The official YouTube channel for anisong singer ReoNa has started streaming a music video for her 10th CD single song, "Gg," which is now used as the opening theme for the second season of the Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online TV anime. On the theme of grunge, the song was arranged (and co-written) by coldrain 's guitarist Sugi , who also played guitar, while staying close to the worldview of the anime. Along with Sugi, the music video features Show of Survive Said The Prophet on drums, Kosuke of Knosis on bass, and over 70 guitarists! Sword Art Online is back for Season 2 of its Gun Gale Online saga, with the second season also getting its international release date reveal by streaming service Crunchyroll.

One of the 2010s most consumed isekai anime series is making a comeback after years of radio silence. Initially revealed at Aniplex Online Fest 2024, a new trailer and some key art have been released for the series' next installment, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online 2. The story is based on the spinoff novels by Keiichi Sigsawa and Kohaku Kuroboshi. Masayuki Sakoi, best known for Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious, is attached to direct, while Yosuke Kuroda and Yoshio Kozakai have returned from the first Gun Gale Online series run as series composer and character designer, respectively.

Crunchyroll added the highly-anticipated follow-up to Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night to its lineup on Feb. 15, starting at 5 p.m. Pst. Based on Reki Kawahara's titular light novel series, the Progressive films revisit Sword Art Online's famous "Aincrad" arc to reveal new aspects of the original story.
