With Halloween now less than a week away, the new horror releases are showing no signs of slowing down. This week alone, 10 more new movies have arrived to haunt and entertain you.

In the wake of Mr. Crocket, Hulu’s “Huluween” lineup continues this week with the original horror-comedy Carved, which spewed pumpkin guts onto the platform beginning Monday.

“When a heartbroken teenage playwright, her younger brother, and a disparate group of survivors become trapped in a historical reenactment village on Halloween night, they must band together to survive a relentless assault by a sentient and vengeful pumpkin.”

Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Corey Fogelmanis, Wyatt Lindner, Carla Jimenez, Sasha Mason, Jonah Lees, DJ Qualls, Marc-Sully Saint-Fleur, Elvis Nolasco, Matty Cardarople, Jackson Kelly, and Chris Elliott star in the Halloween horror movie Carved.

The viral success of the Sharknado franchise has recently spawned knockoff movies including Clownado and Monsternado, and up next Wild Eye Releasing is preparing for a Catnado.

Catnado will be unleashed on VOD and DVD on October 22, 2024.

March is coming to an end and while Screambox‘s April line-up is absolutely jam-packed – stay tuned! – we’re first ending this month with a bang.

Now streaming on Screambox are several Dark Star Pictures classics, including the completely gonzo Bloody Disgusting collaboration Dementia: Part II, which delivers absurd gross-out humor and nonstop mayhem.

Coming off of the terrorific Clownado, which was released in late September 2019 with producer Mem Ferda, Sheet's latest feature is the third film in the Hi-8 series. To release in 2021, Hi-Fear is a horror anthology, which involves three tales: "When Shadows Come Alive," "Losing It At the Devil's Whorehouse," and "Out of Days." As well, other filmmakers working on this latest feature include: Tim Ritter (Truth or Dare), Brad Sykes (Camp Blood) and Tony Goggles (Hi-Death). A few early details are available for this anthology, here! Already in production, Hi-Fear will force the directors and writers to face "their deepest fears (Nightfall Pictures)." And, each short film will focus on a new anxiety. Principal photography has already started on this title, with production expected to complete later this year. This week’s horror and sci-fi Blu-ray and DVD titles are an eclectic bunch, led by a pair of cult classics—Fright and Straight on Till Morning—which were both directed by Peter Collinson. Arrow Video put together a special edition release for Who Saw Her Die?, which this writer is really looking forward to checking out in the coming weeks, and Unearthed Classics is resurrecting Nightwish on both formats as well.

In terms of new films, The Velocipastor arrives on Tuesday on both Blu and DVD, and for those of you who missed it in theaters, Dark Phoenix rises again on multiple formats, and Clownado touches down this week on DVD as well.

Other notable releases for September 17th include The Night Sitter, D-Railed, The Bloody Ape, Return of the Scarecrow, and The Films of Sarah Jacobson: Mary Jane’s Not a Virgin Anymore & I Was a Teenage Serial Killer from Agfa.

Veteran low-budget show-on-video horror legend Todd Sheets sits back in his directors chair for Clownado, his new horror flick that he also wrote. Now, I’ve seen a bunch of Sheets films in the past, so I was excited to check this one out, his gory story of demonic clowns who embark upon a massacre with the use of… well, tornadoes of course. I mean, the sound of that alone was enough for me to double-shot my coffee cup, grab some snacks and sit in the dark with a big dumb grin on my face, ready to see Sheets in action again.

With the month of September nearly upon us, that means two things: one, we have a new batch of titles headed to VOD and Digital platforms, and two, our beloved Halloween season is finally almost here. As the name implies, this is more or less a mashup of the Sharknado franchise, mixed with creepy clowns, in order to cash in on the popularity if It, no doubt. This comes from Wild Eye Releasing, a company known for churning out such B-movies that are destined for Redbox. Sharknado ain't got nothing on the storm that is about to be unleashed by Extreme Entertainment. Today, they have dropped the first gore-filled trailer for Clownado, a torrential downpour of gruesome sights that will have you scared of killer clowns all over again.

Clownado arrives from writer and director Todd Sheets, who is no stranger to the horror genre. His goal with Clownado is to deliver a good, scary, splatter-infused roller coaster ride that is filled with loop-de-loops all the way to the end. It promises something new, fresh, original and unique. Yet, there is a very familiar sense of dread lingering around it's upper ribcage.

In turning Clownado into a true cult contender, Sheets has used only practical special make-up effects, and he is utilizing an old school VFX ethos that will have you fondly remembering such classics as Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Bad Taste and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
