The vast repository of content on Comedy Central’s website — dating back 25 years — has been removed by parent company Paramount Global, in a move to push fans to Paramount+.

The site, at comedycentral.com, has until now hosted clips from all episodes of “The Daily Show” since 1999, as well as segments from the full 11-season run of Stephen Colbert’s “The Colbert Report,” among other video content. Thousands of “Daily Show” clips remain free to watch on YouTube, but those go back only to 2015.

The move to scrub content from Comedy Central comes after Paramount similarly pulled the full archive of MTV News from the internet on Monday, as well as articles from CMT.

As of Wednesday, Comedy Central’s archived material has vanished from its website. A notice on the site says, “While episodes of most Comedy Central series are no longer available on this website, you can watch...

If you were around in the 1990s and of the age to watch comedy films, you've probably come across the films "Tommy Boy" and "Black Sheep" starring comedians David Space and the late Chris Farley. The two were a dynamic duo on "Saturday Night Live," with Spade often playing the straight man to Farley's wild and goofy antics. Farley died of a combination of a drug overdose and heart disease in December 1997, but while they were together, they were fabulously funny.

/Film's own Joe Garza did a list of Farley's top sketches from SNL, including Lunch Lady Land, the Chippendale's sketch with Patrick Swayze, and of course, Matt Foley, motivational speaker. That final one is one of the most ridiculously weird things I've seen on TV, and watching Spade try not to break as Farley's Foley talks about living in a van down by the river and throwing himself onto a table is pure joy.

Since 1980, the weekly sketch show "Saturday Night Live" has produced eleven feature films based on its characters. "The Blues Brothers" was released in 1980 and remains one of our favorite "SNL" movies (though it's debatable how much of an "SNL" movie it is with no Lorne Michaels attached). It was another 12 years before another "SNL" movie came out, and it was worth the wait. The 1990s were the heyday for a proliferation "SNL" movies, beginning in 1992 with the beloved "Wayne's World."

The rest of the decade was hit or miss for "SNL" movies in terms of quality. We saw the return of Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtain in the heartwarming "Coneheads." Will Ferrell got his first leading role with "A Night at the Roxbury." There was an awful "Blues Brothers" sequel for some reason. Comedy Central is preparing a new weekly talk-show fronted by The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God.

The ViacomCBS cable network is set to launch the show later this year, hopefully ahead of the U.S. Presidential Election in November, according to New York Magazine, which broke the story.

It is the latest comedy talk-show for Comedy Central, which airs The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, after it cancelled Lights Out With David Spade earlier this year.

Charlamagne Tha God, also known as Lenard Larry McKelvey, is best known for his New York syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club, which was recently in the headlines thanks to a Joe Biden interview.

He was previously a cast member of MTV2’s The Guy Code and hosted Charlamagne & Friends and Uncommon Sense for the network.

Chris McCarthy, President of Entertainment and Youth Group at ViacomCBS, told NY Mag, “Charlamagne’s voice is very right for today.

“Lights Out With David Spade,” which halted production last month due to the coronavirus pandemic, will not return to Comedy Central, Variety has learned. Instead, the ViacomCBS-owned brand is preparing to shop the late-night talker — which it produces through its Comedy Central Productions — to outside networks and platforms.

The move comes as Comedy Central has experienced both a massive influx in viewers and disruption to its programming pipeline amid the pandemic.

“Lights Out” premiered last year on Comedy Central in the 11:30 p.m. time slot following “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.” Spade, one of the biggest stars to emerge from “Saturday Night Live” in the 1990s, brought an established comedic voice to a spot on the schedule that Comedy Central has struggled to find success in since the end in 2014 of “The Colbert Report” with Stephen Colbert. But “Lights Out” ultimately didn’t deliver audiences that lived up to network hopes.

Comedy Central will not bring Lights Out With David Spade back to the network.

The late-night show featuring Spade and a revolving panel of guests discussing pop culture news stopped production March 12, joining hundreds of other shows in shutting down due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Unlike most of its late-night counterparts, however, it has not resumed production yet. Spade has been producing short pieces for the network's digital and social outlets.

Despite the show's ending on Comedy Central, the ViacomCBS cable network will try to shop Lights Out to other outlets. The show is produced by Comedy Central ...

CBS TV Studios on Thursday announced that it would delay or halt production on at least a half-dozen series, including the entire NCIS franchise (Los Angeles, New Orleans and Original Flavor), as well as Bull, Dynasty and The Good Fight. Meanwhile, The Neighborhood will film its Season 2 finale without a studio audience.

Pop TV’s One Day at a Time has become the first known primetime multi-camera sitcom to forego taping in front of live audiences in the face of growing coronavirus pandemic. The comedy series, from Sony Pictures TV, has been audience-free since Tuesday. There is no information about any studios cancelling audiences for their sitcom tapings; Warner Bros. TV on Tuesday issued an advisory to audience members, “asking all guests to confirm that neither they nor any member of their household have traveled within the past three weeks to or through a location that has been deemed ‘Level 3’ by the Cdc.” The policies will likely change in light of California Gov. They join fellow Los Angeles-based series “Lights Out with David Spade,” which became the first West Coast late-night show to announce plans to forgo audiences earlier on Thursday.

On Wednesday, New York-based late-night shows — “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” Trevor Noah’s “Daily Show,” “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” and “Desus & Mero” — made similar decisions on ditching audiences, with each planning to roll out the new policy throughout the next few weeks.

The reasoning behind the choice is to show respect to the tourists who line up on the crowded and often frigid Manhattan sidewalks, multiple people with knowledge of the decision tell TheWrap.

One insider told TheWrap that out-of-state travelers, who may have trekked a long way just to see the show, are vital to a variety show’s live atmosphere. That visitor’s energy adds to an enjoyable atmosphere for the host, band and guests — and even TV viewers.

Paramount Network’s Keith Cox and Comedy Central’s Sarah Babineau are taking on new, expanded roles as ViacomCBS continues to reorganize its management structure following last month’s merger.

Ahead of David Spade’s debut Monday on Comedy Central as its newest late-night host, the network announced the first group of guest panelists for “Lights Out.”

Spade will be joined by Neal Brennan, Whitney Cummings and Erik Griffin on Monday night’s premiere episode. Additional guests for his first week include Jen Kirkman, Theo Von, Amy Schumer, Nick Swardson, Steve Byrne, Kaley Cuoco, Jim Jefferies, Al Madrigal, Sarah Tiana and his former “SNL” cast mate Dana Carvey.

In their new roles, they will have oversight for all comedy content developed across multiple platforms including linear, theatrical, live, audio and the newly-formed Comedy Central Productions. They will both report to Kent Alterman, president of Comedy Central, Paramount Network, and TV Land
