So far so good! + EDIT May/20/19

I'm a fan of Robin Tunney from The Mentalist days, and glad to see her back.

Directing was spot on for the pilot, and the writing so far has some nice twists building up. The pacing and editing flow nicely. Casting was also spot on, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's acting is very convincing.

So far this looks promising, only time will tell. It's an 8/10 from me.

EDIT May/20/19: Well, just finished the season (and series) finale, and although not as bad as the G.O.T. finale, it was still underwhelming. A lot of melodrama leading to an unsatisfying end. Nevertheless, great directing and acting, just lazy writing towards the end. Had to drop my rating score from an 8/10, to a generous 7/10 - mostly going to the cast and directing.

Strong pilot with twists about a case we think we know

The Fix delivers an interesting pilot. Marcia Clarke obliged, there are some parallels with the case of the victims Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman and it is interesting to watch what the pilot is doing with these. However, the plot get more complicated, some suspects are already presented and twists and interesting criminal behaviours were already present and showed that the rest of the story will be something quite different from what we are expecting. The actors were great and quickly presented but with enough to understand their life and motivations. The pilot offers a solid beginning and I hope the rest of the episodes will deliver quality writings, strong full characters and unexpected but realistically turns. I'm curious about what the rest of the show will deliver to the viewers.

OJ fict

In 2010, LA prosecutor Maya Travis (Robin Tunney) loses a big celebrity case against movie star Sevvy Johnson (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) for the murder of his wife. She retires in the aftermath and eventually settles down with a new life. Eight years later, Sevvy is again the prime suspect in the murder of his girlfriend Jessica Meyer. Maya's old colleague Matthew Collier calls her back to assist in the new investigation. Investigator CJ was her best friend during the original trial. Sevvy rehires his old lawyer Ezra Wolf (Scott Cohen) who is heavily in gambling debt. Collier pushes aside lead prosecutor Loni Kampoor in favor of Travis.

Marcia Clark is one of the creators of the show and it has many parallels to the infamous OJ case. It's a great soapy legal drama but it gets way too overly dramatic at times and pushes beyond believability. Nevertheless, the turns are fun. The show's three leads, Tunney, AAA, and Cohen, provide plenty of juice. Each one create great drama despite going overboard a few times. Its main drawback is its limited run potential. The show would run out of plot once the crime is solved. It's fine for a limited run mini-series. For an ongoing show, it's questionable how long the plot can be dragged out. It got canceled after a ten episode run. I just saw the final episode. The resolution makes no sense. The killer wouldn't act that way and do what happens earlier in the show. The twist is simply bad writing.

doesn't make sense

This shouldn't be a series, it makes perfect sense as a movie but not a series. Don't think may people will watch after first few episode unless it is one small season with an ending

Great twist on a story we think we know

Marsha Clark and her writing partners Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain really took a spin on a story we know so well. They are keeping us guessing. Fantastic cast, great writing, surprising payoffs! Can't watch to see if Savy is guilty as he looks or if he's telling the truth. Will have to keep watching to find out!

I'm torn...

I'm torn about this show. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I enjoy watching it. I'm surprised that it's written by Marcia Clark because I have to believe she was it, at least, a decent attorney. A good writer, I can't say as I don't know it they serialized the book. But it is full of improbabilities, as well as malpractice-level legal high jinx. I'm hoping, and praying, that the ending will not be the obvious one, as they hinted about before the show began airing. If the ending shows that he DID murder the women, it will prove to be a complete waste of time. So, my fingers are crossed that they will pull together a good, and surprising, ending. But in the meantime, it is entertaining trash.

Well done

The first 15 min mediocre. Then it becomes a hell of a ride. Great show.

Not the worst show

Certainly not the best either. Robin Tunney has limited acting skills. If you watch The Craft and watch this show, you'll notice it's the same character with the same facial expressions and mannerisms. She's exactly the same in everything she does.

The story is okay, but I'm only continuing to watch because it's something to do, not because it's compelling. I'm certainly not upset by the fact that it was canceled.

Uneven

Attempting to re-try the OJ Simpson case as fiction is a low blow. But things in real life are turned into fiction all the time. I just don't think they got it right here. After seeing the final episode I thought back to the behaviour of the killer in previous episodes and it just didn't make sense. Same with how the prosecutor figured out who dunnit from reading the journal.

The music was too often over-dramatic. The introduction of minor characters in later episodes was silly. The writing was too often melodramatic. This gets a 5/10 and that's being generous.

Just okay

The lead actress for this series was all wrong. Otherwise the show is okay and entertaining. The rest of the casting is great, not sure how they got the lead wrong.

I'm trying to like this series...

Had high hopes for it, but minus a few moments here and there, it continuously feels over-scripted and over-acted - which is somewhat forgivable... especially if a show isn't meant to be taken too seriously, but it feels like they want to be serious drama and keep falling short. Sometimes it takes me a few episodes for me to connect with characters, but every time I watch this, I want to like it more than I actually do.

An ok drama

I had high hopes for this with Marcia Clark behind the series, especially. But to be honest, I've been a little let down. Not enough to give it up, though! I have been a fan of Robin Tunney's for a long time, so I was excited to see her! However, I think out of everything about the show, she's been the biggest disappointment. This is, by far, the worst acting I've seen from her. She's not believable or likable at all, which, again, is disappointing because I've always loved her. Everyone else does an alright job. Sometimes a little over the top, but I think that's the writing. The story, which is cheesy, but catchy (like a pop song) has kept me into the series, and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds. For me, this is the perfect guilty pleasure to watch when the kids are at school. It's not the greatest show on television, but it's darn fun to watch.

Simple watch

This is very difficult to review, as this could be realy good had it only been made with attention to details. Brilliant plot idea, but it lacks in the execution. It's as fake as Sevvy's "golden Rolex". Things that dont stick and the acting is not very believable (mainly "one-faced-expression" Adam Rayner).

Cringeworthy tv

I watched because it was Robin Tunney from The Mentalist. I now wish I didn't. The story line is not even close to being believable and parts of this show are just pure cringe. Not wasting any more of my time.

Entertaining

I am surprised by all the negative reviews. This is certainly not an Award Winning Series but was nevertheless entertaining. I always like seeing Robin Tunney in virtually everything since Vertical Limit, The Craft and Empire Records through The Mentalist which was also an entertaining but not an Award Winning project. It was unfortunate that the Stalker was disclosed earlier unnecessarily but the guilt of murderer remained in doubt. It was an entertaining mystery that may have been marred slightly by the displayed politics (which has become something overused in many shows but nevertheless seems to be an unfortunate part of today's society. Regardless, I enjoyed the series even with some obvious weaknesses.

Legal eagles.

And so here we are again, looking at another legal drama that we think we already know. But in real life it did'nt turn out the way most of us, justice-seeking audience would like it to be. That's why I would continue to watch the suspense, twists and turns, and surprises that the courtroom battle will reveal. Hoping in the end, justice will prevail. At least.

Really liking this... a lot!

Marcia Clark is quite the writer, hope she'll continue. Enjoying this immensely, fast paced, keeps you guessing, cast is doing a good job and I'm always disappointed when it ends.
