It's Alright

It will not be the best thing you have ever watched, but it's not that bad. Very silly, but it is enjoyable.

Not very "high" on my list

This show is okay. Had some wax, sat back and expected to love this show! I did learn some helpful tips for cooking and am going to try and infuse some vodka. Other than that, ordering my Cinnabon in the middle of watching was more exciting haha! Gave it 4 stars because I do think they had some great ideas and I'm excited about trying some. As far as fun cooking shows to watch while "partaking" Nailed It is WAY better. I laugh my a** off at that show!!

If you needed one argument against marijuana....

This is an aggressively low rent cooking contest, where two chefs bring their ingredients into a kitchen and then add the guest herb to the recipe.

If you're expecting cutting edge cuisine, insightful judging, or even cutting repartee, this is not the show for you. It looks like everyone had at least some of the product before even entering the kitchen, and so you get some of the most inflated scores for basic recipes you'll ever see with people that are way too mellow.

Overall, it's just what you would expect from people hitting one before entering a kitchen, and it's just not all that interesting....

My toilet is more entertaining

Cooking on High is a new Netflix show is about two chefs preparing the best dish with marijuana in it. Here are the reasons why this is the worst cooking show I have ever seen, based solely on the first episode:

Cringe. Cringe everywhere in this show.

The people judging the food have no cooking experience! One of them is a rapper that says that he cooks by making cereal and has never eaten fish before! Why do I care what these people think about food?

Remember the part where the contestants run into the pantry to grab food for their dishes? Nope, here they have all the pre-portioned ingredients already assembled in front of them. Boring.

The kitchen is hilariously small, and the judges just talk about what they're doing right in front of them. No private commentary.

15 minutes is really not a lot of time to get much cooking done. Also missing: the countdown clock and the sense of urgency.

Anyone who has ever cooked with weed knows that a key part is making the canna-butter or cannabis oil as potent as possible without burning out the THC. There are different techniques and recipes, and here they could have shown what the chefs like to do: cooking temp, time, type of weed, amount. Instead, both chefs are given the same type of weed and ostensibly the exact same canna-butter. Literally the main part of the show that sets it apart, and it is given little attention except for a lame bit about the specific strain of weed being used.

Both of the judges are clearly stoned before tasting the dishes. How are they supposed to tell how potent the food is? They do take a break at some point to let the weed digest, but since both chefs are using the same canna-butter, there is no way to tell them apart.

God, I hate everyone on this show besides the chefs, who seem nice enough.

Douchey

This show sucks. It's sad because a concept like this has a lot of potential. They could have taken cannibus cookery in a professional and serious manner. Instead you've got douchey bro hosts and some noname wannabe rapper as a judge. They don't show cannibus cooking techniques. Or anything interesting it's literally just college bros all stoned and not saying anything interesting at all. It's so dumb.

Netflix the Biters

Literally took the concepts of Bong Appétit and Chopped and decided to combine the two. No one asked for this and it in no way is original content. Thumbs down. Just go to VICELAND for quality cannabis content!

Not THAT bad

It's kind of cheesy, not detailed and no real celebrity judges. As long as you keep that in mind it's not too bad. I mostly watch to get ideas for meals. I love food!

below one star quality

In summary, this show is bad, bad, bad. If your on the line with this one just don't.

i actually cant believe how bad this show is. This is the first review that I have written on IMDB. I am writing because Netflix have disabled their rating/feedback feature now, and it needs to be heard that this show is an embarrassment to weed smokers, cooking show lovers and the producers of the show should be ashamed as well. I could barley make it 15 minutes in.

the contestants stories seem made up (i.e. " do you guys have any awesome weed stories?" - contestant replies "yeah one time went to the store high, and all the sudden racked up $400"). The whole thing seems really phony, every host is too earnest some how, every guest too enthusiastic.

It's typical of Netflix lately, producing products that are so over analyzed by market research and focus groups that every edge is smoothed out and rounded off. Even though they try to produce edgy material, it always just feels like over produced programming developed by buying a licence (or not in this case) and then creating exactly what people are supposed to like.

Entertaining, laid back, non-toxic cooking show.

Most cooking shows focus on the competitive side of things, with people cussing each other out while their mistakes are jumped on by snarky commentators in real time, dramatic music playing to make the final dash to prep their plates more exciting. This is not most cooking shows. The focus is more on the food (and the weed) than it is on the competition, which I think works really well. After all, do you ever see anybody picking fights while stoned? The judges are usually baked before they even meet the chefs, and with the pot-infused food in their bellies, they are pretty out there when the time comes to actually judge the food. They aren't professional food critics or anything, just goofy pot-heads eating food they probably would never normally eat, then saying nice things about it while struggling not to giggle. I like the 15 minute length, which seems to cut out all the drama and suspense that other shows try to hype up while at the same time not over staying it's welcome. It's a fun, low-rent, and laid-back exploration into the possibilities of cooking with weed which, unlike those other stress-inducing cooking shows, actually makes me hungry when I'm NOT high.

10/10 Stars. Does exactly what it sets out to do. No more, no less.

What to expect?

Don't expect anything more than people very stoned eating gourmet edibles. If you don't like the premise, I suggest not to watch it. Watch it medicated, and have some laughs.

Not bad but could be better

Not sure how they selected the judges, but a few of them were complete idiots. What experience did they have, besides just being stoners, to judge the food paired with the cannabis? Some of the judges made the show seem stupid and really annoying to watch.

Generally, I thought the cooks were great. They came from diverse culinary backgrounds but all had some level of experience in cooking with cannabis.

I liked the show because I'm personally interested in learning to cook with cannabis. I think it's a great chance to pique people's interests in cannabis, especially if they haven't tried it before. I also think it's a good chance to educate, even seasoned cannabis users, on the many different types of cannabis strains and what they can be used for.

Unwatchable

Im really shocked netflix ok'd this idiotic show. I managed to get through 1 1/4 episodes. To start the chefs they chose give a bad name to all cooking shows . Its a show where "chefs" cook dishes with weed as main ingredient. But the chefs come on with a dish prepared.its not like they have to show their skills and race around looking for ingredients to make up a dish on the spot. For example , a grilled cheese with weed.. wtf? And the judges they chose are the most unintelligent looking fools you will ever see. A mailman looking dude , a white rapper that looked like he had no idea what to do with his parents money but to become a "rapper". And the start of the 2nd episode the judges were 3 "superstar " rappers who look like they got left back in the 3rd grade 12 times.. and they all looked high as heck judging..remember anything tastes good while high..the show really questions your intelligence and worries me about the future of tv.

Can't even watch while high

I have never felt the need to review a show before now. The concept is there but it was done in the most terrible way possible. It is literally a show of a ton of high guys eat food a high chef makes them. At one point the presented some information about weed that was scientifically incorrect. Needs to be canceled before more people waste their time.

First time i ever felt the need to say how bad something is.

I usually hop on to imdb when a watch something i loved. This time it was the exact opposite. I love food and almost all food related shows.. This is the first show that was so bad it made me lose my appetite. Not just how amatuer it feels as a show..... but nothing was funny, nothing was interesting, and i don't think there's many people with an IQ low enough to enough something this bad.

I can't express my disappointment enough. In theory a show like this could be good i think, Just not this one.

This is so bad.

Concept is nice, but the production, the host and the guest are horrible. It's made like a reality show and can be resumed to "woah dude weed is awesome man". No effort is put in presenting the food or cooking techniques. It's all the worst things about weed culture and reality tv shows. I feel bad for the chefs on the show.

Love it

This is so good I just had to say something. The host is very good and the show is clean, informative and fun. You guys finally made cocking show fun to whatch. I love weed and love food and this is the perfect show. Pleas make more. Forget the haters, they can watch something else, and we who love it can stay, simple. I would love if the judges was someone I know, so it's almost 10/10. Hopefully you make more

Same thing every episode

Good concept just terrible execution, for many reasons they are always bringing in annoying irellivant guests who don't know or actually care about the process of cooking with cannabis. They are really cringe and act higher that's they actually are for reactions and they take no though into judging the meals

The cooking gets repetitive constiting of regular meals that just have weed butter/oils in it

The "weed facts guy" with dreadlocks tells the audience the same weed facts every episode...facts an average everyday stoner knows already.

Wanna be chopped....

I only give it 3 stars for the simple fact that they show many options for edibles as well as they talk about different strands and their effects and flavor profile. But if i were to rate the show on entertainment well then id have to give it 1 star and thats pushing it.

High Rating for a High Show

Ngaio steals the show and delivers an Emmy performance worth high praise each episode. The end result of the food always turns out great. Some of the judges are losers but other than that it's is a great show that I HIGHLY RECOMMENDES
