Break free

No pun intended - actually being free is not just of .. stuff inside you (let it out), but also when it comes to relationships ... the stuck part of the title is meant to have more than one meaning too then. We start with a man and a woman making love to each other ... experimenting in bed. We do not see anything explicit, but a toy is introduced ... just to start a "where is this going?" discussion that is completely misplaced ... read the room some might say.

Or you know just enjoy yourself and discuss important stuff later. But we wouldn't have a movie - and conflict(s), if people would behave rational ... would we now? Exactly. The actors are really good and the dialog works fine ... it might lose a bit of its drive after the bed scene ... but it's still well done.

Its light humour buys it some goodwill in the latter stages - but not enough

The film opens with an awkward moment of realisation between a woman hoping for more, and a man just looking for some fun. This awkward realisation is made worse due to the loss of a sex toy in one of the worst places for it to be lost, triggering a visit to the ER, where the two have time to talk while awaiting extraction.

The humorous and irreverent plot device at the core of this film is probably what will draw the viewer into it because its title and cheeky tone early on suggest something that it is not. It is not long into the hospital visit that the film clearly moves into what it is - which is a much more earnest and talky film, which spells too much out, says too much with words and not with other methods, and generally is a bit too saccharine for its own good. The two characters overtalk their feelings, often speaking in things approaching platitudes, and it comes over quite insincere. The sexual humour of the situation sort of helps it a bit, but it can't carry it for long and it is well before the end when the film feels claggy and obvious in what it is doing.

The title, hook, and opening scene all make you hope for more, but this tails off badly by the end.

The positive ending I really enjoyed

And this quote "The pain of losing someone is the price of having them..." I really liked.

beautiful

Maybe, it is not the most inspired word. But it is just the right suggestion for define the story, the dialogue, the performances and the atmosphere. Sex partners, an incident, a long dialogue and the way to home. Nothing new but well crafted and inspired use of classic ingredients for define the fragility of characters, their expectation and to propose a nice portrait of a relashion discovered in realistic perspective.

Funny

Pretty funny and intentionally awkward. I like the acting and the length works well with the simple story. I think the Production value was good. Not for everyone though as it's pretty dialogue heavy .
