Mogli Takes a Long, Hard Look at Herself in Her "Mirror" Music Video
Image

Mogli is a multitalented artist whose influence goes beyond the indie-hypnotic sound her projects provide. The German creative is an independent artist who takes full control of the projects she puts out without the noise of a record label. Mogli gained international recognition with her debut album, "Wanderer," which was the soundtrack to her 2017 Netflix documentary, "Expedition Happiness." Following its release, Mogli was creatively inspired and released her "Patience" EP in 2019. The EP was accompanied by a tour, which unfortunately resulted in a burnout and depression period in the artist's life.

This time in her journey launched the artist into a new period of self-discovery and healing. She created her latest project, "Ravage," which will debut as a full album with an epic companion film on May 12. "Even though it all ties together now, when I started out, it was just an album," Mogli tells Popsugar.

‘Alone’ Review: Misery Is Company in Tense Thriller About a Woman’s Flight From a Serial Killer
Image
Unpleasantly effective “Alone” centers on a heroine who wishes she were just that; instead, she’s got insistent, unwanted company in the form of a probable serial killer. John Hyams’ U.S. remake of a not-particularly-well-regarded 2011 Swedish thriller is an apparent improvement in all departments, with the original’s reported plausibility issues and other flaws subsumed in what emerges a tense, muscular suspense exercise.

After playing the Fantasia Festival’s virtual edition, it gets released by Magnet to theaters and on demand Sept. 18. With its compellingly simple narrative of automotive pursuit and wilderness survival, this is a scary movie especially suited to the surprise resurgence of drive-ins.

Jessica (Jules Willcox) is introduced loading a small U-Haul trailer with her possessions before driving out of Portland, seemingly for good. It takes a while before we learn that she’s leaving in the wake of a grave personal tragedy that’s referenced but not really explained.

Video Interview: Teddy Grennan Talks Ravage (Exclusive)
Annabelle Dexter-Jones in Swing Low (2019)
It’s not always necessary for horror genre protagonists to play by the rules in order to survive their harrowing ordeals; in fact, it’s often more exciting for audiences to experience the heroes’ frightful journeys when they break the standard precedents that cinema presents in other genre. In the new thriller, ‘Ravage,’ actress Annabelle Dexter-Jones’ heroine, […]

Sun Valley Film Festival Founder Emerges as Genre Filmmaker on the Rise
Sun Valley Film Festival founder Teddy Grennan was driving through central Virginia near his home in Charlottesville when he stumbled upon a feature news segment on NPR in which a rancher was discussing the use of pesticides and GMOs in cattle.

“The reporter from NPR was trying to get this rancher to talk about how pesticides and GMOs were bad for cows,” says Grennan, “and the rancher let the [reporter] finish and then says, ‘let me tell you something. The inside of a cow is one of the most toxic environments in the world. You put anything in the world in there and it’s going to digest it.’ And I thought, what if you stuff a person in it?”

That one thought — dark and twisted as it may be — formed the basis of what would become Grennan’s directorial debut, “Swing Low,” an indie slasher movie that he wrote with...
