Netflix is dropping 55 movies and series this week
Image
Oof. Beginnings of months are difficult in terms of how many titles on any streaming service we are forced to say goodbye to. Each month, Netflix brings in many new items, meaning some older ones have to leave. Some months are worse than others.

May isn't worse than other months unless you are a fan of a couple of franchises. If you love Spider-Man, we have bad news for you. If you are addicted to watching Thomas & Friends, we have more bad news.

Perhaps the worst part is that a lot of comedies are saying goodbye. Wedding Crashers, the Fockers films, and a couple of the Friday flicks are going away. So are some Oscar-worthy films, such as Schindler's List and Whiplash.

A large number of titles are leaving Netflix this week (April 26 through May 2)

The weird 1978 version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is also leaving.

Ad Vitam Cast & Character Guide
Image
Netflix's latest movie, Ad Vitam, includes a small ensemble of talented French actors. Directed by Rodolphe Lauga, the Netflix international movie is currently the number one non-English film on the streaming platform. Ad Vitam follows Franck, a former member of the elite French tactical police, the Gign, as he is forced to delve into his past after his pregnant wife is kidnapped. While Ad Vitam uses a similar plotline that several films in the genre employ, it sets itself apart with its action and incredible performances from its cast.

Since most of the actors in Ad Vitam are French, they might not be familiar to an American audience, but they've featured in several French movies and TV Shows. The Netflix action movie is engaging from start to finish, with an intense storyline that makes audiences root for the primary protagonist. Although there's a lot to like about Ad Vitam,...

‘Ad Vitam’ Movie Cast And Characters Guide
Image
The central struggle of Netflix’s French action thriller, Ad Vitam, hinges upon the age-old question of whether the concept of nationalism equates loyalty to the state or to the ones who control the power dynamics of the state. While the execution of the theme left much to be desired due to a lackluster script, the performance by the ensemble cast was strong enough to keep the audience entertained.

Franck Lazarev Played By Guillaume Canet

French actor, director, and screenwriter Guillaume Canet has been active in the movie industry for over the last three decades and has starred in acclaimed movies like the crime noir Next Time, I’ll Aim for the Heart, the adventure drama titled The Beach, and the thrilling Tell No One, which was also directed by him.

In Ad Vitam, Guillaume Canet plays the lead role of former Gign Captain Franck Lazarev, whose quest to serve...

The 5 Most Insufferable ‘SNL’ Catchphrases
Image
For 50 years, Saturday Night Live has been a catchphrase factory, churning out funny turns of phrase that get repeated ad nauseam in middle-school cafeterias and corporate team-building retreats. That’s the problem with catchphrases — one that makes you laugh when you first hear it might make you throttle someone when it’s repeated for the 10,000th time.

Here are the five overused SNL catchphrases that have caused the most forehead veins to throb…

1 More Cowbell!

“More cowbell” has made lives miserable from everyone to fans at sports arenas to Christopher Walken to the members of Blue Öyster Cult. Will Ferrell told Jimmy Fallon he went to see Walken years later in a play. “And he’s like, ‘You know, you’ve ruined my life. People during the curtain call bring cowbells and ring them.’”

As for Blue Öyster Cult, the oft-repeated sketch forced the band to change up their live shows.

Disney+ New Releases: March 2022
Image
It’s been a grueling three months since Marvel fans had a hit of the MCU in the form of Spider-Man: No Way Home and even longer since the last Marvel Disney+ series (Hawkeye). Thankfully that unbearable drought will be coming to an end with Disney+’s list of new releases for March 2022.

This month is highlighted by the arrival of Moon Knight on March 30. Oscar Isaac stars as the latest Marvel hero, a man with a fracturing personality and awesome power imbued by the Egyptian god Khonshu. Tonally, this seems like a really divergent take from the studio and the trailers promise some compelling mystery and bone-shattering punches if nothing else.

The Resort Review
Image
It’s a wonder that “holiday horror” isn’t a recognised subgenre given there are so many films about vacationing families, friends or couples coming up against a plethora of maniacal/supernatural rivals, as in the recent likes of You Should Have Left, The Rental, Koko-di Koko-da, Death of Me and Get In.

This latest, The Resort, centres on Lex (Bianca Haase), a writer and determined “final girl” type visiting a supposedly haunted resort on Hawaiian island Kilahuna, and with a group of friends in tow to celebrate her birthday. Lex wants to visit the island to conduct research for a writing project, but the group soon find themselves stalked and at the mercy of a skulk of malevolent spectres.

Supporting characters/genre stereotypes arise in the guise of Lex’s friends meat-head/jock douche with a heart of gold, Chris (Brock O’Hurn), the sarcastic, booze abusing Sam (Michael Vlamis...
