“Pink Floyd at Pompeii — McMlxxii,” the rock band’s 1972 concert film/documentary, will revisit theaters with a restored version that is coming to Imax and other cinema screens starting April 24, followed shortly by a first-time stand-alone release of the soundtrack as an official live album on May 2.
Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision are bringing the film back into theaters, to be seen in a 4K digital remaster created from the original 35mm footage. Steven Wilson, whose remixes are well known to fans of classic rock, was behind the board for a new Dolby mix of the movie’s audio.
The live album will come out just a week after the film’s reappearance in cinemas, with Legacy, Sony’s catalog division, issuing it on CD, vinyl, digital audio and Dolby Atmos formats. It’s the first time the music from the film has been commercially released as a stand-alone item.

‘Pink Floyd At Pompeii’ pre-dates the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon. The film documents what Pink Floyd did before they became giants of the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic – where their music remains celebrated to this day.
Set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, this unique and immersive film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert without an audience. Pink Floyd fans will soon get to relive an iconic moment from the band’s illustrious career. Back in 1971, before the release of their breakthrough eighth studio album Dark Side of the Moon, the band performed in the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy. This legendary performance was the first live concert to ever take place at Pompeii. Though there was no audience at the time, Pink Floyd performed songs like “Echoes,” “A Saucerful of Secrets,” and “One of These Days,” all of which are now considered fan favorites. This performance was the subject of the 1972 documentary film Pink Floyd at Pompeii - McMlxxii. In April, the film will be re-released in theaters, digitally remastered in 4K.

From April 4 to May 23, 2001, Comedy Central ran eight episodes of a 30-minute sitcom called "That's My Bush!," a sendup of the then-active George W. Bush administration. The premise of the show was as broad as possible. George W. Bush (Timothy Bottoms) was in the White House, but his life was more akin to that of an old-fashioned, 1980s-era workplace sitcom than that of a sitting president. There was a noisy, obnoxious laugh track paired with bright, even TV lighting, making the show look deliberately old-fashioned and artificial. Kurt Fuller played the buttoned-down killjoy Karl Rove, while Carrie Quinn Dolin played Laura Bush.
More than being a spoof of the Bush administration, however (and there was plenty to spoof), "That's My Bush!" was a satire of all-American sitcoms. Show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker (of "South Park" fame) merely used the White House as a backdrop to mock dated sitcom...

In “One of Them Days,” the start of the month creates a sense of stress for two best friends living in South Los Angeles. Dreux and Alyssa set out on a frantic, day-long mission to raise $1,500 after being stuck between past-due rent and a landlord’s unyielding demands. This idea reflects contemporary struggles, where survival becomes a spectacle and is full of chaotic humor and unpredictable twists. A reminder of the fortitude needed to persevere, the film’s humor provides a rare glimpse of joy amid the weight of economic hardship.
With the energy of standards like Friday, this film harkens back to the 1990s urban comedies. The story takes place in Baldwin Village, where the lively community and interesting characters bring it to life. Keke Palmer plays Dreux well, while Sza’s Alyssa is a free-spirited and spontaneous artist. Together, their chemistry captures the delicate balance of friendship and survival,...

Two days after making their debut at Farm Aid, Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts played their first headlining show Monday night at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. The 14-song set mixed gentle acoustic songs (“Come a Time,” “Journey Through the Past”) with wild, Crazy Horse-style electric numbers (“Big Time,” “Powderfinger,” “I’m the Ocean”) heavy on jams.
The highlight was an epic “Down by the River” that spanned 13 minutes, featuring extended guitar interplay between Young and Micah Nelson. The band also featured organist Spooner Oldham, drummer Anthony LoGerfo,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched season four of “The Crown.”
The latest season of hit Netflix series “The Crown” is ruffling all sorts of feathers in the U.K. as the families of those depicted in the drama have begun speaking out about their portrayals.
After three seasons, the Peter Morgan-created show finally marks the arrival of Princess Diana as well as her troubled marriage to Prince Charles in season 4 — a chapter of the award-winning drama that Morgan deems “the first of the modern series.” As it inches closer to the current day, however, the show is also facing more intense scrutiny.
Lady Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer (also known as Earl Spencer), who has always been a fierce guardian of his sister’s legacy, is concerned that the general public will treat the series as fact and not a fictitious version of real-life events.

“It’s so cringey,” said Emma Corrin, who stars as Princess Diana in Season 4 of Netflix’s “The Crown.” “It’s the worst.”
“It’s so uncomfortable,” agreed Josh O’Connor, who, as Prince Charles, is Corrin’s frequent scene partner. “It’s so horrible. I’m so sorry.”
Here’s the thing about playing the British royal family’s two very famous star-crossed lovers — there are any number of based-on-real-life scenes with Corrin and O’Connor in “The Crown” that they could be talking about. Is it the duo’s terrible engagement interview, where it becomes very apparent that Charles has little interest in his future bride? Is it the press conference in Australia where Diana fumbles incredibly basic questions about their trip Down Under? Is it when Charles watches aghast as attention-starved Diana does a surprise dance to Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” in front of a packed audience at the Royal Opera House?...

The buzziest storyline for season four of The Crown is best described during the penultimate episode, "Avalanche," when Princess Anne (Erin Doherty) sits Queen Elizabeth II (Olivia Colman) down for a foreboding conversation. "Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young girl who fell madly in love with a handsome prince," Anne says. "Unfortunately, the prince was already in love with someone else, who was herself in love with someone else—and they all lived unhappily ever after. That's it, in a nutshell. Do you need more?" Anne, of course, is referring to the marriage of Prince Charles (Josh O'Connor) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin), a tempestuous romance...

One of the lesser-known royal-adjacent tragedies is depicted in season four of The Crown: Prince Charles's 1988 skiing accident. The episode, appropriately named "Avalanche," reveals how Charles nearly died - and one of his friends actually did - in a sudden avalanche on a steep Swiss mountain.
According to The Guardian, the avalanche occurred on Gotschnagrat Mountain at the Klosters ski resort, one of the steepest slopes in Switzerland, when an unexpected avalanche came down on the royal party. Other royals on the trip, including Princess Diana and Sarah, Duchess of York, had stayed behind while Charles led a group for an off-road run. His friend, Major Hugh Lindsay, was a 34-year-old army officer and former equerry to the Queen, with a pregnant wife at home. The avalanche began without warning and quickly approached Charles and his party, who were standing still in between ski runs. Prince Charles was able...

Berlin-based Flare Film is continuing its focus on international productions with German filmmaker Bastian Günther’s “Avalanche,” which just wrapped principal photography in Louisiana.
The timely social drama, which stars Carrie Preston (“Claws”) and British thesp Joe Cole (“A Prayer Before Dawn”), is set in America’s troubled social and cultural environment and explores the caustic repercussions of extreme capitalism that exploits underprivileged people for profit and entertainment.
The story follows the marketing manager of a small-town car dealership, played by Preston, who organizes an endurance contest in which 20 down-on-their-luck contenders compete to win a new pickup truck, and a young contestant (Cole) hoping for a better life.
The drama marks producer and Flare Film managing director Martin Heisler’s third collaboration with Günther after his debut feature, “Autopilots,” and his 2013 Sundance screener “Houston,” which was likewise set in the U.S.
