A Curiosity, But Not Much More

It occurs to me a great film makes you feel as if you lived through the events, while with a lesser film you feel you just watched them.

This film definitely made me feel like a watcher. Although the protagonists were unusual in their motivations and deeds, the overall effect felt less than convincing at a number of points.

It was enjoyable speculating what was actually going on through the first three-quarters of the film, but the contrived ending seemed particularly inauthentic.

Having said all that, the performances were excellent and the (frequent) sex scenes were honest and forthright.

Definitely recommended for fans of Pedro Almodovar, Julio Medem, and Alejandro Iñárritu. A sensual, twisty story that follows a man trying to reconcile his past.

It was shot in Barcelona and the Valencia region (including the Serra d'Irta, Sagunto, and Buñol).
