Shesham Mickeil Fathima, the upcoming Malayalam film starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role, has been acquired by Gokulam Movies for worldwide theatrical distribution. Actress Ankita Lokhande has responded to remarks by actress Shibani Dandekar, where the latter claimed that Ankita is targeting actress Rhea Chakraborty for two seconds of fame.

In her response, Ankita questioned if she was being criticized because she has extensive work experience in the television world, instead of Bollywood. She asked Shibani to "stop looking down on television actors".

Last weekend was the worst of the year for Australian cinemas as Universal’s The Invisible Man and Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog were the only titles to crack $1 million.

Still, who can blame people for shunning cinemas given virtually all the new releases had either flopped in the Us or were niche titles that earned modest sums?

Among the misfires were Warner Bros’ The Way Back, Disney/Searchlight Films’ Downhill, Mind Blowing Films’ Bollywood action thriller Baaghi 3 and Roadshow’s The Big Trip.

Universal’s Dark Waters and Umbrella Entertainment’s feature doc Honeyland had mediocre debuts.

The top 20 titles generated $8.8 million, down 13 per cent on the previous frame which had ranked as the lowest of the year, according to Numero.

The premier new release of the week, Fox Star Studios? and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment?s Baaghi 3, has embarked on a good (single screens) to decent (multiplexes) start of around 35 percent on an average. And given the decent to mixed reviews, ?the film saw some pick up during the latter shows.?

With the ensuing holidays, extending into mid-week, Tiger Shroff?s Baaghi 3 is expected to end up with a good weekend (as well as) opening week haul. The first day appears to be around 17.50 crore. Having said that, the previous edition of the film had seen a superb 55 percent opening, but that maybe due to the Rambo feel of Baaghi 2.

Meanwhile, Anubhav Sinha directed Taapsee Pannu starrer, Thappad, held on quite well netting 22 crore(to be validated), which is much better than Saand Ki Aankh and Panga and second only to Chhapaak, if we talk about similar genre female protagonist films.
