Set for a Japanese release this summer, Pokémon Coco is a jungle-set movie in the Pokémon universe.
The next film in the Pokémon animated movie franchise is titled Coco, and its first trailer has arrived online today. The trailer is in Japanese, by the way, since the film is premiering in Japan before its wider release. And in case you were wondering, this movie has nothing to do with the Pixar movie of the same name.
Before we get to the trailer, there's just a little bit of housekeeping to do: this movie is the third one in the fresh continuity that began with 2017's Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! and continued with 2018's Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us. This timeline is a separate one to the Pokémon anime series, and it also isn't connected to the live-action realms glimpsed in Pokémon: Detective Pikachu...

Japanese Detective Pikachu Screenings To Have Special Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Trailer
As if Pokémon fans and moviegoers alike weren’t already being spoiled enough with the imminent release of Detective Pikachu, yet another treat has been discovered via the first Japanese screenings for one of 2019’s most hotly-anticipated films. Brace yourselves, for this one’s a doozy.
Confirmed last year via the end credits for Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, The Pokémon Company announced that the film responsible for kickstarting a years-long craze, Pokémon: The First Movie, was currently in the process of being entirely remade. Radio silence has largely become the norm since then, however, with only scarce scraps of new info dropped over the last few months. Perhaps the biggest surprise to surface so far is the revelation that unlike the original, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will be an entirely CGI affair, meaning there’ll be no hand-drawn depictions of Ash Ketchum or his various ‘Mons in sight this time around.

Warner Bros. released the first trailer for the Pokémon franchise’s debut live-action film, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, which stars Ryan Reynolds voicing the CGI-rendered Pikachu.
In a departure from the long-running animated series, this Pikachu speaks English, but character Tim Goodman, played by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Justice Smith, is the only human who can understand the creature. (Pokémon and humans have historically understood one another despite linguistic barriers; some Pokémon in prior installments of the franchise have communicated in human languages.)

The Pokémon Company announced Monday that the latest “Pokémon” movie, which released in Japanese theaters earlier this year, will be coming westward as “Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us.”
The feature-length anime presentation is set in an original timeline featuring a new and unique art style, new characters, and a wealth of other fun surprises for fans. Continuing last year’s “Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You,” it follows young trainer Ash as he journeys with his signature Pikachu partner and continues his Pokémon-capturing adventures. The movie takes place in the seaside town of Frau City, where an annual festival celebrating Lugia is held each year in reverence of the creature, as it saved the town from certain doom years prior.
When the festival’s livelihood is put at risk, Ash must team up with others in Frau City to bring it to fruition, while facing off against a cavalcade of Pokémon,...

If you're a fan of making pacts with wind gods or watching a manic pixie dream girl learn how to capture wild animals, boy are you going to love this new trailer for Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us! All kidding aside, I love the idea of transitioning the story of Pokémon from its anchor point on Ash Ketchum/Satoshi and Pikachu to a wider range of characters whom a more diverse range of viewers might be able to relate to, male and female, young and old.
