Roxane Mesquida, Beau Mirchoff, Avan Jogia, and Kelli Berglund in Now Apocalypse (2019)

Trivia

Now Apocalypse

Edit
The first season was filmed in 40 days.
Despite the number of sex scenes, Gregg Araki said in an interview that they had neither the time nor the budget to have intimacy coordinators on set, but said it was nonetheless a top priority for everyone on set to feel comfortable at all times.
Kelli Berglund, a former Disney Channel child/teen actor, said during an interview that she'd never done any sort of intimate scene or nudity on camera before, so it was nerve-wracking at first to perform naked and in sex scenes. She auditioned for the role to move on from the good-girl mold she had been playing for years on Disney. Berglund was excited about it, too, saying, "I'm representing something bigger, with female sexuality and being confident with that, because my character, Carly, finds her confidence through sexuality. She's not scared. She's embracing it, and that sends a message to everyone watching it." She also admitted that being nude was very liberating, saying, "You know what? It's just a body. That's life. We do that in real life, so why not try it on screen? People are just afraid because it feels taboo. People are afraid to watch it, but it's human."
Creator Gregg Araki based the some part of the character of Severine on Tasha McCauley, Joseph Gordon Levitt's wife, who is a scientist.
When asked about nudity waivers and intimacy coaches during an interview, actress Roxane Mesquida, who is nude and has sex in the show, said, "That's such an American question. We don't have that in France. It's not in the contract. It's more like a conversation with the director and the actors. It just always felt weird to me that you have to put everything in a contract and you have all these men and lawyers and all these people speaking about your own body. I feel like Americans are more prudish than French people. You can always say no as an actor. What are they going to do? They're not going to force you to be naked. We have more power than we think. That's the thing. We are women but we're not victims. We're strong and we can say no."
