Brat TV Acquires Crypt TV To Expand Digital Footprint
Image
Exclusive: Brat TV, the Gen Z studio behind digital series like Chicken Girls, has acquired Crypt TV, a similar company in the horror space.

The acquisition marks another expansion for Brat TV, which launched its flagship channel in 2016, and now includes Past Your Bedtime, a video podcast network, and an influencer marketing division called Beeline Talent. Counting more than five million subscribers on YouTube, Brat TV also operates channels on streaming services like Samsung, Tubi and Roku, and partners with advertisers like Lego, Mars-Wrigley and Disney. Last year, the company’s video podcast with Drew Afualo, The Comment Section, was licensed exclusively by Spotify. Snapchat, meanwhile, chose Beeline Talent as one of its launch partners for its Collab Studio. With the acquisition of Crypt TV, the company will broaden its digital footprint to new audiences in different genres.

Founded in 2015, Crypt TV amassed over 10 million fans across YouTube and Facebook...

Crypt TV Cco Kate Krantz On The Evolving Horror-Driven Platform And The Need To Spotlight Women In The Genre Space
Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, and Eli Roth in La Prophétie de l'horloge (2018)
Since its inception in 2015, Crypt TV has been producing original horror-themed content and looking to build a universe of monsters that are all interconnected — a Marvel universe of monsters, if you will. The streaming service was founded by Jack Davis and Eli Roth and backed by Blumhouse Productions as well as Lerer Hippeau, NBC Universal & Advancit Capital — and leading the charge in all of its content is Cco Kate Krantz.

Krantz finds herself in am exec position in a space that is primarily male — something that isn’t uncommon in the industry, but in horror it seems to be very noticeable. Prior to Crypt TV, Krantz cut her teeth at Wme and Disney, which she says cultivated her own aesthetic as a curator.

“I’ve been lucky that the women I happened to work for at each institution seeded the value-set I carry in my approach toward brand and content vision,...

Facebook Signs Deal With Crypt TV for Slate of Five Horror Series
Crypt TV, the digital studio founded by Eli Roth and Jack Davis and backed by Jason Blum, expanded its deal with Facebook, inking a content partnership to create a slate of five horror and monster-themed series exclusively for Facebook Watch.

For Facebook Watch, it’s one of the first deals for a full slate of content from a partner — as opposed to deals for one-off shows, as it has been doing to date. The goal: to build a personalized, social-video experience for Facebook Watch from digital partners like Crypt TV that have a strong brand and loyal following on Facebook.

Crypt TV, founded in 2015, has 3 million followers on Facebook and initially launched with Facebook as its primary exclusive platform in the first two years of the company.

Facebook has agreed to fund five new series, each approximately 10 episodes, under the pact. Facebook Watch and Crypt TV are currently in active development on other shows.
