This wannabe Encantadia meets Amaya 2.0 was one of the most historically and mythologically inaccurate fantasy dramas ever created on Philippine Television History, and unintentionally hilarious. Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, with their slang accents and fair complexions, were terribly miscast in roles meant to embody Filipino heritage. They didn't look the part at all, and many cast members seemed to be chosen more for their looks than their ability to bring their characters to life. On top of that, the dialogues felt too modern to be believable in a supposed medieval setting unlike Amaya and Encantadia from rival network. That said, the production design was impressive.
The scene where Dimples Romana added comedic flair by dancing was undeniably funny, but it was also a blatant disrespect to Filipino history and mythology. This issue even sparked an argument between Suzette Doctolero and the then manager of Soberano, Ogie Diaz, and honestly, Suzette had a point. With LizQuen's massive fan base, the show had an opportunity to educate teenagers about our culture, yet it completely failed to do so. I think the show was created to be loved, but it seems like historical and cultural accuracy was never a priority. Granted that ABS-CBN is known for its hit dramas, but tackling Filipino history just isn't their forte!
