Erinn Hayes Joins Scott Foley In Amazon’s ‘It’s Not Like That’; Brad Silberling To Direct Pilot

Exclusive: Emmy-nominated Erinn Hayes has been tapped as the female lead opposite Scott Foley in It’s Not Like That, a faith-based drama at Prime Video. Additionally, Brad Silberling has signed on to direct the pilot.

Created by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, who also serve as showrunners, It’s Not Like That follows Lori (Hayes), who is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm’s (Foley) a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm being a modern-day minister. Is this the beginning of a love story? It’s not like that. Or is it?

It’s Not Like That, from Wonder Project, was given a cast-contingent series order at Prime Video last November and Foley’s casting, announced in February, lifted that contingency.

‘Ingrid Goes West’s Matt Spicer To Direct John Cena & Eric André In Netflix Comedy ‘Little Brother’

Exclusive: Matt Spicer (Ingrid Goes West) is set to direct Little Brother, Netflix’s comedy starring John Cena and Eric André, which was first reported on late last year.

Spicer will work from a script by Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, the creators of Netflix’s comedy Huge in France. The film centers on a famous real estate agent whose carefully curated world is upended when his eccentric “little brother” unexpectedly reappears.

Producers on the film include David Bernad for Middle Child Pictures and Ruben Fleischer.

Spicer broke out with 2017’s Ingrid Goes West, a dark comedy following the stalker of a social media influencer, starring Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen. Neon picked up the film following its premiere in competition at Sundance, where it won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, before going on to land the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. ‘Mayor Of Kingstown’ Adds Matthew Del Negro For Season 3

Exclusive: Matthew Del Negro (City on a Hill) is joining season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown.

Del Negro will play the role of Will Breen, a charming, seemingly good natured corrections officer at the Kingstown Women’s Prison. He will recur for five episodes.

The 10-episode third season of the Paramount+ drama series will premiere Sunday, June 2. In Season 3, a series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.

Most recently, Del Negro co-starred as Detective Chris Caysen on Showtime’s City on a Hill opposite Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge.

‘Long Bright River’ Adds Six In Recurring Roles

Peacock’s limited suspense thriller Long Bright River, based on the New York Times bestseller by Liz Moore, has added six in recurring roles: Dash Mihok (Ray Donovan), Britne Oldford (Dead Ringers), Matthew Del Negro (City on a Hill), Harriet Sansom Harris (Hacks), Patch Darragh (Succession), and Perry Mattfeld (In the Dark).

Mihok plays Eddie, with Oldford as Aura, Del Negro as Simon, Harris as Mrs. Mahon, Darragh as Sergeant Kevin Ahearn, and Mattfeld as Paula. As previously announced, Amanda Seyfried and Nicholas Pinnock lead a cast, also featuring Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman.

The show follows Seyfried’s police officer, Mickey, as she patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.

Nikki Toscano and Liz Moore are writing and exec producing, with Toscano serving as showrunner.

“The Missing” has added Matthew Del Negro (“City on a Hill”) to its cast, TheWrap can exclusively reveal. He will play the recurring role of Peter Hanning, a self-made billionaire, in the David E. Kelley Peacock adaptation of Israeli crime writer Dror A. Mishani‘s novel, “The Missing File.”

Previously announced cast includes Juliana Canfield (“Y: The Last Man”) as New York Police Department rookie detective Janine Harris, Karen Robinson (“Schitt’s Creek”) as the straitlaced Captain Helen Davies and Michael Mosley (“Ozark”) as veteran cop Earl Malzone. Recurring guest stars are Steven Pasquale, Stephanie Szostak and Tony Curran.

Patti LuPone and Erinn Hayes have signed on to star in the HBO Max comedy pilot “Ok Boomer,” Variety has learned.

In the show, a self-centered boomer (LuPone) shows up at her estranged daughter’s (Hayes) house hoping to live off the family’s money, but forms an unexpected bond with her progressive granddaughter who’s quick to challenge her on their differing views, of which there are plenty.

LuPone’s character, Barbara, is described as a comically outrageous, wildly impulsive, sarcastically witty individual and mother. Hayes’ character, Sarah, is a hard-working woman. A former Public Defender who’s recently become a judge, Sarah is thrown off her game when her estranged mother Barbara shows up unexpectedly.

Patti LuPone and Erinn Hayes have been tapped as the adult leads in Ok Boomer, a multi-camera comedy pilot from creator Todd Linden, the late Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare and Sony Pictures TV where the company continues to be based.

Written by Linden and to be directed by Victor Gonzalez, Ok Boomer centers on Barbara (LuPone), a self-centered boomer who shows up at her estranged daughter Sarah’s (Hayes) house hoping to live off the family’s money, but forms an unexpected bond with her progressive granddaughter who’s quick to challenge her on their differing views — of which there are plenty.

The project’s executive producers includes Vanessa McCarthy, who serves as showrunner, and Tarses, who died last month at the age of 56. Linden and Fanfare’s McCrae Dunlap co-executive produce.

‘The Grinder’ Duo to Write Comedy ‘Mr. Black’ in Development at Fox

Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul are returning to Fox.

The pair have signed on as writers of the half-hour single-camera comedy project “Mr. Black,” which was first announced as being in development back in August. Mogel and Paul previously created the Fox comedy series “The Grinder” starring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage, which aired during the 2015-2016 broadcast season. They most recently co-created the Netflix series “Huge in France” and also directed every episode of that series. They also wrote and directed the 2015 comedy feature “The D Train” as well as the 2008 Jim Carrey vehicle “Yes Man.”

“Mr. Black” is based on the Australian format of the same name. It follows the acid-tongued Mr. Black, a man who has one dying wish: to break up his adult daughter and her boyfriend – whom he happens to live with. The original series was created by Adam Zwar and produced by Cjz for Australia’s Network Ten.

Huge in France and The Grinder creators Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul have been tapped to write Mr. Black, a single-camera half-hour comedy based on the praised Australian series, which is in the works at Fox. The project hails from original series’ creator Adam Zwar and producer Cjz, Gail Berman and Fox Entertainment-owned SideCar.

Created by Zwar and Cjz based on the Network Ten series, and written by Mogel and Paul, the comedy follows the acid-tongued Mr. Black, a man who has one dying wish: to break up his adult daughter and her boyfriend — whom he happens to live with.

Mogel and Paul executive produce alongside Berman, who executive produces via SideCar which co-produces with Fox Entertainment.

Austin Abrams, Midori Francis to Star on Netflix Holiday Rom-Com Series ‘Dash and Lily’
Netflix has ordered a TV adaptation of the Ya series “Dash & Lily” from producers Nick Jonas and Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things”), the streaming service announced on Tuesday. The eight-episode, holiday rom-com show stars “The Walking Dead” alum Austin Abrams and “Good Boys” actress Midori Francis in the titular roles.

Here’s the official description for the 30-minute show, based on Rachel Cohn and David Levithan’s young adult book series, “Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares”: A whirlwind holiday romance builds as cynical Dash and optimistic Lily trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations all across New York City, finding they have more in common with each other than they would have expected.

Along with Abrams and Francis, the series stars Dante Brown, Troy Iwata, Keana Marie, James Saito and Jodi Long.
