Beginning with the release of the eponymous film in 2014, the series tells the story of a retired assassin who is pressed back into action after criminals destroy his newfound happy life. Though the simple revenge plot has been done a million times before, it was director Chad Stahelski's blend of martial arts and gunplay that made the action sequences jump off the screen.

CBS has ordered Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, an unscripted series, as part of its 2025/26 season.

Coben will host the hour-long series. The network said that he will “guide audiences through gripping tales of murder, high-profile crimes and life-altering surprises, each meticulously unraveled to reveal hidden truths, deceptions and lies”.

Each episode will feature exclusive interviews and never-before-seen archival materials surrounding certain cases.

Final Twist is produced by Final Twist Productions, All Rise Films, Triage Entertainment and See It Now Studios. Jeff Zimbalist will serve as showrunner and will exec produce alongside Harlan Coben, Ben Coben, Stu Schreiberg, Susan Zirinsky, Terence Wrong and Jess Philipps.

The French Directors’ Guild (Srf) will fete U.S. director Todd Haynes with its honorary Carrosse d’Or (Golden Carriage) award at the upcoming edition of its Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.

Haynes will receive the prize at the opening ceremony of the parallel section, running alongside the main Cannes Film Festival from May 14 to 22.

The honor follows Haynes’ recent stint as president of the jury at the Berlinale in February.

The Srf highlighted Haynes place heart at the American counterculture and his legacy of challenging social, sexual or artistic norms.

“From Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story to Safe, Velvet Goldmine, Carol and May December, your films have been inhabited by a great faith in cinema’s experimental and narrative possibilities,” the Srf board wrote in a letter explaining their motivation for the award.

“Your genius is to move and mesmerize us in a single move, combining Formal virtuoso with infinite empathy and tenderness.

In a bid to grab the attention of younger audiences, the 13th Panama International Film Festival (Iff Panama) has included a mélange of comedies, thrillers, animation and genre pics amid the docs, dramas and arthouse fare in its program.

American director Todd Haynes will be honored by his French peers at this year’s Cannes film festival, receiving the lifetime achievement Carrosse d’Or award from the French Film Directors’ Guild.

The queer cinema pioneer, whose filmography includes Carol, Far From Heaven, Velvet Goldmine, I’m Not There and May December, will receive the award on May 14 at the opening ceremony for Directors’ Fortnight, the Cannes festival sidebar organized by the guild.

Netflix will be launching its latest Harlan Coben series with an especially buzzy name. “Severance” star Britt Lower has been added to the cast of “I Will Find You” along with Milo Ventimiglia, Logan Browning and Erin Richards.

Though she’s best known for playing Helly on the Apple TV+ original, Lower has also starred in “Man Seeking Woman” and “Unforgettable.” As for Ventimiglia, he’s known for his Emmy-nominated role as Jack Pearson on “This Is Us” as well as for “Gilmore Girls,” “Heroes” and “Creed II.” As for Browning and Richards, audiences will recognize them for their roles in “Dear White People” and “Gotham,” respectively. But when the bestseller author works with three long-time friends and creative collaborators to move their setting from the U.S. to the U.K. and adapt his stories for the screen, they are looking to make them into an entirely different experience altogether. In an exclusive interview with Variety, bestselling author Harlan Coben sat down alongside director-showrunner Miguel Cohan (“No Return”) to drill down on the first Latin American Netflix adaptation of one of his multiple novels, “Caught,” (“Atrapados”).

Speaking on Zoom from Buenos Aires, Coben was full of praise for the work Cohan and his team had done on the mini-series adaptation for Netflix, set to debut worldwide on March 26. “What I love about this project is the idea of taking a novel by an American author and blending it with Argentine sensibilities – especially their incredible talent and unique settings,” he said.

He took a hands-off approach to the re-version, trusting them implicitly on their ability to adapt his work to an Argentine backdrop.

We've known for a while that Caught (also known as Atrapados) would be the next of Coben's shows coming to Netflix, thanks to updates from the mystery author himself. Caught premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, March 26, according to Coben, who announced the release date on Twitter/X. That's where Coben shares a ton of updates about his projects, so give him a follow if you want to stay up to date.

James Nesbitt, who also starred in Missing You and Stay Close, two of the three most recent of Coben's Netflix shows, will star in Run Away. Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver will join Nesbitt, according to Netflix.

In the series, Nesbitt stars as Simon Greene, a father "whose perfect life starts to crumble after his daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange), well, runs away," according to Netflix. The story is based on Coben's 2019 book of the same name, so if you want to find out what happens, that's a good place to start!

Netflix actually confirmed the full cast of Run Away, along with who the cast members will be playing.

For the first time in a long time, Richard Armitage will not be starring in the next Harlan Coben Netflix show.

Netflix just revealed the cast of Run Away, the next of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows. While there are a few who have starred in other Harlan Coben Netflix shows, including James Nesbitt, in the cast, it's notably missing a key player from many of those shows: Armitage.

According to Netflix, Armitage will not be in Run Away. Instead, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, and Ruth Jones will star in the upcoming thriller based on Coben's book of the same name.

Regarding Armitage's absence in Run Away, Coben told Netflix: “I'm sure we'll work together again in the future.”

Harlan Coben’s next Netflix series “Run Away” has announced its sprawling cast, including James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver.

It’s another story with Coben’s trademark twists and turns, mystery, and suspense as the story unravels over five episodes. Detective Kat Donovan, played by Rosalind Eleazar, faces up to a series of mysterious and troubling events that become connected. That includes the shooting of her father some years before.
