Rob Lowe lamented the state of film and television production in California on a recent episode of his podcast, insisting that state leadership’s handling of the massive domestic production exodus over the last several years has been “criminal.”
“It’s cheaper to bring 100 American people to Ireland than to walk across the lot at Fox, past the sound stages and do it there,” Lowe told former Parks & Recreation co-star Adam Scott, during the episode of the Literally! podcast, about his game show The Floor, explaining why the production is based at Ardmore Studios outside of Dublin.
Incredulous at the revelation that Lowe’s U.S. game show shoots internationally, Scott also remarked that “nothing shoots in Los Angeles” anymore, wondering if Parks & Recreation would be filming in the city if it were made today.
“Do you think if we shot Parks right now, we’d be in Budapest?” he asked,...

Have you ever wondered if the contestants on The Floor have to stand all day or how many episodes they film in a day? Well, now there are answers. Contestants from the past three seasons answered fans’ burning questions on Reddit. The Floor is a game show, hosted by Rob Lowe, where 100 people are experts in a certain category. They face off against other people until there is only one person left who has conquered every piece of the floor. They win $250,000 at the end. A Reddit user wondered if there are any breaks so contestants don’t have to stand for a long time: “Just curious. How long do you have to stand there on The Floor without breaks in the action? I know I wouldn’t be able to do it for long periods of time with my bad knees and back. Heck, I wouldn’t be able...

Rob Lowe blasted California and Los Angeles leadership over how expensive in-state film and TV production has gotten. The actor and “Literally!” podcast host insisted that “everybody” involved in the production exodus to overseas production hubs like Dublin, Ireland (where his own “The Floor” films) should lose their jobs.
“There are no tax credits, so like, all those other places are offering 40% — 40%. And then on top of that, there’s other stuff that they do,” Lowe said in conversation with his former “Parks and Recreation” co-star Adam Scott earlier this month. “And then, that’s not even talking about union stuff. It’s just tax, economics of it all, so it’s criminal what California and L.A. have let happen — it’s criminal. Everybody should be fired.”
The conversation came about after Lowe shared where he films his Fox game show, which prompted the podcast host to give his...

Parks and Recreation is a title that evokes so much nostalgia in many fans because, apart from being one of the funniest sitcoms in the history of television, it also introduced many characters that left a lasting impact. While the show is set in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, filming largely took place in Southern California.

The first season aired in 2009, which was entirely a different period in television programming, and according to alum Adam Scott, who played Ben Wyatt, the show would have been filmed elsewhere if it was done today as the rules before don’t apply anymore.

Following the raging success of Apple TV+’s Severance, actor Adam Scott appeared in Rob Lowe’s podcast, Literally! with Rob Lowe, for a long-overdue Parks and Recreation reunion.

Netflix has moved closer to opening the doors to the chocolate factory after confirming it has greenlit The Golden Ticket, a reality competition series inspired by Willy Wonka.
This comes nine months after Deadline revealed that Eureka Productions, the Fremantle-owned company behind series including The Mole and Fox’s The Floor, won a bake-off for the rights to produce the series.
The Golden Ticket has now begun casting for contestants. It comes after Netflix acquired the rights to the Roald Dahl Company in 2021 and marks the first Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-inspired series.
Per the logline, lucky contestants will have the chance to enter Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, but there’s a catch—only players who find a coveted golden ticket will gain entry to the factory. But a golden ticket doesn’t guarantee a sweet ride once the gates open; only those who can adapt, strategize, and...

Wednesday nights are usually packed with comedy, drama, and much more. Wednesday, March 19 is going to look a little different to normal, and here’s what we have to look forward to across the broadcast networks.
The One Chicago franchise is still taking a break, and this week, there’s the bad news of no reruns, either. ABC is also looking slightly different, but at least we still get the start with a comedy block.
Abbott Elementary, Good Cop/Bad Cop, and more
ABC still has its night of comedy to kick things off. After a new episode of Shifting Gears, we’ll then get a new episode of Abbott Elementary. The teachers will all try to keep the contraband from the golf course hidden, but we all know how well that works out in a comedy series.

There are still a lot of Fox shows sitting on the bubble in 2025, which isn’t surprising for this time of the year. A lot of the renewals and cancellations come just ahead of the May Upfronts.
This is a chance to look at the shows that are airing right now. We can make a prediction on the Fox shows that could be canecled or renewed, using the linear ratings for the most part. Of course, Fox looks at more than just the linear ratings, but this is a strong indication of a show’s future.
So far, four Fox shows have been renewed: Universal Basic Guys, Doc, Murder in a Small Town, and Krapopolis. One show has come to an end, 911: Lone Star. That’s a lot still on the bubble!

Based on the viral “creepypasta” series of internet-based stories from writer Elias Witherow, The Third Parent takes place amidst a Fourth of July celebration when a disturbing figure named Tommy Taffy emerges, disguising himself as a human to infiltrate a suburban neighborhood and impose authoritarian rule over an unsuspecting family.
“Crispin Glover’s Tommy Taffy will be the next great horror villain,” said Bleecker’s Andrew Karpen and Kent Sanderson in a statement. “With Gary’s incredible track record as a producer and David’s strong vision, anchored by Rob Lowe and Roselyn Sanchez’s compelling performances, we believe this...

Fox Entertainment Global is turning back time with a new international format pilot titled Young Again. The show comes from The Masked Singer creator Wonwoo Park and uses tech to de-age senior contestants who then embark on dates as younger versions of themselves.
Nathalie Wogue, SVP, Global Formats, at Fox Entertainment Global shared a sneak peek at the show during a Deadline-moderated session with other formats execs, which took place on the morning of the first-ever Mip London.
Fox is out to market with the format and looking for partners. Notably, the show is not necessarily destined for the Fox broadcast network and could end up getting made in an international market first.
Fox has a first-look development deal with Wonwoo Park, who brought it the idea, Wogue explained.

It was 7 a.m. local time when a Russian missile struck the Starlight Media studio in Kyiv on November 13, 2024, ripping through its roof and leaving a gaping hole just meters above the famous MasterChef logo pinned to the wall.
Thankfully, shooting on the 15th season of MasterChef Ukraine was 10 days out and no one was injured or killed, unlike thousands of other less fortunate civilians whose lives have been taken since Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine three years ago. “I can’t imagine what would have happened 10 days later,” says Viktoriia Vyshniakova, head of the show’s studio, which is owned by StarLight Production.
TV has been a solace for many Ukrainians seeking to escape the grueling reality of life under constant threat of attack. Four seasons of MasterChef have been produced since the bombing began three years ago today, on February 24, 2022. Schedules for the new run had been mapped out,...

Last week’s Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report was all about thrills, as edge-of-your-seat action series dominated the Top 10. This week, as we creep ever closer to Valentine’s Day, comedy takes the lead in the form of “Kinda Pregnant.”
The movie stars Amy Schumer as a woman so jealous of her friends’ pregnancies that she resorts to wearing a fake baby bump. Hijinks follow, carried along by Schumer’s unique gifts for physical comedy.
“Kinda Pregnant” was a huge hit for Netflix, drawing 1.6 million households in its first five days. Younger millennial households were more likely to watch the film than other audiences, perhaps as this cohort begins building families (and experiencing similar jealousy) of their own.
While comedy and the quest for romance top the chart this week, viewers are clearly still chasing thrills. Last week’s chart-topper, “The Night Agent,” is still bringing in viewers as it sits in second this week.

From answering “What is…?” before every question to having to identify multiple items in a category, Jeopardy! player David Madden has found himself on Season 3 of The Floor and fans recognized him right away. He first competed on Jeopardy! in 2005, and had a winning streak of 19 total games, with a total of $432, 400. Madden was defeated by Victoria Groce. He then went on to compete in the 2006 Tournament of Champions, but lost the semifinal match. Madden recently returned for the 2024 Jeopardy! Wednesday nights are packed with great TV shows across the broadcast networks. Take a look at what we can watch tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 12.
This week will see reruns across the One Chicago block, but that’s the only network taking some time off. The breaks are normal for a lot of shows because of the way there are more weeks to fill than new episodes available. We will probably see more breaks later in the season and across other networks soon.
Wild Cards, The Masked Singer, and more
While there are certainly reruns on NBC, the other networks are packed with new episodes. In fact, one network has new seasons of its shows starting up! Yes!
The CW has a new episode of Wild Cards airing tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 12. When there’s the attempted murder of a prize stud horse at a family ranch, Max and Ellis need to track the guy down.

Fox’s popular game show The Floor received quite a nice boost from Super Bowl Lix on Sunday.
The network said Tuesday that the Season 3 premiere, which aired directly after the Philadelphia Eagles finished off the Kansas City Chiefs, drew 14 million viewers, easily a series-high audience. While The Floor has had some promising same-day audiences, it averaged 2.2M same-day viewers per episode in Season 2.
Sunday’s post-game episode also averaged a 3.7 Live+Same Day rating among adults 18-49, making it the highest-rated and most-watched unscripted entertainment series telecast in two years.
Post-Super Bowl programming always benefits from a nice lift, as viewers tend to hang around after the big game. For context, last year CBS debuted Tracker after the Super Bowl to about 18M viewers. The last time Fox hosted the Super Bowl, Next Level Chef‘s Season 2 premiere got the coveted slot and managed 15.5M viewers.

A blowout on the field didn’t deter a record number of viewers from watching Super Bowl Lix.
Sunday’s Fox Sports telecast averaged 127.7 million viewers across all platforms, according to final figures from Nielsen and internal Fox data (that’s up from 126 million in preliminary estimates. That’s the second straight year the Super Bowl has an all-time viewing record in the United States. Sunday’s game is up about about 3 percent compared to last year’s record-setting 123.7 million viewers on CBS (which accounted for 120.25 million of those viewers) and other platforms.
Fox also says the game set a Super Bowl streaming record with 13.6 million viewers on its free streaming platform, Tubi, and 14.5 million including NFL digital platforms, along with 1.87 million viewers for the Spanish-language telecast on Telemundo and Fox Deportes. The previous streaming high was about 11.2 million viewers in 2022.

The big winner of this year’s Super Bowl, once again, was gratuitous pop-culture nostalgia. In addition to a Muppets-themed travel ad, and Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan’s horny condiment commercial, ‘90s stoners Jay and Silent Bob popped up in a Ben Affleck-centric spot for Dunkin’.
Affleck once again donned an orange tracksuit to perform with the “DunKings,” his Dunkin’-branded boy band (although the word “boy” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there). The DunKings now also include Ben’s brother Casey, Bill Belichick, and Jeremy Strong, who we briefly see emerging from a vat of coffee grounds like a more svelte Baron Harkonnen.
Forget about Jay Leno, who does Ben Affleck owe money to?
The extended version of the ad features Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes as Silent Bob and Jay, respectively. They show up at Java Jam, which is some kind of coffee-themed fan convention.
