Exclusive: Max Irons, André De Shields (The Instigators, Ain’t Misbehavin‘) and Marc Menchaca are set for key recurring roles opposite Callum Turner and Briana Middleton in Neuromancer, Apple TV+‘s 10-episode drama series based on the award-winning novel of the same name by William Gibson.

Created for television by Graham Roland and Jd Dillard, Neuromancer follows a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case (Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly (Middleton), a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.

Irons will play Jean Tessier-Ashpool, De Shields will portray Julius Deane and Menchaca is The Dixie Flatline.

People has unveiled three images for MobLand, offering current (and potential) Paramount+ subscribers their first look at Hardy, Brosnan, and Mirren in the series. Hardy leads the crime drama as Harry Da Souza, a "fiercely loyal" fixer charged with protecting the Harrigan family. Brosnan is playing Conrad Harrigan, the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London, while Mirren stars as his wife, Maeve, the Harrigan family matriarch. The star-studded organized crime series from filmmaker Guy Ritchie has landed on a title, as well as a premiere date on Paramount+.

The drama is called MobLand, and it will debut March 30 on Paramount+ in the United States, Canada, U.K. and Australia, with other markets to follow later in the year. It’s a fairly quick turnaround for the show, which was announced (and in production) in late November.

MobLand centers on an Irish crime family based in London, with Brosnan playing the head of the family, Conrad Harrigan. Mirren — who also stars in Paramount+’s Yellowstone prequel 1923 — plays family matriarch Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife. Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, the Harrigans’ fixer.

Film and high-end television (Hetv) production spend in the UK hit £5.6bn in 2024, with film production reaching £2.1bn, an increase of 56% on 2023.

The £5.6bn figure doesn’t match the 2022 record of £6.3bn, but is a 31% increase on the Hollywood strike-addled 2023, according to statistics released by the British Film Institute (BFI) today (February 6).

High-end TV production accounted for the lion’s share of the overall spend, reaching almost £3.4bn, an increase of 20% on 2023 and the third highest annual spend since tax relief was introduced in 2013, and 62% of the total spend.

Film and TV production in the U.K., whose boom came to a grinding halt in 2023 amid the Hollywood writers and actors strikes, rebounded in 2024 and is officially ahead of pre-Covid levels for the first time since the pandemic.

According to the British Film Institute, the total spend on film and high-end TV production last year reached £5.6 billion ($6.9 billion), a 31% increase on 2023 when £4.23 billion ($5.37 billion) on 394 productions was spent, and £6.27 billion ($7.72 billion) in the year 2022.

U.K. production spend is counted in the statistics for the year in which principal photography started.

It's official: Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan have officially signed on to star in the Paramount+ series previously titled The Associate. The series will be loosely based on Showtimes hit crime drama series Ray Donovan, which ran on air for seven seasons from 2013 to 2019.

After entering into final negotiations back in October, Variety has reported that Hardy, Mirren, and Brosnan have officially joined the Paramount+ series from Guy Ritchie and Ronan Bennett. The casting update was paired with a bit of news that may disappoint Ray Donovan fans, as the series has been reworked into a standalone project with no connections to the Liev Schreiber-led franchise. The Associate has also been dropped as the series' title, with no new title announced at this time.

Guy Ritchie's next movie will no longer be hitting theaters in January 2025. Lionsgate has removed In the Grey, which reteams Ritchie with his The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare star Henry Cavill, from its 2025 release schedule.

According to Deadline, the reason Lionsgate has pulled In the Grey from its Jan. 17, 2025 release date is because the movie isn't finished. The action thriller wrapped filming in October 2024, meaning that Ritchie has spent more than a year completing post-production work and is still not finished. A new release date has not yet been announced by Lionsgate. It's a sad update for fans who were looking forward to seeing the filmmaker's third Cavill-led movie. The actor previously starred in 2015's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and 2024's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Prime Video’s ad-supported reach in the UK is 19 million viewers, Amazon has revealed for the first time.

It’s unclear who the Oscar-winning actor will play or what the movie is even about, though it has been described as an “event film,” and the fact that is has been slated to open in the summer of 2026 suggests it will be a return to the kind of blockbusters that made Spielberg a household name. Otherwise, mums the word on what on screen action awaits. Spielberg cooked up the story and David Koepp, who wrote “Jurassic Park” and the first “Mission: Impossible,” penned the script. Universal will release the film, which is produced by Spielberg’s company, Amblin.

Firth is set to appear in “Lockerbie,” a Peacock series about the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, as well as “Young Sherlock,” a Prime Video series about the famous detective’s early years from Guy Ritchie.

The Gentlemen is coming back for a second season. Netflix has renewed the live-action series based on the Guy Ritchie movie of the same name five months after it premiered on the streamer.

Per Netflix Tudum, Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, and Daniel Ings are set to return for The Gentlemen Season 2, reprising their roles from the first season as Eddie, Susie, and Eddie's brother Freddy, respectively. Additional casting news will be announced at a later date. Ritchie will also be back to direct the eight-episode second season, which is expected to commence filming in 2025. He will also co-write the Season 2 scripts with Matthew Read, who was a writer on Season 1.

Inspired by Andy Lane’s “Young Sherlock Holmes” novels, Finn has been cast in the role of James Moriarty, the notorious archnemesis of Sherlock Holmes. As previously announced, Holmes will be played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
