This spin-off of the Netflix's original series Club de Cuervos relates a 3 hours side story of how Hugo Sanchez get the Cuervos to play a tournament in Nicaragua.
It's not as good a Club de Cuervos, but you will laugh a few times. Definitely Hugo Sanchez needs Chava to be as good as he can.

Hugo does well as the lead and some new characters (along with a few old) step up and make this a solid show with some very funny moments.
Even though Hugo Sanchez is a funny character in Club de Cuervos, he isn't a good lead character in his own show. It's simple; the fact that you are a funny character doesn't make you strong enough to lead a Spin off.
Don't get me wrong, Hugo Sanchez isn't the unique problem in this spin off. The story doesn't support him either. The story is full of offensive jokes about Nicaragua, and they are almost 80% of the jokes and most of them aren't really funny but the most dreadful part is the fact that wasn't the focus of jokes of the original show. The jokes on Club de Cuervos are more about the characters and their situation. A couple of jokes are offensive but they work efficiently with the context.
In conclusion, this show isn't as good as the original. It merely works to calm the wait for the 4th season of it.

I think is the best way to keep the cuervos alive.
Is not Club de Cuervos, but gives some insight on every character on the series that does not have much screen time but are unique. Like the coach, the same Hugo Sánchez, his peculiarity and the insight on his family helps understand a lot why the character behaves how it does.
I recommend it, is just a few hours, i saw it all in a sunday night. Have some netflix and chill with it.

Really enjoyed this series! It allows you to take a break from all the drama seen in Club de Cuervos and enjoy the whimsical dynamic between the players, Fede, Carmelo and of course..Hugo Sanchez himself. The Ballad of Hugo Sanchez gives me hope that we'll see some interesting relationships form between the Cuervos and that season 4 (of Club de Cuervos) will bring us more insight into the players personal lives. Can't wait to see "La balada de Xibalba" (Oh Zombie)
