This was such a delicate story. Beautiful music and deeply touching acting. Like Michael Haneke, very fine and attentive! Departures is exploring some very interesting themes. The use of color and light, especially in the interior scenes, is amazing. Truly breathtaking performance from the lead actor, and very well shot. Recommended!

The story is touching and moving. A very intense short film with splendorous acting, photography and direction. It's pure, simple and relatable. Valeria Cavalli is graceful and assured in her role as the wife, while Giorgio Colangeli's anguish and longing give extra weight to their love story.

It is a simple but oh-so-powerful film where less is more. We've all sat through long films where you couldn't care less about the characters in the end, but in less than 15 minutes the people here are as real as can be. With the most subtle of markers, you can fill in a rich life story.
Superb acting, cinematography and direction that is pitch-perfect, no wonder it has so many awards. This seemingly straightforward rendition had a profound effect on me, one that I anticipate will stay with me for some time.
Set aside a little time to experience this simple, beautiful and moving piece of cinema.
