The Gardener (Le Jardinier), not to be confused with the Gary Daniels/Robert Bronzi film, reunites Jean-Claude Van Damme and David Charhon who directed him in The Last Mercenary. And like that film, it’s an action comedy, but with the comedy dialed up a bit higher, and the action a bit more on the brutal side.
This time out, The Muscles From Brussels plays Leo, a man who simply wants to tend to plants on the large estate owned by Serge Shuster Special Adviser to the President of France. Nobody seems quite sure how he ended up with the position, and they think he’s a bit odd, but he does a good job so they’ve let him stay on.

A couple of months ago, Lionsgate released a new version of The Crow onto the big screen, and while we know what JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray thinks of the movie – you can read his review of the film at This Link and see how he thinks it compares to other Crow movies Here – we haven’t heard how Arrow in the Head founder John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek feel about this new Crow. With the new episode of their new show Lance and Arrow at the Movies, Lance and The Arrow share their thoughts on the film. Is The Crow 2024 actually good, or is it the horrible mess most people seemed to think it was going to be? To find out, check out the video embedded above!

Alex Proyas, of the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it Here), was never happy with the idea that Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders was going to be telling a new version of the story of The Crow with his recently released reboot – and Proyas never kept his feelings about the project to himself, taking every opportunity to mock and bash it on social media. The Crow reboot made its way out into the world last weekend and is proving to be both a critical failure and a box office bomb, which is just giving Proyas more opportunities to have fun at the movie’s expense on social media.
In the build-up to the reboot’s release, Proyas shared a screen shot of The Guardian’s review, which called the film “unfathomably awful.” Later, he commented, “Wow. The reviews are brutal.” And when the box office numbers came in,...

We’ve been talking about it for a long time, but now it’s finally out there in the world. Lionsgate has released a new version of The Crow onto the big screen. You know what we thought about it; you can read our 6/10 review of the film at This Link, or you can watch the video embedded above. Now we want to know, what did you think about the new version of The Crow? You can let us know by leaving a comment below.
We had previously been referring to this project as a remake, but Lionsgate recently let it be known that this is not to be called a remake, but rather a new adaptation of the source material, the comic book series created by James O’Barr. Lionsgate will be bringing a new version of The Crow to theatres on August 23rd – and while we had previously been referring to this project as a remake, Lionsgate recently let it be known that this is not to be called a remake, but rather a new adaptation of the source material, the comic book series created by James O’Barr. You can check it out in the embed above.

The Crow: Brandon Lee’s stand-in Chad Stahelski supports the casting of Bill Skarsgard in the remake
Stuntman Chad Stahelski was close friends with actor Brandon Lee… and when Lee was killed in a tragic accident on the set of the 1994 version of The Crow, director Alex Proyas chose Stahelski to be Lee’s stand-in for the filming of scenes that still needed to be filmed involving Lee’s character Eric Draven. Lee’s face was then placed over Stahelski’s in post-production. Stahelski has gone on to become a director, taking the helm of each film in the John Wick franchise to date… and since he worked with Bill Skarsgard on John Wick: Chapter 4, it’s no surprise to hear that he supports the casting of Skarsgard in The Crow remake, which is set to reach theatres on August 23rd.
Commenting on Skarsgard’s performance in John Wick: Chapter 4, Stahelski told Esquire, “I think he’s my best villain ever.” As for his casting in The Crow,...

Lionsgate may have pushed the release date of The Crow remake back from June 7th to August 23rd yesterday, but they still promoted the film during their panel at CinemaCon today, showing attendees a new trailer. We don’t know when that trailer is going to be making its way online, but JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was in attendance and reports that the new trailer reveals more about the film’s story.
Writing from the panel, Lance said attendees were told this version of The Crow is “a complete re-imagining that is not meant to compete with the original. The Lionsgate rep made mention how the original graphic novel is different than the beloved movie and made a point that the trailer was divisive, but they want to tell this story for a new generation.” As for what was shown in the new trailer, Lance writes, “An afterlife way-station...

Yesterday, we saw the first images of what Bill Skarsgard of the It films is going to look like as goth rocker Eric Draven in director Rupert Sanders’ (Snow White and the Huntsman) remake of the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it Here). There weren’t a lot of positive reactions, with many fans comparing Skarsgard’s look – which Sanders said was a mixture of his own look in the ’90s, “when we were squat-raving in London,” with modern influences like Post Malone and Lil Peep – to Jared Leto’s poorly-received version of The Joker in Suicide Squad. One person who took to social media to blast the look of the new Eric Draven was Alex Proyas, who directed the ’94 version of The Crow.
Sharing one of the images, Proyas said, “Eric Draven’s having a bad hair day. Next reboot thanks.” In the comments, he continued to mock the look:...

After spending more than a decade in development hell, a remake of The Crow (watch it Here) has made its way through production and is set to receive a theatrical release, courtesy of Lionsgate, on June 7th. With that date just three months away, a trio of first look images have arrived online to show us what It star Bill Skarsgard and singer FKA twigs look like as the new versions of goth rocker Eric Draven and the love of his life, Shelly. These images originally showed up on Vanity Fair and can now be seen at the bottom of this article.
The film has the following synopsis: Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgard) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers,...

Another remake of classic – make that two classics – is headed to Netflix, as the streaming giant has just released the teaser for The Wages of Fear, first made in 1953 and later most notably remade by William Friedkin with 1977’s Sorcerer.
In the trailer, we see an explosion and the chaos of the aftermath, with a voice saying, “There is a gas pocket feeding the flames. To put it out, we need to blow it up.” This sets up the plot of The Wages of Fear, which finds a team driving to the location in trucks filled with nitro…and they’re on a timeline of just 24 hours.
Helmed by action director Julien Leclercq, The Wages of Fear looks to bring a lot more of his trademark action to the screen than its predecessors. Henri-Georges Clouzot’s original The Wages of Fear (Le Salaire de la peur) is, as far as I’m concerned,...

When looking back at some of the other games that were ahead of their time, I started to realize that there was a logical cut-off point for this particular topic. After all, it’s kind of hard for a game to be ahead of its time when we haven’t really had enough time to properly analyze its potentially once-overlooked or underappreciated impact. That makes it difficult to look at games released for slightly more modern consoles like the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 2 in the same context.
Then I realized that the PS2 was released nearly 25 years ago. Though that revelation made me briefly confront my mortality, it also shined a light on some of the ways we sometimes fail to appreciate how much of a post-PS2 world we live in. The PlayStation 2 is the best-selling video game console ever, and many of its best games enjoyed similar levels of success.

If the PlayStation 2’s library of games wasn’t the greatest ever assembled for a single console, it was certainly one of the most diverse. While many of the PS2’s best games have thankfully gone on to enjoy numerous sequels, remakes, and/or remasters, some of the projects that helped make the PS2’s library as diverse as it was have since been forgotten by too many people.
While it’s foolish to think that every PS2 game that was at least interesting enough to deserve a sequel would eventually get one, it’s sometimes tough to look at the PS2’s library and not wonder what could have been. At a time of yearly sequels and live-service games, the PS2’s collection of truly unique titles looks better than ever. Call it nostalgia or wishful thinking, but it’s just a bit too easy to dream of what...

Fresh off another win at Finland’s Jussi Awards, this time for his short film “The Bouncer,” Aleksi Salmenperä is already in post-production with his upcoming feature “Bubble,” about to be presented at Helsinki International Film Festival’s industry event Finnish Film Affair in its Fiction in Progress section.
“I was sort of embarrassed by this win,” he jokes. The comedy was shot six years ago and originally intended as a part of an episodic film. At previous Jussi Awards, Salmenperä was named best director for “Distractions” in 2016, and drama “Void” won best director and best film in 2019. “Bubble,” set to premiere in the spring of next year, is bound to surprise some of his fans, however, with Salmenperä calling it “the cosiest film” he has ever made.

"An eye for an eye." Netflix has debuted the first official trailer for a French crime thriller titled Earth and Blood, also known as La terre et le sang from its original French title. This is the latest film from director Julien Leclercq, it takes place in the heart of the mountains where a man and his daughter, Said and Sarah, run a sawmill family business hiring mostly ex-cons and young offenders, one of whom hid some drugs in the factory. Things get rough when the gang shows up for their missing drugs. Starring Sami Bouajila and Samy Seghir, with Carole Weyers, Eriq Ebouaney, Sofia Lesaffre, and Eric Kabongo. This is an intense trailer! That music definitely kicks things into high gear when it really gets going. A bit overkill? The story itself seems mostly generic but otherwise this looks good. "I don't want him having this kind of life." Lionsgate has debuted the first official trailer for a gritty crime thriller titled We Die Young, the latest film starring Belgian badass Jean-Claude Van Damme (he's also in The Bouncer from last year). In addition to Jcvd, We Die Young also stars Elijah Rodriguez, Joana Metrass, Jacob Scipio, Uriel Emil, Nicholas Sean Johnny, Joseph Long, and David Castañeda. Jean-Claude Van Damme has got a new action-thriller coming out called The Bouncer, and today we have trailer to share with you for it.
Van Damme takes on the role of a seasoned nightclub bouncer named Lukas, “who's taken punches, literally and figuratively, struggles to raise his 8 year old daughter. One day, Lukas loses control during an altercation with a client and ends up in jail, while his daughter gets placed under the care of social services. But things take an unexpected turn when Interpol recruits Lukas to bring down a Dutch ringleader operating from Belgium in exchange for his daughter's custody.”
These kinds of movies aren’t always top-quality, but most of the time I find them enjoyable. This one looks like it could be decent. I just still enjoy watching Van Damme kick some ass.
The Bouncer was directed by French filmmaker Julien Leclercq and will be released on January 11th.

"If something happens to my daughter, I'll kill you." Don't mess with dad. Yes, he's still making movies!! Jcvd is back in another action movie, this one is titled The Bouncer, also known as Lukas originally for its release in France. Belgian superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme plays Lukas, a nightclub bouncer in his fifties who's taken punches, literally and figuratively, and struggles to raise his 8-year-old daughter. When he's arrested, the only way to get his daughter back is to work with Interpol to bring down a Dutch crime kingpin operating from Belgium. Also starring Sveva Alviti, Sami Bouajila, Sam Louwyck, Kaaris, Kevin Janssens, Alice Verset, & Dimitri Thivaios. This actually looks good. I dig how brooding and exhausted Jcvd seems, yet he's still always ready to fight. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Julien Leclercq's The Bouncer, direct from YouTube: And here's a different French version of the trailer for The Bouncer aka Lukas, also on...

I'm loving the fact that in addition to his TV series, Jean-Claude Van Damme hasn't slowed down on the movie roles. One of the many projects he has coming this year is the French thriller The Bouncer.
Directed by Julien Leclercq, the movie stars Van Damme as Lukas, an aging bouncer struggling to raise his pre-teen daughter. When an altercation with a client goes horribly wrong, Lukas is thrown in jail and his daughter is taken into custody by the state and to get her back, he has to work with Interpol to bring down a high-level criminal operating in Belgium.
I've yet to see any of Leclercq's other films but judging by their trailers and subject matter, this material isn't exactly new to him and the previews for The Bouncer look really promising. It's...

Jvcd's Jean-Claude Van Johnson show may have been canceled after one season, but that has not deterred the actor and martial arts master. Van Damme took to social media to announce that Lionheart 2 is happening and that production begins later this year. This is huge news for fans of Van Damme, including President Donald Trump who loves the work of the martial artist. Jean-Claude Van Damme recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of Bloodsport, which Trump called his favorite movie back in 1997 and now he's reviving another one of his most iconic roles with the sequel to Lionheart.
In a now deleted Instagram post, Jean-Claude Van Damme announced that Lionheart 2 is in the works and that filming is going to start in late 2018. It isn't clear why he deleted the post since the Rodin Entertainment website still has the poster up as well as a brief synopsis. In addition, the site...
