Shaping up to be great

Before I start his review, I would just like to say that even though I love Gravity Falls, its affect on the cartoon community has been very negative. Due to its success, people bemoan any mystery/supernatural cartoon of any kind as a Gravity Falls ripoff. This has happened to Over the Garden Wall, Hilda, Welcome to the Wayne, and now Victor & Valentino. Seriously? Not every show is a copy of Gravity Falls. end of rant, let's get on with the review.

V&V is a love letter to Mexican culture. It reminds me a lot of the obscure Nicktoon El Tigre. It also gives me vibes of The Book of Life and Coco. If you're Mexican/Spanish/etc, you'll definitely like this show. I know I did and I recognized a lot of the culture.

The characters are very quirky and believable. The animation is alright (although it looks too similar to other CN shows on at the moment). The opening theme is well-composed. The show has a lot of supernatural and mystery elements to it that shape it up to be an exciting series. It's episodic as of now, but it will likely get more story driven as time. The only issue I have with the series is that it can get a little boring, but that's really my problem since I'm tired all the time and have a short attention span.

A mexican gravity falls

Well this was one of the few cartoons on the cartoon network line up I was looking forward to and now I can give it a proper review.

After watching around 4-5 episodes of this it is safe to see it is good show but it could be improved.

This show is like gravity falls but shorter.

It is about two boys who in each episode have a magical mystery.

In terms of plot it is good but just like the problem with every cartoon network show on currently it is an eleven minute format and realistically to make it more plot devoted it could be 22 minutes.

Also the animation/art style is too similar to other shows on cartoon network. But other then that it is a decent show.

I've seen better.

This show seems to rely heavily on the "Gravity Falls"-esque setting without giving much in terms of a plot. Who are these boys? Why are they in this town? These questions have little to no answers with an art style that looks suspiciously like the Ben 10 reboot. Not to mention the shoddy voice acting coming from Victor 80% of the time. This show could have done so much better than we've gotten so far.

it has potential

I like cartoons with magic and mysteries. i was missing that on cartoon network. the episodes actually are creative, nothing generic and predictable. it also doesn't have those cliche school episodes. it also reminds of gravity falls and a bit of adventure time

Creepy cool y chingon

We absolutely love this new show, especially the two main characters and Charlene. Can't wait to see more of her creepy badass paranormal self! For a Latinx family, one of the best shows around combining fun contemporary animation with traditional Mesoamerican myth and folklore. !Adelante chicxs! Way to go y muchas felicidades to everyone who's made this show possible!

So funny, unique and smart!

I'm really enjoying and loving Victor & Valentino it's incredibly funny, unique and smart. It's really cool to see diversity in animation. This is already a favorite for a lot of my little cousins, nephews & nieces. I'm a big fan of Diego Molano (the creator of the show) and Frankie Quinones (voice of Maria Teresa)!

Great premise ruined by awful voice acting

The show has great animation and clever writing, but this is a great example of just because you created the show, doesn't mean you should voice one of the characters. The voice acting for Virctor is monotone, emotionless, and quite frankly bland. I don't care if he created the show, his voice acting is horrible and to me ruins the show of any potential it had

Pure Entertainment

Great animation.

Great comedy.

Great voice actors.

Pretty much all I ask for from an animated show. I love watching it with the family. Keep it coming!

This series needs a story arc

The main problem this series has, in my opinion, is the lack of a story arc, similar to Gravity Falls.

The formulaic nature of the show affects it negatively, and it gets boring seeing Victor always making the same mistakes and never learning his lesson. (Or better said, the learns his lesson, but totally forgets them at the next episode)

Victor is an extremely unlikeable lead. Valentino is way more likeable, but the show often treats him like a punching bag.

I kinda wish the show had more continuity and a more ambitious story; even El Tigre managed to combine very well the comedy and more ambitious plot-lines.

Creative & hilarious Latino cartoon

The themes & culture references are Latin base. Their grandma Chata telling them to behave by spooking them that some evil supernatural being could appear to harass them. Or when Victor says "don't you know I'm loco" to Valentino referring to either Blood in Blood out or Cypress Hill's Insane in the Brain.

Just meh

This show has a lot of problems. By a lot, I mean mostly Victor. He is annoying, bratty and disrespectful. He is not very charming, funny or likeable. His voice actor honestly does a suckish voice with him. He (just like cricket from big city greens) sounds older than he should and when he tries to sound young it's painful on the ears. I like Valentino and the Grandma and that about it. The artstyle is pretty bland (it just looks like the Ben 10 and PPG reboot). I don't care for any of the mystery and paranormal town stuff, speaking of which, it's hard to deny this cartoon is disturbingly similar to Gravity Falls, a cartoon I LOVE! It's about a two siblings staying in a town with spooky going ons and secrets for the summer with their elder relative. It also feels like with the main dynamic it took inspiration from regular Show. But it is not as funny or interesting as those mentioned shows. It's just boring and bland. 5/10 from me.

Coco was just opening the door, we need more shows like Victor & Valentino

This is the first animated series focused on a Hispanic family, that i can recall, beyond Dora the Explorer, and it's great! reminds me of Gravity Falls in the best way. can't wait for more!

Formulaic monster of the week show

What started off as a Hispanic monster of the week show has become hispanic Scooby doo.

Victor and valentino, in the beginning, was a show about two boys, victor and valentino (who have a disputed relationship, as the show says they are half brothers but then doubles down on that) who pretty much save their town of monte macabre (MONTY-MACAB) on a regular basis.

This show has a formula that it follows pretty strictly with little variation. One of the characters is doing something (some episodes skip this part) Something (be it one of the other characters, or an external force) causes the character(s) to kickstart the plot. Monster is introduced. The problem is introduced a short time after. Time. Problem solved (status quo)

In earlier episodes, it was a bit (a lot) less obvious that it followed this formula, plus the writing didn't make tap water seem like one of mankind's groundbreaking achievements. Now its quite literally like Scooby-Doo

or Power Rangers but animated because monster of the week, cheesy writing and formulaic plots (but i like power rangers, it was meant to be that way)
