Everything Coming to Hulu and Disney in February 2025
Image
Say goodbye to those New Year greetings and memes, because February is almost here. Time to really sink our teeth into 2025 and how it’ll look, and of course that means beefing up your watchlist. As always the libraries of Hulu and Disney+ (and multiple available bundles) are here to help, with new shows and movies (both family friendly and… a little unfriendly) available to stream.

Along with ongoing episodes of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” Disney+ will debut all of “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” Season 2 and plenty of other great titles for young viewers. “The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl” special will recapture the magic of a live performance, and “Harlem Ice” follows a girls’ figure skating team through their competitive season.

Hulu will feature ongoing episodes of the new drama “Paradise,” and if you want more White House action there’s Viacom’s “The Oval,...

Disney Is Trying to Appeal To The Largest Audience Possible and The Media Is Mad
Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Jaboukie Young-White in Avalonia, l'étrange voyage (2022)
Recently, Disney has seemingly been pivoting in its efforts to appeal to a larger demographic and family audience. For years, they have been chasing more niche groups, and it has led to box office disappointment. They seem to be pivoting back to the larger audience, and the media is crying foul. One reporter actually claimed that Disney is chasing “the most vocally angry fringe of their audience,” and this “has lost Disney and Pixar the respect and love of many fans.”

Actually. No.

Disney is pivoting to chase the silent majority that didn’t go to the theater for “Strange World,” “Lightyear,” or even “Wish.”

Disney is trying to win the family demographic back, and to do so they are willing to anger the “vocally angry fringe.”

“Inside Out 2” became the biggest animated film of all time and is also in the top ten box office totals. Disney also reportedly censored it,...

Ex-Pixar Employees Reveal Disney's Conservative Politics
Image
Former employees at Pixar have been left feeling worried and disappointed by Disney's decision to cut a transgender story and character from the upcoming Pixar series Win or Lose. Chanel Stewart, who voiced the character that was cut, had already expressed her sadness over the cut storyline. Stewart isn't alone in those sentiments, though, as many past and present Pixar employees alike are now speaking up.

Sarah Ligatich, a former Pixar assistant editor who consulted on the cut episode of Win or Lose, expressed her dissatisfaction with Disney's decision to The Hollywood Reporter. Ligatich, who is transgender herself, said:

“It hardly surprised me, but it devastated me. For a long time, Disney has not been in the business of making great content. They have been in the business of making great profits. Even as far back as two years ago when I was at Pixar, we had a meeting with [then-ceo] Bob Chapek,...

Disney’s recent choice to remove a transgender character’s plot from Pixar’s upcoming animated series “Win or Lose” has stirred up controversy. Since the series, which centers on a middle school softball team, will now portray the character Kai as cisgender, former Pixar employees have expressed their disapproval of the move. This change stands out because the character’s voice is done by transgender actor Chanel Stewart.

People are paying more attention to how Disney portrays LGBTQ+ people, which led to its decision. The company told The Hollywood Reporter that the change was necessary because “many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their terms and timeline.”

Former Pixar staff members are very upset about the change. Sarah Ligatich, who used to work as an assistant editor on the episode, was upset about the choice. A long time ago, Disney wasn’t making great material as a business.

Disney has once again pulled back on dialogue or storylines related to trans and gender identity issues in another Disney+ show. This time, they removed dialogue from Pixar’s upcoming “Win or Lose” show. Disney said they want to leave discussions on this subject to the parents.

The upcoming show is about a middle school co-ed softball team. Each episode will feature the backstory of a different character to show their lives. Some of the storylines will include issues like insecurity, parents, and crushes.

One team member is trans, and a few lines of dialogue were cut discussing gender identity. However, Pixar did not devote an entire episode to the subject.

A spokesperson for Disney gave this statement about the changes to “Win or Lose”,

“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.

Disney Removes Transgender Storyline From Pixar Animated Series 'Win or Lose'
Image
The upcoming Pixar series Win or Lose has pulled an episode centered around a transgender character, the second time Disney has done this within a month. Win or Lose is set to debut in February and will follow a co-ed middle school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game, with each episode centered on the point of view of a different character, including players, parents, and the coach. However, one episode of the series will not make it to air, as Disney has made a controversial decision to remove the episode due to its subject matter.

Disney has decided to remove an episode of Win or Lose that would have centered on a transgender character, according to Deadline. While the character remains in the show, a few lines of dialogue that reference gender identity are being removed from the series. Sources told Deadline that the studio...

Pixar’s ‘Win or Lose’ Series Removes Trans Subplot
Image
Pixar’s “Win or Lose,” an original series coming to Disney+, has already lost.

The animated show, which focuses on a little league’s championship game and is told from the point-of-view of various participants, deleted a storyline that involved a transgender character.

A Disney spokesperson confirmed the alteration, saying, “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”

Disney declined any further details on the episode in question.

When Pixar’s “Lightyear” was released in 2022, staff at the Emeryville, California-based animation studio protested when, shortly before release, a fairly innocuous same-sex kiss was removed. Disney finally caved and reinserted the moment, as it was very much a part of the ongoing discussion that had to do with Disney’s failure to oppose Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Disney Pulls Transgender Storyline from Pixar’s ‘Win or Lose’ Streaming Series (Exclusive)
Image
Pixar’s original animated series Win or Lose will no longer include a transgender storyline in a later episode, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The series follows a co-ed middle school softball team named the Pickles in the week leading up to their championship game. Each of the eight episodes center on the off-the-field life of a character and their point of view, whether it be a player, a parent, a coach or an umpire.

A spokesperson for Disney confirmed that the story arc was removed and provided the following statement to THR: “When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”

Disney Reportedly Scraps 'Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur' Episode Over Trans Story
Image
The critically acclaimed Marvel series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will air one less episode in its final season, as Disney has reportedly pulled one episode that featured an inclusive storyline about a trans teen. The series follows 13-year-old Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White) and her dinosaur companion as they work as the eponymous superhero duo. Despite being the best-reviewed Marvel series, Disney canceled Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur after two seasons. The animated series often tackled real-world issues that are relevant to its younger viewers in informative yet entertaining ways, and it sounds like the creator's attempt to destigmatize the vitriolic rhetoric around transgender athletes will go unheard as Disney won't air that episode.

Derrick Malik Johnson, a storyboard artist for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, mentioned in a now-deleted post on the social media site Bluesky (via Gizmodo) that One of the projects (episode) I worked on is getting...

Marvel has been in the business of moviemaking for a very long time, but in the last number of years, it has expanded its net to the small screen too. Thanks to the Disney Plus streaming service, there have been a number of shows set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe entertaining us over the past three years and there are more to come.

From the Emmy-Award-winning WandaVision to its recent spinoff Agatha All Along, there has been plenty of MCU fun on television to enjoy. That also includes the likes of Loki, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law and even animated series What If...?.

But this isn't the first time that Marvel Comics characters have headlined TV shows, as there have been multiple live-action shows over the years, as well as countless animated offerings, too. The animated shows in particular stretch back decades.

Marvel Cancels Disney Channel Series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur After 2 Seasons
Image
Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur has reportedly become the latest Marvel project to be canceled. Marvel Studios is not renowned for officially canceling their TV shows, with many of them instead gaining the limited series tag to avoid any kind of reputation for abandoning projects after a single season. However, it has been suggested that their Disney Channel animated series will not be advancing beyond its second season.

The news comes courtesy of X/Twitter user @owlphibia, who suggested that Disney Television Animation will not be following up the two highly-praised seasons of Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur with a third. While this kind of news usually has an equal chance of being just speculation, the reveal was given weight by storyboard artist Gabi Rode, who shared a comment that seemed to confirm the news. Commenting on the platform, Rode said:

David Tennant's Other Marvel Role Was Radically Different Than Kilgrave
Image
The MCU is over fifteen years old at this point, which inevitably means that some of Hollywood's biggest actors have appeared in different projects across the franchise as multiple characters. Stars like Judy Greer, Linda Cardellini, Josh Brolin, and Nathan Fillion, to name but a few, are examples of this trend, as is former Jessica Jones big bad actor David Tennant. Tennant debuted as part of the Marvel Universe in Netflix's Jessica Jones as one of the franchise's most underrated and sincerely evil antagonists, Kevin Thompson, aka Kilgrave. This power-hungry madman was responsible for terrorizing Jessica Jones by manipulating her mind and making her do his truly atrocious bidding.

With Netflix's willingness to explore darker, more mature corners of the MCU than the movies were willing to do at that time, David Tennant's performance as Kilgrave left a troubling but powerful impression on audiences everywhere. Then, out of the blue,...

“We actually got something friends,” “Origin” filmmaker Ava DuVernay said in accepting the award for drama feature — which had been previously snubbed through last year’s Oscars season. “We went through that whole awards gauntlet, and then this popped up in the summer, and I thought, ‘wow, they’re kind of off kilter for the award season!’ Because they don’t care about that… they’re doing something different. This award show that is about doing something with this medium that matters. Yes, entertainment matters, but we have such a powerful voice, such a powerful platform. So I commend everyone that’s trying to say something.”

“We are never seeing another Ben 10 in our lifetimes”: Fans Complaining About American Cartoons Haven’t Watched These 3 Recent Masterpieces Yet
Image
Millennials and early Gen Zs know the quality of cartoons that used to air on TV. Shows like Ben 10, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and more have become legendary due to their creative animation and amazing storytelling. So many iconic moments have been witnessed by kids around the world and are still remembered.

However, the old-era cartoons have been perceived to be ended. A generation that has entered adulthood seems to have a disconnect with more recent animated shows for kids. Even popular shows like Amphibia are being criticized for deriving too much from classic anime like Dragon Ball Z.

Only 1 Marvel Release Has 100% On Rotten Tomatoes, And It's Absolutely Not The 1 You Think
Image
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur holds a rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, showcasing exceptional quality among Marvel projects. Marvel's TV shows like WandaVision and Hawkeye have received excellent 92% ratings, proving consistent quality. Notably, X-Men '97 and Ms. Marvel have also achieved high Rotten Tomatoes scores, highlighting the diverse success of Marvel series.

In film and television, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has released many excellent adaptations of their beloved comic books, but only one release holds a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. In terms of the McU's TV shows, with perhaps their most impactful release, WandaVision has changed the MCU and was beloved by critics and audiences alike. While well reviewed, the series did not receive the rare perfect score. Even Avengers: Infinity War wasn't a positive clean sweep. How these shows and movies are received is subjective, and a 100% perfect score is an almost impossible benchmark.
