Gbemisola Ikumelo, Abbi Jacobson, D'Arcy Carden, and Chanté Adams in Une équipe hors du commun (2022)

Trivia

Une équipe hors du commun

Edit
After the show cancellation was announced in August 2023 by Amazon citing production delays caused by the ongoing WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes, show creator Abbi Jacobson said, "To blame this cancellation on the strike is bulls*t and cowardly."
Maybelle Blair, who was the inspiration for the story, came out as a lesbian at age 95. She came out publicly for the first time during the Tribeca Festival premiere of the Amazon Studios of this series (about June 2022).
This is the second attempt to adapt the 1992 movie A League of their Own into a TV series. The first try was a CBS sitcom featuring Megan Cavanagh (Marla Hooch) and Tracy Reiner (Betty "Spaghetti" Horn), reprising the roles they played in the movie. Several of the behind-the-scenes personnel were the same (the movie's screenwriters, Babaloo Mandel and Lowell Ganz, were producers, and the movie's director, Penny Marshall, was one of the directors) but all the other roles were recast (Sam McMurray played the Tom Hanks role--though Hanks did direct an episode); Carey Lowell and Christine Elise took the Geena Davis and Lori Petty roles, respectively).
Amazons announced in August 2023 that the series has been cancelled after one season even though it had previously announced it has been renewed for a second season.
The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League was founded by chewing gum magnate Philip K. Wrigley with tryouts held at Wrigley Field in Chicago. In the series, the field is owned by "Morris Baker," owner of a candy bar company, likely inspired by Franklin Mars of Chicago-based Mars, Inc. Mars acquired Wrigley in 2008.
