It is a good movie, but a very slow burn. The actors are okay for their part. I couldn't get over the paint used on the cop's beard... it sparkles in the light from the metals in the paint lol. Horrible makeup, except on the guy's butt.... they did a good job with that. The score is beautiful... it makes the slow tense moments actually bearable, otherwise it would be too slow to handle. I think the filmmakers needed to pad some run time with some slow motion. Which is odd because they had plenty to work with for extra scenes: the wife's "friends" that she hung out with when the tv controller disappeared, the relationship between the main character and his boss, more character development with the cop, and even an explanation of who is the black guy that appears at the end of the movie with the woman at the hospital.
Overall this was a great concept with an okay execution. Many may judge this movie on the fact that it is a movie about a butt pirate, but there is some value in this movie as a look at obsessive compulsive behavior of a sociopathic killer.
I give it 6/10, but it would have been a 5/10 if it wasn't for the score.
I'm sure you've read the synopsis by now, so I don't have to explain the movie here. However, others called it original, where as I call it the typical old plot of a killer who can't stop, like it's an addiction, and tries to keep it hidden from everyone else in his life. We've all seen that right? Yeah, just take that formula and oddly make the way the killer does his victims in is by sticking them up his butt!
Comedy? The premise and reading of the story is funny, but there are no jokes in the movie. After the first ten minutes, the joke has worn off and the movie plays it straight the whole time. I wouldn't call it a comedy or dark comedy outside of anything else. There's no laugh moments.
Thriller? No, not really. Its actually rather boring for the most part, the lead actor is even more stiff than Adam Driver if you can believe it!
Romance? Don't make me laugh.
Original? Hardly. You wouldn't call a movie that rips off The Wizard of Oz only to make the main character accidentky urinates on the Wicked Witch as an "original new concept"
The acting on the most part is ok, apart from the co-lead (Mr butt boy himself) who has had a charisma bypass. Even tho it can be slow and boring, it's watchable, but it's not something you'd be in a hurry to watch again, if ever. Nor is it a film you cant wait to rush out and highly recommend to everyone. Therfor, it's not a masterpiece or must see, nor is it modern classic or a movie surely to have a cult following as these fake reviews have stated. It's watchable once from start to finish, but then again, if you never see it, you haven't missed anything.
And just incase anyone might get the idea this might be something along the lines of The Greasy Strangler (2016)... think again. Tootie Fruity Disco Cutey this film is not even in the same ballpark of... Nor is it intended to be. Like I said, it's not a comedy... Just a humorous twist that's better in words rather than watching this movie that takes itself seriously with a ridiculous way to make someone go missing.
Now don't get me wrong the idea/concept behind the film is absurd and ridiculous yet somehow they managed to pull it off.
The deeper meaning/ideology inside is that of addiction and the knock on affect of its destructive nature yet at the same time it's not entirely a metaphor.
The narrative and pacing suck you in, as well as the excellent cinamotgraphy, everything is familiar in a serious 90s cop movie kind of way as well as other 90s classics such as Clerks Pulp Fiction and Seven.
Even the main role plays a homage to De Niro without it coming off as a parody. The acting overall was good with a only a few weaker performances from very minor characters who have little screen time but nothing to make the Stomach churn.
Even when things get even more absurd it only makes you want to watch more to find out how it all comes out at the end. At the same time the entire thing is played as deadly serious as a noir classic with only a few subtle hints at humour.
I don't know which crazy mind this came from but bravo to the creators for having the balls to put it out there and do it with such brilliance. Even with the madness that I just witnessed I still managed to come away with a deeper meaning while at the same time a wry smile on my face.
If this does not become a cult classic I'll be surprised, its probably too much to ' stomach ' for many ( although not as bad as many other films ), they don't shove something in your face just for shock value either, everything is there for a reason to help things make sense out of the nonsensical.
This is what film making is about, whatever you are making, make it good and use all the tools at your disposal to engage and envelope the audience.
Bravo to all involved, it must have been difficult given the subject somehow you managed to avoid making a turd.....
8/10 can't fault it
But it's so very very slow, and padded, I was praying for death. It just goes on, and on, and on....
So, you know, props for how beautifully made it is, and the fact that it was made at all. But Lordy it was a long slog.

- Quotes
Chief Lazarra: So you're asking me to go off this theory you got about a white married male, who happens to be a father, living in the suburbs of critica county, who also happens to be your AA sponsor, which I might add, has been secretly running around, cramming objects, animals, and children up his asshole. Then he somehow digest them and he does this in sprees almost in a serial killer fashion. Is that about it?
Detective Russel Fox: Uh huh. Well I'm not entirely sure about the whole uh, digestive system part, but yeah. And it seems the more objects this guy is putting up his ass, uhh... the stronger he's getting. That's my theory, anyway.
