I liked the premise and the ideas involved but the execution is so poor!
The acting is amateurish, the writing is lazy, the gore is boring (I didn't know it could be) and nothing about it is cohesive.
One scene made me think the film was about to go nuts and explode into something horribly entertaining, but BABY did they miss a trick here.

I thought that sayings like "I lost a few brain cells after that" or "watching that gave me cancer" were just that - sayings. But now I understand that something as bad as this movie can actually make you feel stupider after watching it and I actually got a headache which makes me think I've got a brain tumor. Please heed my warning and do NOT waste your time on this p.o.s. movie. You'll get more entertainment from watching paint dry and that is not an exaggeration.

I was looking forward to seeing this movie but it was terrible. It is so slow. Virtually nothing happens. Many of the characters have no dialogue. The main characters make nonsensical, bad decisions. It has long and pointless scenes that don't advance the plot. A disaster.

The acting is that of a typical low budget movie. That said, there were little "surprises" or "horror" in this movie. Most of what should be on-screen horror-wise happens off screen. The narrative and plot are all over the place and many of the scenes are disjointed. Without adding spoilers there are many scenes where you will be scratching your head asking how did he/she get here/there? How did he/she do that? It seemed more like a PETA commercial that was drawn out over 80 minutes and not enough story to fill it.

The plot itself is quite original and the concept is good but it's poorly executed. It tries to educate the viewers about the way humans treat animals like food, but the lack of dialogue throughout the movie and underdeveloped lead characters makes it rather a splatter film with no substance despite having a deep rooted message. it has a friendly runtime but it felt long due to drawn out scenes that serve no purpose at all. There's only little tension generated even when the protagonists are apparently in danger. The ending is shocking but a bit ridiculous.
However, the movie managed to create a creepy atmosphere, thanks to the good production design. The gore effects are realistic and very disturbing to watch to some extent. The score is hard-hitting and the acting is pretty decent. Overall, the farm had the potential and concept to be a good movie but fails at execution.

Couldn't watch the whole thing. Not explained well. Long scenes of nothing, watching a road or the back of someone walking. Music doesn't match. Just not good. In my opinion.

Everyone involved in this film should be forbidden to make another movie. Total waste of money and time. Really? This is garbage.
I like horror movies, mostly even the rubbish ones hold some sense of creepiness and horror. However this one was just boring. The idea behind this film is weird and messed up but as horror value goes there just wasnt any. I just wanted it to end due to it being uneventful. They could have done so much more with this.
Zero stars, I'm not impressed, not one little bit! Theres two hours of my life I'll never get back! Dont bother.

I'm glad I ignore the rating number going into a movie, because this movie was great in my eyes. Some of the music was a bit hokey and obviously low budget, but this movie was very unsettling so it didn't matter that much. The movie involves people in extraordinarily small cages that are about to be slaughtered for food. Let me just say that tonight I ate cake for dinner instead of chicken. I actually almost vomited when I saw the chicken on my plate. The thought of eating meat right now repulses me, and I know it's due to watching this movie today. Way to go creators!!

The Farm is a grisly original little independent horror that certainly isn't for the faint of heart.
It tells the story of a young couple who fall foul of a farm that uses humans in place of traditional livestock.
Gory, unsettling and intentionally shocking it certainly left its mark on me despite me generally not appreciating this type of horror. I'm very impressed with what they accomplished, it's quite remarkable what they've done.
Sure I haven't exactly given it a mind blowingly high rating as it is plenty flawed and isn't material that I exactly seek out.
Despite all this I recognise what they've done here, the idea is highly original, the execution is mostly solid and I'd recommend this to anyone seeking something that little bit different. Certainly only people with strong stomachs though.
The Good:
Well scored
Great finale
Some original ideas
The Bad:
Character development could have been better
Idea doesn't feel fully utilized
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
Pet cages are traditionally made of adamantium
Babies just can't catch a break in movies these days

There seems to be a trend for these kind of movies to not have a conclusion.
No retribution, no real end.
Im getting very tired of this bullcrap.
I watched and predicted everything but the end, which I though would be a great end, it failed miserably.
So watch and decide, I wouldn't recommend.

While traveling through the countryside, Nora (Nora Yessayan) and her boyfriend Alec (Alec Gaylord) stop for the night at an off-road bed and breakfast. When they wake up, the find that they are trapped in cages like animals in a farm managed by masked people to supply meat and milk. What will happen to them?
"The Farm" is a stupid and nonsense film with a ridiculous premise. The plot is absurd with no development and seems that was made to shock the audiences only. My vote is two.

It's a disturbing cannibalism fetish movie disguised as a "horror". Somebody was realizing his/her messed up fantasies in here, no question about this. Avoid at all cost, I wish I never saw this "movie".

I was expecting this to be a remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but directed by PETA. That's kinda what it is and it really feels like a feature length PETA demonstration. The only twist for me was that they ripped off Hostel as well (but even that isn't actually a twist, so no need for spoiler warnings).
So imagine a bunch PETA activists desperately trying to remake Hostel - that's pretty much all it is. All the symbolism is so totally obvious and in your face that it seizes to make any sense as a horror movie and even seizes to have any relatable plot at all and becomes a mere campaign for animal rights. The only problem is that it even fails at that, because we already know that hamburgers don't grow on trees, so for the movie to be effective as an animal rights campaign it's not enough to simply shove the facts about how cows are treated down our throat, because most of us already know that and we don't care because we don't really relate to their suffering. Now the movie tries to do exactly that, but fails at exactly that, because in order for us to relate to the suffering on an emotional level, the movie would need a relatable plot and relatable - or even remotely likable characters and it just doesn't have any of that...

Something happened in my mind.
It clicked my heart sunk, I looked down at my roasted parsnips, and felt relief that I was eating those.
Then I thought about all the meat I have eaten.
That's no joke.
I think I should change my diet.
Seriously.
For good reason.
Good film.
I thought it was weird at 1st until the penny dropping moment for me.

I believe the point of the movie was to make the audience see and/or think about how life would be if you were treated the same way people treat animals. That part I appreciated. Besides the concept. Movie was kind or boring. Not a typical horror film which is what I originally expected. Yes it will gross you out. I think that's the point because that's how animals are treated.

The only way to make this movie worse, would be for you to pay a professional heavyweight boxer to punch you full pelt in the spuds every minute, on the minute, for the duration of the run-time...... whilst someone else shovels pig excrement into your eyes. And even then, it's a close run thing as to what's worse.

The idea for 'The Farm' sounded very schlocky and could easily be shoddily and gratuitously executed. Yet there was something oddly interesting about it, it could if done right have been quite creepy and fun. Part of me did want 'The Farm' to work, even if it was not a complete all-round winner and more a moderate at least film.
Neither of those distinctions apply with 'The Farm'. It is even more schlocky than the concept indicated on the most part and was mostly shoddy, dumb and had nothing at any point entertaining, surprising or unnerving. There are worse films in the genre, with similar budgets and overall, again though not that that is saying much when almost every aspect is executed poorly.
Albeit two exceptions. One is some decent camera work at the beginning, which was sort of promising before derailing fast.
The other was the music score which did have the atmosphere missing everywhere else and didn't sound cheesy or misplaced.
Production values however for the rest of the film is very shoddily done, with most of the camera work being very unfocused in how blurred and chaotic it is. There is little cohesion in transitions or the editing which affected story and continuity clarity. The direction is barely existent.
Where 'The Farm' falls down the most is the story and to a lesser extent the script. The script has so many head-scratching howlers and the delivery felt so awkward and jumpy. The story never comes to life, has a very choppy and disjointed story structure that makes things lack coherence and unfinished-feeling and has far too many implausibilities and head-scratching intelligence-insulting moments. There is no tension or suspense whatsoever, nothing to make one jump, one's heart race or hands sweat. Any shock value is gratuitous.
None of the characters are engaging or interesting, and their lack of personality and illogical behaviour makes them annoying and impossible to endear to. The acting is both histrionic and robotic, with no sense of vulnerability or terror.
Overall, very poorly done. 2/10 Bethany Cox
