'Ghostbusters' Ernie Hudson Joins 'Toy Story 5' in Place of Late Carl Weathers
Image
Despite the passing of Carl Weathers last year, his Toy Story character Combat Carl will return for Toy Story 5. Deadline reports that Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson will step in for Weathers in the upcoming Pixar sequel. Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.

The military action figure Combat Carl was a loving takeoff on Weathers' many action roles, from Predator to Action Jackson to Force 10 From Navarone. However, Hudson is no stranger to action himself; his most iconic role is the blue-collar Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore, which he played in both original Ghostbusters movies and their two latter-day sequels. He has also starred in the high-octane actioners Leviathan, The Crow, Congo, and The Substitute. Hudson is an experienced voice actor, as well; he voiced Cyborg in The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians in the 1980s, and has gone on to provide voices for Transformers: Prime, Infinity Train,...

Modern Cartoons Owe Everything to This 17-Year-Old Fantasy Cartoon Network Series
Image
Animation has come a long way since its inception. The meticulous hand-drawn frames of yore have given way to digital techniques, and things like ink and paint have been replaced by Cintiq art tablets. However, one thing has remained the same: every animated work draws inspiration from something else.

Today, there are more remarkable animated shows to see than ever before. Disney and Hanna-Barbera no longer control the narrative. Now, audiences can find something to pique any interest. Shows like Amphibia and The Owl House appeal to the whimsical whims of fantasy fans. Anyone with an itch for something more mysterious can turn to Infinity Train and Gravity Falls. For comedy, Chowder and Regular Show are always available. All these shows seem wildly different, but they’re all connected to the same source. More specifically, their creators were all protégés of Thurop Von Orman and J. G. Quintel’s Cartoon Network show,...

Quick Links How Infinity Train Became One of Cartoon Network's Most Popular Animated Series Why Was Infinity Train Canceled? Owen Dennis Deserves To Finish His Original Plan For Infinity Train

Every so often, there comes a TV show that becomes the unfortunate victim of an untimely cancelation despite having grown a large and dedicated fan base that would normally justify a further continuation. During its mere four-season run, Infinity Train gained such a following, along with the potential to become Cartoon Network's next Adventure Time-level phenomenon. With such a unique premise and a consistent ability to tell stories that captured and maintained the attention of animation fans, the show certainly had the potential to last much longer than it did, and even its creator, Owen Dennis, had plans to do so. Sadly, those plans were forced to cease further development as Warner Bros. decided instead to cancel the show.

Despite Being an Upper Moon, Akaza Would Never Make it as a Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps Unless He Becomes Like Inosuke or Genya
Image
Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer has grown to be one of the most popular new-gen Shonen series, especially for the epic action-centred narrative. While the story primarily revolves around Tanjiro Kamado, other characters like Akaza and Nezuko have been fan favorites since he was featured.

Though he was one of the most detested characters for killing Kyojuro Rengoku, the Fire Hashira, the community grew sympathy for him as they learned about his past; the very least that they felt was no hate for the character.

The viewers were impressed by his dedication to becoming the strongest in both the Kizuki lineup and the humans. In the process, he would eliminate his targets with nothing but his sheer fist. Though he is an Upper Moon 3, he would not have made the cut to be a Hashira, and a fitting reason follows it.

Despite the abrupt endings, dedicated fan communities keep theories, fan fiction, and petitions alive for these beloved series.

Shows like Generator Rex and Sym-Bionic Titan left fans hanging with big stories still in play. These shows were cut off just as they were about to dive into exciting new plots, leaving viewers feeling like the shows deserve a second chance. Even though these series ended too soon, the unanswered questions and unfinished stories still stick with fans even decades later.

10 Shows Like Hazbin Hotel To Watch While You Wait For Season 2
Image
Shows like BoJack Horseman paved the way for Hazbin Hotel's clever comedy and deep storytelling through animation. The Owl House offers a fantasy world with a found family story like Hazbin Hotel, but family-friendlier. Infinity Train showcases inventive character design in a strange setting similar to Hazbin Hotel.

The second season of Hazbin Hotel might be coming faster than the five years it took to produce season 1, but it is still a ways off. Luckily, there are plenty of good shows for fans to watch until then. Hazbin Hotel follows Princess of Hell Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen) on her mission to redeem Hell's Sinners, supported by her girlfriend Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz). Only shows with similarly clever comedy interwoven with a meaningful story will be able to fill the gap left by Hazbin Hotel at least for the time being.

10 Amazing Fantasy Cartoons That Completely Flew Under The Radar
Image
Older fantasy cartoon shows, like Visionaries and The Pirates of Dark Water, deserve more recognition for their unique storytelling and world-building. Animation is often pigeonholed as children's shows, but series like Gargoyles and Xiaolin Showdown prove that cartoons can be rich and complex. Infinity Train, despite its critical acclaim, struggled to gain a large audience but stands out for its creativity, emotional depth, and relatable characters.

Even though they went unnoticed, many amazing fantasy cartoon television shows deserve more recognition. Whether they're older series from when animation was first evolving as a genre or more recent shows that have been overshadowed by more popular series, these shows are iconic enough to have generated a cult following. Combining fantasy and animation can be risky in terms of getting the audience's attention, but they open many doors for art style and storytelling. Newer fantasy series have been gaining popularity, so older shows should also get their due.

My Adventures With Superman Is 'the Flip Side' of The Boys
Image
Compared to his other massive superhero IP, Jack Quaid takes great pride in My Adventures With Superman's utter sincerity.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Quaid discussed the appeal of Adult Swim's new anime-inspired DC show and how it pairs up against the darkly satirical vibe of Prime Video's The Boys. "I've been lucky to be a part of superhero things like The Boys, but what I love about this project is how earnest and sweet it is," he said. "It's kind of the flip side to The Boys. It's so honest and so genuine, not snarky in the slightest."

Additionally, Quaid felt that his The Boys character, Hughie Campbell, might find something to like in My Adventures With Superman. "It probably reminds him of Starlight, you know?" the actor said. "Since Starlight is the one superhero on The Boys who...

Lena Headey to Topline Kurt Sutter’s Netflix Western ‘The Abandons’

Game of Thrones star Lena Headey is headed west — specifically, to the Oregon of the 1850s — for her next TV series.

Headey will star in The Abandons, a western from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. The show, which received a straight-to-series order in October 2022, follows a group of outlier families in 1850s Oregon who “pursue their Manifest Destiny [while] a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out,” per the show’s description.

Daredevil Showrunner Calls For Huge Penalties In Wake Of TV Cancellations
Image
The original showrunner for Netflix's hit show Daredevil is speaking out against the ongoing TV cancelations for shows that have already been filmed. Daredevil was a highly successful series centering around Marvel's blind superhero Matt Murdock, who also serves as a defense attorney for impoverished parties. Though it proved to be a major hit, the show canceled after Marvel Studios and Disney rescinded the rights to the Defenders from Netflix, causing Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher to lose any hope for a Netflix renewal. Those cancelations were somewhat planned, but that hasn't been the case across Hollywood. The early 2020s have seen massive cancelations sweeping across the industry, leading to major projects being shuttered even after filming has been completed.

With HBO Max wiping clean its slate of movies and TV shows, 2022 saw countless productions completely disappear with HBO vowing to stop producing scripted shows,...

Warner Bros. Discovery Is Done Cutting Shows
Image
Warner Bros. Discovery has spent months cutting movies and shows, but the company has announced that the culling is over. After the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery, the newly merged company began reducing its roster of content, cutting shows like Infinity Train, Westworld, and Minx with impunity. Even the highly anticipated DC movie Batgirl, which had already completed production, was canceled. The turnover has caused massive outcry, especially as several animated shows were removed from HBO Max without warning, causing them to be lost forever.

Yet it appears that, despite the loss of so many productions, the turnover at Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO Max is finally at an end. While David Zaslav, the new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, defended HBO show removals, it won't remain a common practice. In an interview with Deadline, the CFO of Warner Bros. Discovery, Gunnar Wiedenfels, revealed that the new year means that...

256 ‘Looney Tunes’ Shorts, 3 Seasons of ‘The Flintstones’ Removed from HBO Max
Image
After a year of content purging and cancellations, HBO Max saved one last cull for the new year. On December 31, the streamer removed 256 “Looney Tunes” shorts and three seasons of “The Flintstones,” IndieWire has confirmed.

The “Looney Tunes” shorts were marketed as “Seasons” 16-31 on the platform. Released between 1950 and 2004, the removed shorts include some of the most acclaimed in the series, such as “What’s Opera, Doc?” and “Duck Amuck.” Seasons 4-6 of “The Flintstones,” consisting of 26 episodes each, were removed. Seasons 1-15 of “Looney Tunes,” a compilation of 255 shorts released between 1930 and 1949, and the first three seasons of “The Flintstones” remain available for streaming on the platform.

The “Looney Tunes” and “Flintstones” series were licensed to HBO Max via an intra-company deal, as Warner Bros. owns both the short film franchise and the Hanna-Barbara series. According to a source, HBO Max opted not to renew the licensing agreements...

HBO Max’s Latest Show Cuts Are Making a Dent Without ‘House of the Dragon’ for Cover | Charts
Image
HBO Max recently announced another round of show cancellations and removals from its platform, echoing the first wave of cuts that caught fans off guard in August. At that time, a hugely successful “House of the Dragon” premiere helped make up for the loss of shows that were removed from HBO Max that month. Now that demand for that massive hit has died down, we are beginning to see the effects of these decisions impact the top level demand for HBO Max’s catalog.

The total demand for HBO Max’s catalog of shows was relatively flat from July through October. The first season of “House of the Dragon” aired episodes weekly from Aug. 21 to Oct. 23 and helped to offset any drop in demand from the August cuts. However in November, total demand for shows on HBO Max was down nearly 4 from what it had been in July, according to Parrot Analytics‘ data,...

HBO Max Cancels & Removes Two Shows, Leading To Widespread Criticism
Image
HBO Max has canceled Love Life and Minx, in a move that has drawn criticism online. The news is the latest in of a row of cost-cutting measures. Under the leadership of CEO David Zaslav, Warner Bros. Discovery - which owns HBO Max - has told investors it will make 3.5 billion in cost savings as the result of the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery. The approach to cost-cutting has led to a number of cancelations, perhaps most notably the high-profile DC adaptation Batgirl. It has also led to the removal of already completed shows and movies from its service, in addition to the reduced number of scripted series on other networks owned by Wbd.

Now, Variety reports that Love Life and Minx have been canceled by HBO Max, and will be removed from the platform. In the case of Minx, the 1970s comedy starring Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson, the...

William Jackson Harper in Love Life (2020)
‘Love Life,’ ‘The Nevers’ Canceled and Pulled From HBO Max Along With ‘Westworld’
William Jackson Harper in Love Life (2020)
HBO Max has officially canceled series “Love Life” and “The Nevers” by pulling the two shows from its slate, alongside HBO sci-fi drama “Westworld,” which was axed earlier in November after four seasons.

The decisions are attributed to Warner Bros. Discovery’s review of its content slate and efforts to slash costs at the recently merged company, which faces 3.5 billion in debt.

Earlier today, the streamer reversed course on its sophomore renewal of erotic period dramedy “Minx,” which hails from Lionsgate Television along with the romantic anthology series “Love Life,” starring Anna Kendrick and William Jackson Harper. “Love Life,” which aired its second season with the latter star in late 2021, was not yet renewed for a Season 3.

‘Minx’ Season 2 Canceled by HBO Max After Production Wraps
Image
“Minx” has gone out of print after all. HBO Max canceled its period comedy series after it was picked up for a second season last May.

Sources from Lionsgate, the production company behind the series, confirmed the cancellation to IndieWire. According to the sources, production on Season 2 recently wrapped before HBO Max opted to cancel the series, but Lionsgate TV hopes to shop the series to other outlets.

“We have enjoyed a good partnership with HBO Max and are working closely to find a new opportunity for ‘Minx,’ so current, and new viewers, can continue this journey with us,” Lionsgate said in a statement.

In addition to canceling the second season, HBO Max will also remove the first season, which premiered in March, from the platform. The nixing of “Minx” is the latest cancelation of previously greenlit projects at the streamer, including the DC movie “Batgirl” and several animated series.

Why Ending Cartoon Network's Craig Of The Creek Is A Huge Mistake
Image
2022 has been a devastating year for the world of animation. The Oscars kicked things off by relegating animated feature films to nothing more than children's fodder, Netflix is slowly disintegrating its entire animation department, an animated voice-over legend left this mortal plane far too soon, some of the best animated films of the year were unceremoniously dropped on streaming instead of being given the opportunity to shine in theaters, and HBO Max has absolutely obliterated its animation catalog, recreating the very problem that Cartoon Network was created to solve. Animators are continuing to fight for fair wages and better work environments while the industry as a whole continues to treat the medium with the same modicum of respect given to a wet newspaper.

During the HBO Max Animation Purge of 2022, which saw beloved titles like "Infinity Train," "Ok K.O.! – Let's Be Heroes," and "Close Enough" wiped from the platform,...

New Warner Bros. CEO Defends HBO Max Show Removals
Image
Despite criticism for the decisions, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav believes the company made the right decision removing a multitude of shows and movies from HBO Max. Ever since Warner Bros. and Discovery merged in April 2022, the massive new media company began to make major decisions surrounding content production across the board. While one of the company's first decisions was to stop developing new scripted shows on TNT and TBS as a cost-saving measure, recent decisions have had major impacts on their most popular streaming service, HBO Max.

While Warner Bros. Discovery boasts a collective 92.1 million subscribers between HBO Max and Discovery+, recent lineup changes to HBO Max content have shaken up the platform's public perception in recent months. With a goal of cutting costs by 3.5 billion over the next three years, the company set to work by removing content from HBO Max and canceling productions that were well...

After Killing Batgirl Warner Bros. Discovery to Purge 2 Billion in Projects
Image
In a Security and Exchange Commission filed this Monday, Warner Bros. Discovery reaches out to Wall Street to show their commitment to cost-cutting and celebrates a tax write-off between 2 billion and 2.5 billion in the July-September quarter. The money was raised by cancelling movies such as Batgirl and shelving TV shows such as Final Space and Infinity Train. Unfortunately, while the document intends to prove how Warner Bros. Discovery is focused on achieving financial stability, it also throws salt in the wounds of hundreds of people fired during the company’s merging process and all the creators whose work will never see the light of day.

Warner Bros. Discovery to Take up to 4.3 Billion in Post-Merger Restructuring Charges, Including up to 2.5 Billion in Content Write-Offs
Image
Warner Bros. Discovery, trying to right-size its cost structure on the balance sheet, said it will incur a total of between 3.2 billion and 4.3 billion in pre-tax restructuring charges related to Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia.

The media company disclosed expected ranges for the charges in an SEC filing Monday. For the third quarter of 2022, Wbd estimates it will incur 1.3 billion to 1.6 billion of restructuring charges.

“As part of its plan to achieve significant cost synergies, in Q3 2022, the company finalized the framework supporting its ongoing restructuring and transformation initiatives which will include, among other things, strategic content programming assessments, organization restructuring, facility consolidation activities and other contract termination costs,” Wbd said.

Per the filing, the total charges — to be incurred across multiple quarters, spanning Q2 2022 through Q4 2024 — are expected to comprise:

“Strategic content programming assessments,” leading to content impairment and development write-offs, of 2.0 billion to 2.5 billion;Organizational restructuring costs, including severance,...

M3GAN: Release Date, Cast, And More
Image
(Welcome to ...And More, our no-frills, zero B.S. guide to when and where you can watch upcoming movies and shows, and everything else you could possibly stand to know.)

Good news! Since we were all so obnoxiously loud about how much we loved seeing a sentient version of the cursed "Twilight" Renesmee baby robot doing aerial flips down a hallway in the trailer for Universal, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster's "M3GAN," the film is coming out even earlier than anticipated.

Blumhouse has a consistently solid track record for their horror releases, with both legacy projects like the extremely polarizing "Halloween Ends" and originals like "The Black Phone." The upcoming "M3GAN" is a new original film for the house that Blum built, and if it's as profitable as the constant trending Tweets would lead us to believe it'll be, the company may be looking at a new franchise to join "Paranormal Activity,...
