If there'd be more romance and less cooking it would be perfect

The idea behind this anime seems fresh and unique. I really liked it. The only thng bothering me is that from time to time, it feels almost like a cooking show and there isn't enough romance. *sigh* Other than that, the storyline is compelling and interesting and I can definitelly recommend it.

Ahhhhh this show

Kakuriyo Bed and Breakfast for spirits. This show needs more romance becuase I looked online cause I was really in love with a show called meji tokyo renka and I wanted things more like it I just wasn't impressed to be completely honest I mean for real though aoi was a bit annoying it was all about her I know it was her show but can like the side characters get some spotlight 💔😔. I just hope that if there is a next seaon just a bit more romance cause the romance was there but that little bit is not what i came for I was honestly disappointed but I just need more.

Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-

This anime series in centred on Aoi Tsubaki, a college student who can see Ayakashi, supernatural beings. One day one lures her into the Hidden Realm. Here she learns that he is Odanna, an ogre who knew Aoi's grandfather. He was well known in the Hidden Realm; he also ran up debts and as part of his payment Odanna expects Aoi to marry him! She isn't so keen so negotiates with him so that instead of marrying him she will work at Tenjin'ya, an inn he owns. She soon impresses other Ayakashi with her cooking; this isn't an entirely good thing as it leads her into some dangerous situations.

This twenty six part series was a real delight. The story is told at a gentle pace which enables us to get to know the characters. There are plenty of mildly perilous situations but one never really fears for Aoi. She is a likeable protagonist and the characters who surround her are interesting. It probably helps if one has some understanding in Japanese folklore even if, like me, it is what one has learnt from other anime. It shouldn't be too much of an impediment if you don't though. The character designs and backgrounds are impressive and the animation is of a high standard. Overall I'd definitely recommend this to fans of anime that combine Japanese folklore with humour, drama and a touch of romance.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

Good enough to kill time

Pros: I enjoyed the romantic moments and watching the character's relationships grow. The music is decent, and there is thought behind the plot.

Cons: All of the characters have very little depth. I was often left confused about the motivation behind the antagonists' actions, and even more about Aoi's. Even though the situations she's in are unfair and she's often mistreated, she just takes it with a smile and seems totally fine. Also, there were way too many recap scenes and way too much talking about food, which made me skip through a lot. And don't make the mistake of watching the dub like I did.

This anime would've been better if they prioritized character growth and depth instead of food, but it still is decent.

So engrossed with this anime!

Can't wait for the next episode. Odanna is the most handsome ogre I've ever seen. The story is just wonderful and it keeps getting better. I love cooking ... the way to an ogre's heart is through his stomach :)

It's so nice! Was hooked from the first 10 minutes.

I just love this show. It's so easy to watch, even the dramatic parts are still pretty chill. I love the romance between the Ogor God and Aoi, it's a delightful banter. Was hooked from the first 10 minutes

Delightful

A most enjoyable anime with a varied cast of characters mostly drawn from Japanese folk tales. A young woman is taken to the realm of "Ayakashi" or "Yokai" magical creatures like ogres, tengu, kappas and many more. While undergoing various trials and travails, her skill at cooking helps her gain friends and supporters. The animation is lovely, the plotting is well done.

All they do is cook and eat 🤷‍♀️

After several attempts to engage with this show, I eventually decided to use it as a sleep aid after about six tries. The primary focus appears to be on the annoying protagonist who merely cooks and eats. All the side characters cook and eat. All the villains cook and eat. And just when you anticipate something thrilling, it's more cooking and eating. Interested in romantic scenes!? Better luck next time because there is just more cooking and eating. Oh, and they occasionally fight about where to cook and eat. 🤣 Honestly, it's the most overrated anime series I've ever seen. IMO Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast is one of the lowest ratings among anime. I'm baffled as to how it got a second season, let alone another one on the way. After 6 tries as someone who has watched 150 anime series and movies, I would say it is hard to watch and find something else.
