horror movie. When they learn that dying in the game means dying in real life, the friends are forced to hack, slash and battle their way to the toxic mastermind behind it all.

Ella Balinska of the Blumhouse horror thriller Run Sweetheart Run, the 2019 Charlie’s Angels movie, the recently released thriller Skincare, and the short-lived Netflix Resident Evil series, has signed on to star in an apocalyptic horror movie called Monsters, and Deadline reports that Voltage Pictures will be presenting the global distribution rights to potential buyers at the American Film Market in Las Vegas next week. Glenise Mullins has written the screenplay and will be directing the film, which is expected to go into production in January.

This will be the feature directorial debut for Mullins, who has previously worked as a writer on the TV shows The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Outer Range, The Continental, Warrior, Surface, and Star Trek: Discovery. After captivating audiences in Run Sweetheart Run, Ella Balinska is stepping into the eerie world of horror once again as she takes the lead in the upcoming apocalyptic horror film Monsters. Like in Run Sweetheart Run, she'll find herself once again on the run from a terrifying threat.

Glenise Mullins, known for writing for TV shows such as Star Trek: Discovery, Surface, The Continental, Outer Range and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, wrote the script and will be directing. The cameras are reportedly set to start rolling sometime in January 2025.

After battling a vampire in Run Sweetheart Run and various monsters in Netflix’s short-lived “Resident Evil” series, Ella Balinska will next star in a horror movie titled, well, Monsters.

Deadline reports this morning that Voltage Pictures has “taken global rights” to the apocalypse horror movie, which centers on “zombie-like creatures.” Deadline notes, “Voltage will launch global sales for the film at the American Film Market, which runs November 5-10 in Las Vegas.”

Glenise Mullins (“Outer Range”) writes and directs the upcoming monster movie.

The latest original horror movie from Dread is Last Night at Terrace Lanes, a bowling-themed horror movie that was just released onto VOD outlets this past Tuesday, January 16.

Bloody Disgusting has just unveiled the new trailer online. The titular initials stand for the International Space Station and is the prime setting for this film. The mood starts friendly enough and showcases the crew of both American and Russian missions living in the structure in perfect harmony. Unbeknownst to them, hell is about to break loose on the planet below. As both crew teams witness vast explosions taking place on the surface of Earth, confusion, sadness, desperation and anger overcome the crew, and as they each receive extreme orders from their governments, the peace within the station dissipates.

Many of the actors in The Hunger Games are familiar faces. Actor Dayo Okeniyi appeared as Danny Dyson in Terminator Genisys alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke. Okeniyi also made an appearance in horror movies Run Sweetheart Run and Fresh, and he starred in the 2022 biographical sports drama Rise. He's set to take part in an upcoming TV series called Dark Matter, starring Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly.

In The Hunger Games, Okeniyi portrayed Thresh, the male Tribute from District 11 and Rue's District partner. While Okeniyi gets a modest amount of screen time in The Hunger Games, he nevertheless brings an intensity to the role thanks to his strong presence. And although Thresh's role in The Hunger Games is quite small, he's anything but insignificant.

Now playing in theaters, Universal’s Renfield uses the original Universal Monsters classic Dracula (1931) as the jumping off point for a brand new adventure, dissecting the not-quite-healthy relationship between Dracula and his loyal servant, R.M. Renfield. If you’ve seen it, you might’ve been curious by the images of Nicholas Hoult‘s Renfield dancing in the streets over the end credits.

For the film’s release, Hoult took to Twitter to share the full dance sequence that didn’t make the final cut. The scene comes after Renfield’s triumphant battle with the Lobos at Mulate’s restaurant, an event that inspired Dracula’s (Nicolas Cage) beleaguered familiar to change his ways. Sony has revealed that 3000 Pictures’ “Where the Crawdads Sing” will open in China beginning Nov. 25, a rare booking for a Hollywood film as the nation has cut back on foreign releases.

Ella Balinska, who plays Cherie, recently sat down with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss putting a female lens on a genre that usually focuses on the male perspective.

“[Director] Shana [Feste] can speak to this better than I, but I do know she wrote this from a place of experience,” Balinska revealed. “I think she wrote it in three days. It was a complete catharsis for her when she wrote it and there were so many things that happened to this poor character that I think every audience member can pull from. She gets her period in the film and that otherwise would be portrayed as something which is laughed at or displayed with a slightly more negative light.”

There are real-world problems women regularly face throughout the screenplay, such as being disbelieved when serious claims are made against powerful white men, fellow women standing by as men sexually harass other women, the police being useless, inaccessibility to menstrual products, and of course, the all-consuming nature of a ravenous patriarchal society. When you hear the premise to the new Prime Video and Blumhouse film "Run Sweetheart Run," you probably don't think of romance. However, that is apparently what sparked on its set during filming back in 2019 -- at least, according to star Ella Balinska. We recently spoke to her about her new horror film, which is now streaming, and she revealed that her best friend being on set helped her prepare for the exhaustive role.

Not only was it a scathing look at how dangerously misogyny can be wielded by abusive men, but despite the high-level concept, it felt deeply personal. That was intentional, as co-writer and director Shana Feste revealed in 2020 that the film was partially based on her own experience with assault.

Some of the most memorable horror movies are the ones that are willing to throw caution to the wind and embrace the full potential of the genre’s distinct unpredictability. They can teeter on the edge of being a cinematic gag and play around with our expectations on how they are supposed to go. Think of this year’s Barbarian or Significant Other to get some sense of what is in store for you with Run Sweetheart Run. While very much a beast all its own, both to its credit and detriment, it also feels like an odd marriage of those two prior works. A splashy genre film that wears a more grounded disguise before ripping it off to reveal its true self, it is overflowing with tonal and narrative flaws but still manages to arrive at something joyous.

Run Sweetheart Run is a timely, stylistic horror that launches on Prime Video this weekend, and to mark its release we had the pleasure in speaking to its two leading stars: the hero, Ella Balinska, and the villain, Pilou Asbæk. We've all likely been on bad dates. Most are so boring they are forgotten the next day. Some are so terrible they must be shared with friends as cautionary tales. And then there are those nightmarish enough that they become the stuff of horror movies. In Run Sweetheart Run, Cherie, an executive secretary and single mom played by Ella Balinska (Charlie's Angels) agrees to go on a blind date set up by her doting boss (Clark Gregg). After a romantic dinner, Cherie’s charming date Ethan (Pilou Asbæk) invites Cherie to his house for a nightcap. Instead of a romantic spark, she gets fire and brimstone instead. Soon, Cherie bolts out the door and flees for her life, running in the streets with her shoes off and her dress ripped. Prince Charming, it turns out, is a prince of darkness and Cherie will spend the night just trying to stay alive.

Ell Balinska doesn’t care much for method acting. When you play a character who spends the entirety of a movie running from a deranged killer who can smell your blood, that seems like a pretty healthy attitude. The 26-year-old Brit, whose mother is the former top model and Food Network host Lorraine Pascale, knows a thing or two about protecting yourself in the midst of a grueling career. The 22nd Screamfest Horror Film Festival’s just released its first wave of feature films screening this year. The 2022 festival will take place October 11-20 and will be held at the Tcl Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
