‘The Apothecary Diaries’ Doomed a Similar Anime With Better Leads Than Maomao and Jinshi That Might Never Get a Season 2
Image
The Apothecary Diaries is definitely one of the best anime that effectively joins palace intrigue and mystery. It is making a name for itself as one of the most original anime ever created, but these subjects have also been tackled before.

An anime called Raven of the Inner Palace is spiritually similar to The Apothecary Diaries, but it is not half as famous as the latter. This show also dives deep into courtly politics and introduces fantastical elements, making it a compelling series.

However, it sadly got overshadowed by the much more popular franchise of The Apothecary Diaries. Now, loyal fans of Raven of the Inner Palace have also pretty much left all hope of it ever getting a second season.

Raven of the Inner Palace showcases a beautiful platonic bond

Perhaps the best aspect of this story, which some might even consider better than having an outright romantic relationship,...

TV Show Sets That Were Recycled for Other Series
Image
Unlike a movie set, which will probably only stand for a few months, a TV set might have to hold out for anywhere from a few weeks for an unproduced pilot to several decades. When it ends up being closer to the former, or even once a behemoth has ended, it’s a shame to let it go to waste. That’s why even some of the most iconic TV sets can get repurposed like a Goodwill lamp.

5 The Munsters Mansion

It might have looked spooky in black and white, but the Munsters mansion was actually a charming Victorian built on the Universal Studios lot that appeared in several movies before that famous family moved in. It went on to appear mostly unnoticed in TV shows like Dragnet and Quantum Leap before it was sold to a Desperate Housewife and became 4351 Wisteria Lane, a home that seemed to lead to...

10 Game of Thrones Characters Who Should Have Been Way More Important
Image
Game of Thrones may be one of HBO's best and most successful shows ever, but it is also one of the most criticized by fans. Season 8 turning Daenerys Targaryen into an uncontrollable villain and Jon Snow into a queen-killer was the show's most divisive decision, and that is far from being the only frustrating plot point for viewers. Even though George R. R. Martin has yet to finish writing the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, readers of the released novels also argue that many abandoned storylines on the show should have been way more important.

Whether it is because they are more important in the books or simply because they are cast aside and forgotten on the show, certain characters among the vast ensemble cast remain underused throughout the seasons. Characters like Lady Catelyn Stark, for example, have great prominence for a few seasons, but are cut from the story too soon,...

10 Quirkiest Female Anime Love Interests, Ranked
Image
It takes thoughtfulness to create a quirky female love interest in anime without falling into any annoying stereotypes. Their traits should be nuanced. There's a difference between a character who is very animated and goofy because they have niche interests and a fun sense of humor, and a character who is goofy for drama or fan service.

A well-written quirky girl or woman feels more like an eccentric individual than the tired "not like the other girls" trope. Eccentric love interests may have secret identities, or have a unique way of expressing creativity. Some have very granulated interests, like Maomao of The Apothecary Diaries, whose astute scientific mind leads her to enjoy ingesting poisons.

A Disturbing Game of Thrones Theory May Explain the Show's Biggest Bran Mystery
Image
Bran's story arc in Game of Thrones is one of the least explained. Just as wild as the development of Emilia Clark's character, Bran Stark falls from a tower and, ever since, has been visited by the Three-eyed Raven in his dreams. Bran travels North and meets Jojen and Meera Reed, who guide Bran on his journey beyond the Wall. Like Bran, Jojen has mysterious powers, but unlike Bran, who can get into an animal's skin, Jojen has prophetic dreams, known as green dreams. His main purpose is to guide Bran to the Three-Eyed Raven so that Bran can become the next Three-Eyed Raven.

Game of Thrones only has enough screen time to show viewers the crucial events that happened in the past. Through the Three-Eyed Raven's lessons that teach Bran how to see different points in time, viewers discover secrets about Jon. Exactly what being the...

However, just like the recently launched title of the series, this game too is facing heavy backlash due to its maps. Things were getting steady when Raven just released one of its classic maps, but everything went down to the wire as the developers decided to pull it out of the rotation, just to save its most criticized map.

Where Are The X-Men: First Class Cast Now, 13 Years Later
Image
X-Men: First Class rebooted the X-Men franchise in 2011, but over a decade later, all the actors involved have moved on to other exciting opportunities. While the MCU was steadily growing in scale to become the elite franchise it is today, Fox was attempting to revive one of their most popular IPs, the X-Men. After the success of their original trilogy, it was worthwhile revisiting the superheros from Marvel.

All things considered, the movie did a great job at providing an alternative origin story for the unstoppable X-Men. And a big part of that success came down to the casting. The original X-Men trilogy nailed the casting for many of the iconic heroes, but X-Men: First Class navigated the issue in a clever way as it explored several alternative figures, and only recast two pivotal characters as younger versions of themselves. Today, the cast have all continued to excel in their field,...

Emilia Clarke’s Game of Thrones aired its final season in 2019 and fans still can’t get over how bad the final season was. Quick Links What Are M. Night Shyamalan's Cameos About? M. Night Shyamalan Plays Lady Raven's Uncle in Trap How M. Night Shyamalan's Uncle Influences Trap's Ending

The following contains major spoilers for Trap, now playing in theaters. This article also contains brief mention of suicide.

When it comes to thought-provoking horror, M. Night Shyamalan's movies are right up there. Even when they're not executed in the best manner, they still build a lot of conversation. It's seen with jaw-dropping efforts like The Sixth Sense, or flicks that leave fans wondering why they invested time and money, per The Happening.

That said, people are always curious and excited to see what Shyamalan's twists will be. Some are laughable, while others really create an enjoyable narrative. M. Night Shyamalan's Cameo In Trap Explained
Image
M. Night Shyamalan has a significant role in Trap, playing Lady Raven's uncle and aiding the plot's progression. Shyamalan's daughter, Saleka, portrays Lady Raven, adding a meta quality to their on-screen relationship. In Trap, Shyamalan's character plays a pivotal role in the story, unlike his minor cameos in recent films.

M. Night Shyamalan is the director of Trap, but he also has a small role in the new thriller. Like many famous filmmakers, Shyamalan is no stranger to appearing in his own filmography, with appearances in movies like The Sixth Sense, Split, and Knock at the Cabin. The trend continues with his latest feature, where he joins stars Josh Hartnett and Ariel Donoghue in the Trap cast.

Trap features Josh Hartnett as Cooper, a man splitting his time between two lives as a family man and as a serial killer. He takes his daughter, Riley, to a concert for a pop artist named Lady Raven,...

Review: Josh Hartnett Runs Away With The Show in Trap
Image
Night Shyamalan's Trap drops the hardest early 2000s-ass theatrical vibes I've seen in a hot minute. It's a Hitchcock x CW lockbox collaboration, except the box is the size of a Philadelphia arena. There's room for Shyamalan's shiftiness to breathe, misdirect, and overindulge — which isn't always a blessing. Trap is a tale of two halves; one the "killer in a stadium" mouse hunt, the other an "outside" procedural as the pursuit intensifies. The problem is, those halves don't play nice. Conceptual ambition transforms into contrived criminal escape antics, turning giddy chuckles into eye-roll sighs — but its divisiveness will be salvation for some.

Josh Hartnett stars as Cooper Adams, a Pennsylvania serial killer who strolls right into an elaborate capture plot. Cooper — the perfect father when not dismembering victims — treats his darling daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to see her favorite musician: Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan). The concert, while real, is an...

Call of Duty Zombies – What Could’ve Been Early development started on Call of Duty: Zombies after Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Was That's So Raven Not Even Originally Intended for Raven-Symoné?

10 Disney Channel Shows That Deserve The Reboot Treatment After Wizards Of Waverly Place

Classic Disney shows like Lizzie McGuire and Good Luck Charlie deserve a reboot to cater to the desires of their original audience. A revival of Jessie could explore whether Jessie was successful in Hollywood and show her as a new parent. A reboot of K.C. Undercover could follow K.C. as a newly graduated spy trying to balance a normal job and secret missions.

Ever since the news of the Wizards of Waverly Place reboot with Selena Gomez hit the internet, the spark of hope for other Disney shows to receive revivals has been reignited. Even though Disney Channel has been going through a rough patch in terms of producing hit teen series, there are plenty of beloved classic shows that no one is ready to say goodbye to yet. TV Revivals Keep Getting Greenlit … and Canceled
Image
TV’s IP fetish is no coincidence. Recognizable titles and stars can guarantee strong initial tune-in off of modest marketing. But long-term results are lackluster. Just look at the past decade’s worth of revivals. Different from reboots or remakes, risky ventures in their own right, a revival features original castmembers of long-departed series revisiting characters for whom there’s an assumed appetite. Viewers aren’t often as hungry as studio brass would like. The average life span of recent revivals is three seasons, while their originals averaged eight-year runs. So as Paramount+ kicks off October by nixing one revived comedy (iCarly, starring Miranda Cosgrove, above) and attempting to mount another (Frasier with Kelsey Grammer, which premiered Oct. 12), The Hollywood Reporter examines 10 case studies from this revivals wave and where they went right … or horribly wrong.

Who Was GoT's Three-Eyed Raven? Targaryen Theory Explained
Image
The identity of the Three-Eyed Raven remains a mystery, but the books suggest that he may be Brynden Rivers, a Targaryen Bastard. House of the Dragon provides evidence that the Targaryens knew of the White Walker threat and sent Brynden to the Wall as a defense. If the Three-Eyed Raven is indeed Brynden Rivers, it deepens the Night King's hatred and strengthens the link between House Targaryen and the White Walkers. However, ultimately, the character's identity doesn't matter much in Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones left a lot of mysteries unresolved including the question of who the Three-Eyed Raven was. Bran’s Three-Eyed Raven predecessor was the last greenseer human living beyond the Wall with the Children of the Forest. Portrayed by Max von Sydow in season 6, the Three-Eyed Raven guides Bran Stark to the cave where his human body lives before teaching him the wisdom that comes with their gift.

What Happened to the Cast of The Exorcist?

The Exorcist had many impressive actors and actresses who went on to have a wide range of careers. Linda Blair has never been able to escape her iconic role as the possessed girl Regan. Every Ending In Armored Core 6 Explained (In Detail)
Image
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon features various different endings. Each ending has its own title, and late-game choices determine which ending is achieved. Some endings are only achieved after beating the game.

Although playing through the missions of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon makes for mostly straightforward progression, the game's multiple endings can be a bit puzzling for the uninitiated. Marking the series' long-awaited return, over ten years after its previous entry in 2012, Armored Core 6 is a large departure from recent FromSoftware's games - especially the massive hit, Elden Ring. What will be familiar to those familiar with Souls games, however, are the different possible ways for the game's story to end - although, given the mission-based structure of Armored Core, the conditions to meet for specific endings aren't nearly as obscure.

Like most past games in the series, Armored Core 6 follows a mission-based structure, with a...

Minore: Raven Banner Picks up Worldwide Rights For Greek Horror-Comedy
Image
Our friends at Raven Banner have picked up the worldwide rights for the Greek horror-comedy, Minore. It is set to have it's European premiere at FrightFest in London, England, at the end of the month.    ... a Greek seaside port is invaded by mysterious tentacled creatures from the ocean floor. It's up to a small gang of misfits made up of musicians, a sailor, a bodybuilder, and one grannie to save the city from this Lovecraftian terror from the deep.   We caught Minore when it had its world premiere at Fantaspoa back in the Spring. We liked the use of practical effects and gore, combined with goofy digital effects in the movie's climax.   You will find the trailer below the bried announcement.    Raven...

Twisted Metal Season 2 Needs The Real Raven (Not Neve Campbell's Character)
Image
The character Raven in Twisted Metal season 1 differs greatly from the original video game version, which has received criticism from fans. The personalities and ages of the two Ravens indicate that they are two different characters, with distinct characteristics and motivations.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Twisted Metal season 1.

With Twisted Metal season 2 likely on the horizon, a proper version of Raven deserves to be added to the series. Based on the video game series of the same name, Twisted Metal has been met with great praise regarding its interpretations of the characters and their respective stories. In just one season alone, Twisted Metal has found room for a number of characters tied to the game, Raven included.

Wacky Teaser for the Supernatural Winter Epic 'Hundreds of Beavers'
Image
"Steroidally swollen with gags and smarts." Raven Banner will be releasing this film later in the year, but until then get a first look at this wacky, mesmerizing B&w indie film called Hundreds of Beavers. Made by animator / editor Mike Cheslik, this has been touring the film festival circuit already throughout 2023 - with stops at Fantasia, Cine Horror, Morbido, Cinequest, Fantaspoa, Atlanta, & others. In this 19th century, supernatural winter epic, a drunken applejack salesman must go from zero to hero and become the greatest fur trapper by defeating hundreds of beavers. "The film captures zany and anarchic energy by featuring a new gag every few seconds. It has many one-offs but similarly builds momentum with slower build-ups and call-backs that keep the experience fresh and surprising. A man-versus-nature narrative about overcoming the cruel and unforgiving landscape of a northeastern winter, Hundreds of Beavers is an uproarious and dynamic theatrical experience.

Where Was Twisted Metal Filmed? The Peacock Show's Filming Locations Explained
Image
Despite being set in a post-apocalyptic world, most of the scenes in the Twisted Metal television show were filmed on location, primarily in New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans provided the ideal backdrop for the action comedy series, with its diverse settings and growing film scene. The production faced challenges, such as unbearable heat, hurricane threats, and general weather issues while filming in New Orleans. But they were able to utilize practical means for driving stunts and other scenes instead of relying heavily on special effects.

Even though Twisted Metal takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, the cast and crew of the action comedy series filmed on location for most of the scenes. The 2023 Peacock television show is based on the popular video game series of the same name, which features a demolition derby tournament called, "Twisted Metal," where contestants use weapons and whatever means necessary to kill their opponents and...

Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa in Twisted Metal (2023)
Twisted Metal Trailer: Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz Unite for Post-Apocalyptic Hijinks
Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa in Twisted Metal (2023)
Peacock's take on the Twisted Metal franchise looks to have nailed the tone of the beloved Playstation video game series.

The streaming service went public with the official trailer Monday morning, boasting a compelling post-apocalyptic tale with fine acting and comedy.

There's plenty of comedy, and the series has picked an excellent cast to tell this thrilling tale.

In this universe, the government erected big walls to close certain people out of the big cities, leaving everyone else to fight for what's outside.

It's a decent concept that seemingly translates very well to the screen.

Anthony Mackie plays John Doe on the series, a man well-known for finding things.

He's tasked with completing a missing for Neve Campbell's Raven, and his demands for payment aren't what you'd expect from someone battling for survival.

Along the way, he meets Stephanie Beatriz' Quiet, a lady who doesn't speak very much... until she's caught up in conflict.

Kelela’s Long-Awaited Return Is So Vulnerable It Scared Her
Image
Language can be intuitive, starting somewhere in your gut before transfiguring into speech. Effective communication, however, is more complex. Feelings sometimes encompass more than words can offer, making for crossed wires and missed connections. Kelela Mizanekristos, the R&b visionary who performs under the name Kelela, is aware of her gifts in this regard. Her excellent new album Raven, released last week, is a sprawling excavation of emotion. Her process, she says, relied on instinct. “I’d record the first take as I’m listening to the song for the first time,...

How Titans Finally Fixed Rachel's Raven Powers In Season 3
Image
Raven's Titans powers were finally fixed in season 3, and it laid the groundwork for Rachel Roth's character development in the fourth — and apparently last — season of the HBO Max series. In DC Comics, Raven first appeared in 1980's DC Comics Presents #26. The daughter of the human Arella (Angela in the HBO show) and the demon Trigon, Raven is an empath and magical conduit whose dark and mystical powers make her the most powerful member of DC's Teen Titans. In the comics, Raven's power far surpasses even that of the mythical Merlin — Trigon's grandson and Raven's nephew. For long-time DC Comics readers and viewers of the original Teen Titans animated series, this made Raven arguably the most highly anticipated Titans character.

Raven's Titans season 3 story arc gave her control of her powers, and some much-needed character growth in time for the live-action debut of Rachel's White Raven transformation in Titans season 4. Unfortunately,...
