ThunderCats finally has the chance to recover from its devastating 2020 failure with the live-action movie currently in pre-production. The beloved ThunderCats franchise began as a 1985 animated television show, and stole the hearts of families across the nation, eventually releasing comics, action figures, and various reboots. The science fantasy, set on Third Earth, followed catlike humanoid aliens in their fight against evil. While many of the ThunderCats franchise pursuits went well, a particular 2020 reboot was released to overwhelmingly negative reviews.
ThunderCats Roar failed to live up to fan expectations, and although reboots rarely live up to the original, ThunderCats Roar did so badly that it threatened the integrity of the franchise as a whole. Now, with Adam Wingard, director of Godzilla vs. Kong and longtime fan of ThunderCats, spearheading pre-production of the live-action movie, it seems theres still hope for the ThunderCats franchise.

The live-action ThunderCats needs to learn from the 2011 version and avoid over-committing to grand storylines. The live-action film should replicate the drama & action of 2011 series, but focus on telling a complete story. The new ThunderCats movie will likely inspired by the 1985 original show instead.
The upcoming ThunderCats movie could give the franchise the perfect chance to make up for the biggest mistake it made with its most critically acclaimed entry. Debuting in 1985, ThunderCats fit in perfectly alongside other shows of the era like He-Man. Focusing on Lion-o and his fellow ThunderCats, the show centered around their adventures on Third Earth and their battles with the evil sorcerer, Mumm-Ra. The show quickly became a favorite for kids of the era, and has inspired two very different ThunderCats reboots in the 21st century 2011's dramatic ThunderCats, and the more cartoonish 2020 series ThunderCats Roar.

ThunderCats is finally getting a live-action movie, and this is exactly what the 1980s franchise needs after two failed reboots. The ThunderCats franchise has attempted to make a comeback several times since the ending of its orignial 1980s series, but these reboots just haven't worked out, with many wondering if ThunderCats will ever return to its former glory. With the announcement of a ThunderCats movie, however, it is possibly that things could finally work out, redeeming the original animated series after its recent failed reboots.

Despite the transition from classic animation to live-action, Adam Wingard's ThunderCats reboot will be staying as faithful as possible to the classic cartoon show from the 1980s.
It was previously reported that Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard would be helming a live-action adaptation of ThunderCats. In a new interview with Screen Rant, the filmmaker commented on the vision he has planned for the movie. He confirmed that his goal is to make the film look like the 80s cartoon brought to life, which means using the exact same costumes without any concern about what's more "realistic" in a live-action world.

Thundercats is a property that might seem obscure to a lot of people today, given that it only had a short-lived revival in 2011 before the show was turned into something like Teen Titans Go in the form of Thundercats Roar. However, for those who remember the original 80’s animated series, or even its 2011 revival, Thundercats holds a special place in their heart. And now, it seems a Thundercats live-action film might finally see the light of day.

ThunderCats Roar, the 2020 adaptation of the franchise, received overwhelmingly negative reactions from fans, and its cancellation after less than a year confirms its failure to capture the essence of the original series. The 2011-2012 reboot of ThunderCats garnered praise for its darker and edgier tone, sleek animation, and captivating storylines that appealed to both new fans and loyal followers of the franchise. The original ThunderCats series, which aired from 1985 to 1989, remains the best and most iconic installment in the franchise, with memorable characters, fantastic storytelling, and a catchy theme song that continues to captivate audiences today.

Once relegated to the status of 1980s nostalgia, the Masters of the Universe brand is currently experiencing a bit of a revival. There's the Netflix series Masters of the Universe: Revelation and its upcoming sequel Masters of the Universe: Revolution, plus a CGI animated series for a new generation. It goes to show how easy it is to bring back a franchise that had been dead, and the same needs to be applied to another classic series.
ThunderCats was one of the last major 1980s cartoon franchises to hit it big, and it's mostly remained defined by that series. Since then, there have been only two attempts to revive it, one of which was particularly controversial. In order to give the Cats their due, care must be taken to respect the source material, all while potentially returning to a short-lived classic from over a decade ago.

Masters of The Universe: Revelation has arrived on Netflix and the Rotten Tomatoes verdict is such a polar opposite affair that it is almost like He-Man and Skeletor themselves. In an unheard of occurrence, it is the critics that have been leaving a glowing series of reviews to the tune of a 97% approval rating, while an absolute onslaught of bad audience reviews has left the show with an almost knock-out blow of 42%, seemingly coming mostly from fans of the original '80s cartoon. What could possibly have caused such a backlash on what appeared to be the great continuation of the He-Man story from a man who seemed to be well on board with what fans expected? In a word: Teela.

We recently learned that a Thundercats movie is a go at Warner Bros., with Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard set to bring the beloved animated series to life on the big screen. While it is unclear just how far away we are from cameras rolling, buzz has already begun when it comes to who may star in the long-awaited adaptation. Now, we have at least one big name being thrown about in the form of Ryan Reynolds.
Before diving in, we must caution that this is just a rumor for the time being. Nothing more. It should not be taken as gospel and is merely something worth discussing. That being said, industry insider Daniel Richtman, who has proved to have an incredibly reliable track record, took to Patreon to state that the Deadpool and Detective Pikachu star is being eyed for a possible role. That being said, industry insider Daniel Richtman, who has proved to have an incredibly reliable track record, took to Patreon to state that the Deadpool and Detective Pikachu star is being eyed for a possible role. It is not clear which character Reynolds would potentially play,...

ThunderCats are on the mov(i)e! After years of false starts and announcements that didn’t go anywhere, it seems that the beloved ‘80s cartoon has a giant sized champion behind it. Adam Wingard, director of Godzilla vs. Kong, is working on a ThunderCats film that will be a hybrid live action/CGI movie. Wingard will direct the ThunderCats movie and co-write the script with Simon Barrett.
This raises a lot of questions about the film, especially considering the recent flux in ThunderCats media. The original ThunderCats was about as perfect an example of ‘80s action adventure cartoon series can be and the early 2010s reboot series took a mostly serious approach to the franchise with a more deeply layered story. Then in 2020 ThunderCats Roar was a huge departure, featuring a much more comedic tone and style than the previous series.

Thundercats are on the move, again.
“Godzilla vs. Kong” director Adam Wingard is attached to helm a computer-animated adaptation of the beloved 1980s Rankin Bass animated series “Thundercats” for Warner Bros., from a script Wingard will write with frequent collaborator Simon Barrett. Dan Lin of Rideback and Roy Lee of Vertigo, who produced Wingard’s film “Death Note,” were already attached to produce the film with a script by David Coggeshall when Wingard signed on, but Wingard and Barrett are starting fresh.
The original series, which aired from 1985 to 1989, was revived for a single season Cartoon Network in 2011, and then again in 2020 under the title “Thundercats Roar.” But as a feature film, “Thundercats” has been a tricky project to crack for the studio, which has hired a small parade of screenwriters and producers since at least 2007 to bring a movie to life. The underlying story is at once relatively simple...

It Is What It Is is Stephen Lee Bruner's fourth album as Thundercat and features the singles 'Black Qualls', 'Dragonball Durag', 'Fair Chance' and viral hit 'Funny Thing'. Joined by a stellar cast of musical friends – Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, Badbadnotgood, Louis Cole, Pedro Martins and Zack Fox – the record was produced by Thundercat and his longtime partner Flying Lotus who was Grammy-nominated in 'Producer of the Year, Non-Classical' for his work on the album.
Silly, sentimental and serious – often all at the same time – "This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that," Bruner says. "It's a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life you come across places that you don't necessarily understand… some things just aren't meant to be understood." The record is dedicated to his close friend Mac Miller who...

The 1980's action-fantasy series, Thundercats, remains a firm nostalgic favorite for many, particularly thanks to the explosive theme tune. While the series has never been adapted for the big screen, there was once talk of a CGI movie being in the works. Though that sadly never came to fruition, one diehard fan of the show has put their skills to good use and transformed the iconic Thundercats opening credits into glorious 3D animation.
Set to the theme song of the show, the video captures every action-packed moment of the show's original opening credits sequence, including each character introduction, as well as the closing battle between the Thundercats' heroic leader Lion-o and the villainous Mumm-Ra. "Earlier this year, I thought I'd have a go at learning how to use 3D animation software, really just so I could do some simple effects in my films," Booth stated in the description of the video.

A new trailer for Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons has arrived online. This latest DC animated feature is interesting as it started life as a short-form series on CW Seed. But more than 50 minutes of footage has been added, given fans an entire movie to enjoy. The trailer showcases the R-rated adventure to come, with Slade Wilson getting his hands very dirty on a quest to save his family.
The trailer opens up with Slade Wilson's transformation into the assassin known as Deathstroke. Things get action-heavy in a hurry before we find the mercenary put in a tough spot. A large body count is racked up, plenty of bullets fly and there is quite a bit of emotion layered in to break up the violence. Even though this came to life in a non-traditional way, converting a series into a full-length movie, it looks to be in line with what we...

James Wan will produce an Aquaman: King of Atlantis animated series for HBO Max.
James Wan will return to the DC Universe a little sooner than expected. Wan will executive produce Aquaman: King of Atlantis, a three episode animated series for HBO Max with Warner Bros. Animation. Very few details are available at the moment but HBO says that "each of the standalone episodes will have a unique storyline following the adventures of Aquaman as protector of the deep." It sounds like this is an all-ages affair, and that's perfectly in keeping with the nutso underwater fairytale tone of Wan's billion dollar grossing 2018 Aquaman movie.
The series appears to pick up right after the end of that movie left off, although it's probably not strictly in continuity with it. Here's the official synopsis:

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Rhett Reese and Michael Bay project Six Underground was actually a cover for a live-action Thundercats movie. When asked about the rumors, Rhett Reese simply said, "No," which settled the argument. However, Ryan Reynolds has addressed the rumors as well, calling them "ridiculous." It looks like fans of Snarf will have to go back to waiting for that ThunderCats movie, which might actually end up getting made now that there is so much hype surrounding the fake project.
Ryan Reynolds responded to the ThunderCats rumors on social media in a very typical manner. The story started when a "reliable source" gave out the top secret intel, which then spread like wildfire. A ThunderCats live-action film could be in the making, but it's definitely not going to be in place of Six Underground. Reynolds had this to say.

It looks like rumors of Netflix making a secret live-action Thundercats movie were greatly exaggerated. Recently, rumors cropped up online that the upcoming Michael Bay-directed Six Underground, which stars Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, was actually a live-action take on the beloved 80s animated series. Understandably, there was a lot of excitement when this started to circulate. However, one of Reynolds' closest collaborators has stepped in to pour some cold water on the situation.
