Ahead of the premiere of Season 2, the series was canceled, but the first half of the season premiered as normal. The second half will close out the series, beginning with two episodes being released on Disney Channel and Disney Xd on Feb. 6, starting at 8 a.m. Est. The new batch of episodes of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will pick up shortly after Lunella's victory over the reality-warping Molecule Man.

Former employees at Pixar have been left feeling worried and disappointed by Disney's decision to cut a transgender story and character from the upcoming Pixar series Win or Lose. Chanel Stewart, who voiced the character that was cut, had already expressed her sadness over the cut storyline. Stewart isn't alone in those sentiments, though, as many past and present Pixar employees alike are now speaking up.

Sarah Ligatich, a former Pixar assistant editor who consulted on the cut episode of Win or Lose, expressed her dissatisfaction with Disney's decision to The Hollywood Reporter. Ligatich, who is transgender herself, said:

“It hardly surprised me, but it devastated me. For a long time, Disney has not been in the business of making great content. They have been in the business of making great profits. Even as far back as two years ago when I was at Pixar, we had a meeting with [then-ceo] Bob Chapek,...

Disney’s recent choice to remove a transgender character’s plot from Pixar’s upcoming animated series “Win or Lose” has stirred up controversy. Since the series, which centers on a middle school softball team, will now portray the character Kai as cisgender, former Pixar employees have expressed their disapproval of the move. This change stands out because the character’s voice is done by transgender actor Chanel Stewart.

People are paying more attention to how Disney portrays LGBTQ+ people, which led to its decision. The company told The Hollywood Reporter that the change was necessary because “many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their terms and timeline.”

A Disney spokesperson confirmed the alteration, saying, “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”

Disney declined any further details on the episode in question.

When Pixar’s “Lightyear” was released in 2022, staff at the Emeryville, California-based animation studio protested when, shortly before release, a fairly innocuous same-sex kiss was removed. Disney finally caved and reinserted the moment, as it was very much a part of the ongoing discussion that had to do with Disney’s failure to oppose Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Pixar’s original animated series Win or Lose will no longer include a transgender storyline in a later episode, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The 2025 Children’s and Family Emmy Awards announced its nominations on Thursday. This is the third year since these categories were separated from the Daytime Emmys in an extensive restructuring of the television academies’ TV awards. While this kind of news usually has an equal chance of being just speculation, the reveal was given weight by storyboard artist Gabi Rode, who shared a comment that seemed to confirm the news.
