School Spirits will conclude its second season on Paramount+ in March, leaving just a few episodes left to go as the story continues to build up towards the finale. While the wait for episode 206 will be just a little longer, Cbr can exclusively unveil a sneak peek clip.

In the clip, Maddie (Peyton List) and the others begin to grow weary over the absence of Janet Hamilton (Jess Gabor). The tension is broken when visitors in "murder vans" arrive at the school, but this doesn't bring the answers that the group is expecting. Exclusive: Grammy-nominated rapper Logic has boarded dark heist comedy Above the Line as an executive producer.

Logic’s producing partner Michael Holland also joins the project as co-executive producer.

The dark comedy tapping into Hollywood angst is the second feature of writer, director, and producer Jeffrey Scott Collins, after debut Poor Greg Drowning.

Described as combining the world of Swingers with the sensibility of Pulp Fiction, the L.A.-based comedy follows six Hollywood hopefuls who are roped into a harebrained plan to steal the Best Picture awards of a despised producer who has screwed each of them over as they struggle to make it big.

The film stars Cedric The Entertainer (The Neighborhood and The Last O.G.), Sophia Ali (Uncharted and The Wilds), Gregg Henry (Guardians of the Galaxy and Raising Cain), Adhir Kalyan, Reno Wilson, John Way and Jamie Lee (Crashing).

Collins directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Jono Matt. Ian Michaels (of America’s Burning) produced the film under the banner of Green Step Productions, plus Kemma Filby & Walker Barnes (of Bob Trevino Likes It) under the banner of Seasick Studios. Collins also produced under his production banner, This Seems Reel Entertainment.

“I have been a massive fan of the project ever since Michael sent me the script,” said Logic. “Jsc and I have a mutual love for the dark noir comedies of the 90s that have influenced this project. I’ve loved infusing my creative input into this film, and the music in it, and I can’t wait for the world to see it on the big screen.”

Collins said the collaboration worked on a number of levels.

“His music is not only bold, edgy, and incredibly entertaining, which is what we are striving for with this film, but his albums have always had an impressive cinematic quality to them, which I’m drawn to,” he said.

“He is a huge cinephile, and nerd, and the world will soon see how talented he is as a filmmaker. His creative input on the script, the characters, as well as the music, has been invaluable and we couldn’t be more excited about his and Michael’s involvement in the film”.

Cedric The Entertainer, who has worked with Collins on first feature Poor Greg Drowning, as well as the movie Why Him?, will also serve as Executive Producer. Other Executive Producers include Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, and Lan Kisner.

Paramount+ today revealed the official trailer and premiere date for season two of its hit original drama series School Spirits. Produced by Awesomeness TV, the new season will debut on Thursday, January 30, with three episodes in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

The season will also launch exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK and Australia on January 31, and later in the year in additional markets. Following the premiere, new episodes of the eight-episode season will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays, on Paramount+.

At long last, the first look at Noah Hawley’s upcoming “Alien” series has arrived. The highly anticipated “Alien: Earth” will premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025.

“In 2020, Mother Earth is expecting,” a voiceover in the first teaser says. After showing an image of Earth moving and morphing, the camera then pans down to the darkness below the planet to reveal a Xenomorph. As the creature screams, the teaser cuts to a staticky transmission before revealing the name of this upcoming sci-fi thriller.

The movie has been doing well at the box office, pulling in $110 million worldwide so far, and now Paramount has decided to pull a new marketing stunt: as reported by Deadline, Paramount will let you watch the first 7 minutes of Smile 2 on this website – but to do so, you’ll have to smile into your webcam for the duration. As Deadline notes, “anywhere between a light smile to a full-out Cheshire Cat leer” will do. “If you’re thinking that you can somehow outsmart the tech, think again: The webpage, which flashes your image green upon smiling, expeditiously changes to flash a red outline at the drop of the smile.

Nintendo doesn't always do direct sequels with the Zelda series, but Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the few in the series, directly following 2017's Game of the Year winner, Breath of the Wild. With the success of both the games, and the arrival of the Switch 2 soon, Nintendo has the opportunity to do something extraordinarily rare in the franchise and make a Wilds trilogy. Exclusive: Lionsgate has closed a deal for Bryce Dallas Howard to direct All of Her, details of which are under wraps.

The feature project is written by Sarah Streicher based on an original story by Jurassic World filmmaker Colin Trevorrow and Streicher. The studio is currently seeking an actress to play the lead character, which encompasses multiple roles.

Metronome Film Company’s Trevorrow and Annys Hamilton will produce. Howard will also produce with her Nine Muses Entertainment.

Lost is experiencing a renaissance of sorts since finding a new streaming home on Netflix and the release of the Getting Lost documentary, where cast and crew members look back on the sensation of the ABC television series. It's been 14 years since Lost ended with its divisive series finale, and it remains one of the most culturally impactful shows of all time for its plot twists and character depth. Many shows have tried to replicate Lost's success in recent years, but nothing has quite lived up to its standard. One show, however, could've been as big as Lost if it was given the chance to let its story marinate: The Wilds.

Yellowjackets has bewitched viewers with its murder mysteries, young women's relationships and survival stories. With the cast heading into the wilderness to film the new season, the series will likely return in early 2025. Season 2 left fans on a cliffhanger, filled with unanswered questions. However, these burning questions will have to wait.

The gap between Seasons 2 and 3 can feel extremely long for eager fans. While a rewatch could be an option in the meantime, there are many other shows to explore as well. With the nostalgic love for teen dramas like Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries, the teen drama genre has been struggling when it comes to newer entries. While the early 2000s to mid-2010s had several long-running, beloved teen dramas, the streaming era has led to a rut for the genre, with most teen-centered shows struggling to find their footing. Despite several teen dramas premiering in the last five years, none have managed to maintain the audiences of their predecessors.

A big reason many prefer to rewatch old teen dramas than give newer shows a chance is the inevitable chance of an early cancelation. Mendes, who is best known for her work on the television series Riverdale, and the Outer Banks Cline will reportedly join Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Hauer-King in the horror movie reimagining. Sony’s reboot of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” has found its principal cast.

Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King are in talks to join the cast of the 1997 horror flick’s redux.

The original film followed four young friends bound by a tragic accident who are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac. The film became a cult classic, earned over $125 million worldwide and led to the sequel “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.” Original stars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are in talks to return.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Do Revenge”) is directing the film, which is written by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson off a draft by Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz is producing.

Sony Pictures will release the film in theaters on July 18, 2025.

“Riverdale” alum Mendes most recently starred in romantic comedies “Upgraded” and “Música.

NBC is officially going to court with Suits: L.A., handing the Stephen Amell-starring spinoff a series order. A network rep tells TVLine that it has not yet been determined if the offshoot will air as soon as midseason or be held for the 2025-26 season.

Set in the world of the original USA Network drama, the project follows a brand new character, Ted Black (played by Arrow vet Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York who “has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” per the official synopsis.

“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” is building out its freshman class.

Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, and George Hawkins have all been cast as cadets in the upcoming Paramount+ series. The trio join previously announced stars Holly Hunter, who will play the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy, and Paul Giamatti, who will play the season’s main villain.

The official logline for the show states that it “introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”

Writer/director Parker Finn’s sequel to his 2022 horror film Smile (read our review Here, watch the movie Here) is aiming for an October 18th theatrical release date – and our friends at Bloody Disgusting have noticed that a viral marketing campaign for Smile 2 appears to be underway. Billboards promoting a previously unheard of pop star named Skye Riley have popped up in Los Angeles and London, there’s a Skye Riley fan account on Instagram, an official website – and these promos come with the promise that the new single “Blood on White Satin” is set to be released on June 18th. The suspicion is that Skye Riley is the lead character Naomi Scott of Aladdin and Charlie’s Angels plays in Smile 2, and that the first trailer for the film might be unveiled on June 18th.

If one were to rank all the major streaming services by queerness, Amazon Prime Video would be a pretty tough one to pin down.

On the one hand, you have to give credit where credit is due: One of the service’s very first stabs at original programming was “Transparent,” which in turn was one of the first shows to star a trans main character. That show now has a lot of baggage, but it’s hard to its understate historical significance.

Beyond the thorny topic of “Transparent,” Prime Video does have a good track record of releasing shows with LGBTQ characters and centering their narratives on queer themes; in particular, many of their shows focus on queer women, refreshingly avoiding the centering of gay men that defined queer TV for decades. This spring, the streamer dropped a phenomenal limited series retelling of David Cronenberg’s “Dead Ringers,” starring Rachel Weisz as twin lesbian gynecologists.

Few shows remain relevant following the end of their run, but Suits staged a big comeback last year when the first eight seasons landed on Netflix.

The former USA Network legal drama broke countless streaming records and reignited interest in the franchise.

Recognizing an opening to restart the franchise, NBC put a spinoff — Suits: L.A. — into development.

Despite being billed as a shoo-in for a pickup for the 2024-2025 TV season, it was absent from the recent wave of NBC series orders and the network’s fall 2024 schedule.

Thankfully, the lack of pickup isn’t bad news because NBC has yet to watch the Suits L.A. pilot.

“We’re excited about this. It’s a pilot and we’ll be screening it in June … Assuming that it gets picked up it would be for midseason next year,” NBCUniversal boss Jeff Bader shared this week, according to The Wrap.
