Sammy (Michael Vlamis) brings Emma (Chloe Bennet) home from the bar and are having random hookup on the couch. They are interrupted by his brother Andrew (Scott Michael Foster) and her half-sister Olivia (Ally Maki) who are a married couple. They didn't know their connection before hooking up. It's the brothers' parents' house. They have the same upcoming birthday, 5 years apart. The two pairs of siblings have different outlooks.
I know three of these actors. Otherwise, this is not worth the time. It starts off well with a fun opening but it quickly grinds to a halt. These are not compelling characters or much of a rooting interest. They bicker and argue and I don't care. These are not real people. They are just one dimensional figures. It tries to be funny but it's not. I don't get the medics. Are they funny? This is nothing. I haven't seen this filmmaker's previous works and unlikely to see his future works.

How could you people give this bad reviews? In a world filled with beige romcoms, with the SAME gags over and over it was refreshing to see a movie more dialog driven. It could have been a play. It was amusing, quick witted, and haven't seen it a million times. The actors were GREAT, Sammy character was very believable and never once did I feel he was acting. Chloe Bennett as always is ethereal to watch...can't take your eyes off her. The others were all very good as well, and there was decent chemistry between them all. If you think this was bad, perhaps you should go watch a lifetime movie instead. Unless you're brain dead, you'll find this enjoyable. Ssssssssss.
I couldn't wait to see Five Years Apart with Michael Vlamis. I expected him to a uninhibited and unapologetic and he did not disappoint, every inch of him that is!! But yet still that caring nature shines through! He paired well with Chloe Bennett and I love his quick comeback lines he always seems to have in everything. So its not a multi-billion dollar mega movie, but it a kinda RomCom make you laughs, feel good type movie that will make you wish you were floating around a pool on a floatie. So yes it has some Vlamism in it too
The saving grace of this film is that it is only an hour and a quarter long.
It's billed on Amazon as a comedy, but I must have missed the comedic bits.
The premise is Ok, but there are a million other films about sibling rivalries - this brings nothing to the table.
The sad things is that the cast are actually quite good, but the subject matter is boring. The Aussie character, Mark is just awful. I think he was probably supposed to be the comedy part of the film, but I don't think there was anything remotely funny going on.
Save yourself 77 minutes and don't bother watching. You'll thank me later.

Nothing happens. It's not funny. The 10/10 rating must be from the 8 people in the movie! Only finished it because we paid for it! What the heck?????
