Exclusive: It’s officially been one year of Live with Kelly and Mark.

“I have to say it’s probably the fastest year of my life,” Consuelos told Deadline ahead of his April 17 anniversary of becoming the full time co-host to his wife, Kelly Ripa.

If someone had told Consuelos and Ripa one year ago they’d consider themselves a co-hosting match made in heaven, they likely wouldn’t have believed it. In fact, Ripa admits she was “staunchly against” the idea of having her husband by her side each morning on air.

“I just felt like we’re not that interesting, and we’re not a very controversial couple. We don’t really get up to much. I always liken us to watching paint dry,” she said.

But, eventually, she was convinced. After all, Consuelos had already guest co-hosted with her about 100 times over the years, and it had always worked well.

Ben Stiller, Mark Hamill and more stars are jumping to Martin Short’s defense after an op-ed labeled the Emmy award winner “exhausting, sweaty and desperately unfunny.”

The Slate op-ed, titled “Why We Keep Putting Up With Martin Short,” critiqued Short’s comedic career, describing his roles as “over-the-top characters” that are “unbelievably annoying.”

After the article was published on Friday, many of Short’s colleagues took to social media to publicly praise the “Only Murders in the Building” actor. Fellow “Saturday Night Live” alum Ben Stiller wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Martin Short is a comedic genius. End o story.”

In director Janus Metz’s “All the Old Knives,” Chris Pine plays a CIA agent who reconnects with a former colleague and lover (Thandiwe Newton) to find out what she knows about a terrorist hijacking of plane that occurred eight years prior.

The Amazon drama, based on Olen Steinhauer’s 2015 novel of the same name, is told through flashbacks as the two have dinner together at a gorgeous restaurant in Carmel-by-the Sea, Calif. I caught up with Pine, who is sporting a bushy salt-and-pepper beard these days, on Wednesday night at the film’s premiere at the London West Hollywood hotel.

Just a couple of weeks before Wonder Woman 1984 hits screens, Chris Pine has found his next big movie. Deadline’s revealed that the Star Trek actor’s signed up to lead Paramount’s Dungeons & Dragons adaptation. Based on the bestselling game, the studio is partnering up with Hasbro and eOne for the film, which is directed by Game Night duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daly.

Goldstein and Daly, who also penned the script for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, were behind the aforementioned 2018 dark comedy and they’ll be bringing a similar sensibility to this D&d movie, as it’s said to take “a subversive approach” to the game. The filmmaking pair will be directing their own screenplay, which was based on an earlier draft from Michael Gilio. Jeremy Latcham, meanwhile, is on board to produce.

Dungeons & Dragons will feature an ensemble cast, though only Pine has been announced as of yet.

Exclusive: In a competitive situation, Greg Silverman and Jon Berg of Stampede Ventures have optioned the rights to screenwriter Ward Parry’s spec script, Mr. Croup.

Matthew George’s Savvy Media Holdings, whose credits include Wind River and A Private War, will produce the film alongside former Warner Bros execs Berg and Silverman.

Mr. Croup is described to us an original spy-thriller with franchise potential, inspired by the likes of James Bond and Liam Neeson’s Taken character Bryan Mills. The script follows a mysterious recluse on a desolate island who finds himself in the company of a 10-year-old girl after her boat capsizes offshore and he is called to save her. With her in his possession, he must come out of hiding and face his past as a secret agent for the British government.

The aim is for the film to go into production in 2021.

Although many longtime Star Trek fans had issues with J.J. Abrams’ Kelvin Timeline films, their cast members have been celebrated nearly unanimously for their ability to emulate the original series’ actors while performing brilliantly in their own right. William Shatner seems to be in agreement, too, as the original Star Trek star recently gave his approval for his successor Chris Pine to portray his real-life self in a future biopic.

Jonathan Berg has joined Greg Silverman’s Stampede Ventures as president of production, the company announced on Friday.

Berg will oversee the day-to-day development and production of the company’s film slate.

“We are so thrilled to welcome Jon to Stampede Ventures. The Aew number is down about 112,000 viewers from last week, which has to be a huge concern for Tony Khan and his crew, which debuted in October with more than 1 million viewers on TNT.

The decline for Aew comes at the same time the company is becoming more relaxed on what many believed to be their core beliefs. Rules and a sports-like presentation were big selling points for Aew before it debuted, and while the company does keep "records" of wins and losses, they're also over-booking "hardcore" matches and some well-established wrestling rules — like tag teams tagging their partners — are sometimes ignored.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, the director of “The Current War” and “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” is set to direct Chris Pine as legendary newsman Walter Cronkite in the film “Newsflash,” the film’s production company Stampede announced Thursday.

“Newsflash” takes place on Nov. 22, 1963, the day of the John F. Kennedy assassination, and how Cronkite put everything on the line to get the story right on a fateful day when a president was killed, a frightened nation wept and television came of age. The film charts how Cronkite went from being a news anchor to being seen as “the most trusted man in America.”

Production on “Newsflash” will begin on Feb. 2020 in New York City, with Gomez-Rejon set to direct the film from a script featured on the Black List by Ben Jacoby.

Wesley Snipes has joined Eddie Murphy on the cast of the sequel to the 1988 classic ‘Coming To America’.

Snipes is set to play General Izzi, who rules a neighbouring country to Zamunda and is a new character for the story. Also joining the cast are Leslie Jones, whose role is being kept under wraps, Kiki Layne who will play Akeem’s daughter and rapper Rick Ross. Original cast members James Earl Jones and Paul Bates will be returning. Jones, of course, will reprise his role as Akeem’s father, King Jaffe Joffer, with Bates as royal servant Oha.

The sequel is set 30 years after the original which saw Murphy as Prince Akeem and his trusted sidekick, Arsenio Hall’s Semmi descend on Queens, New York from Zamunda in order to “sow his wild oats” before committing to an arranged marriage. He subsequently falls in love with the owner of McDowells fast food joint’s daughter.

Star Trek actor Chris Pine will next play one of the most well-known real-life TV anchors of all time, as the actor will portray Walter Cronkite in upcoming biopic Newsflash. Previously, Seth Rogen was attached to play the role when David Gordon Green was on board to direct. However, after Green left the project to helm last year's Halloween sequel, Rogen would ultimately depart as well.

Rogen and Gordon-Levitt will join a cast of Eddie Redmayne who plays play, anti-war activist, Tom Hayden, Sascha Baron Cohen as Youth International Party co-founder Abbie Hoffman, Jonathan Majors as Bobby Seale, Alex Sharp as activist, Rennie Davis. Seth Rogen and Michael Keaton are set to team up on the comedy biopic ‘King of the Jungle’ based on the life of anti-virus tech magnate John McAfee.

The feature is based on Joshua Davis Wired magazine article ‘John McAfee’s Last Stand and will see Keaton will play McAfee, creator of the McAfee Antivirus software. McAfee cashed in his fortune, left civilization, and moved to the jungle in Belize, where he set up a compound of guns, sex, and madness.

Rogen will play the role of Wired magazine investigator Ari Furman, who accepts what he thinks is a run-of-the-mill assignment to interview McAfee, but once he arrives in Belize, he finds himself pulled into McAfee’s escalating paranoia, slippery reality, and murder.

Netflix will make a CG-animated feature film inspired by the childhood of Haitian singer and The Fugees co-founder Wyclef Jean. Greg Silverman’s upstart production company Stampede is partnering with the three-time Grammy Award-winning musician to produce the film. Script will be written by Justin Marks, whose credits include The Jungle Book, its sequel, and Top Gun: Maverick. It will be informed by Jean’s childhood in Haiti, where he lived until his family emigrated to Brooklyn at age 9, and then to New Jersey where he began his musical path.

Netflix has acquired movie rights Michael Lewis’ real-life financial drama “Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt” — a project that had been in development at Sony Pictures in 2014.

Ben Jacoby is adapting the book, which was published in 2014. No producer or director is attached yet.

Lewis alleged in the book that the stock market is “rigged” by high-frequency traders being able to “front run” orders ahead of other traders. “Flash Boys” also focuses on the creation of Iex, the Investors Exchange, aimed at eliminating the advantage of high-frequency trading.

Jacoby’s script “Newsflash” made the Black List and is centered on CBS’ coverage of the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Seth Rogen is attached to play Walter Cronkite with David Gordon Green directing.

The nonfiction bestseller is about a group of Wall Street guys who grew frustrated by a loophole that gave traders the opportunity to game the stock market. They banded together to reform the financial markets by creating an exchange that rendered impotent the act of high-frequency trading, a growing form of trading that gave insiders an advantage. Lewis wrote The Big Short, and Flash Boys was viewed as the antithesis of the practices that created the 2008 financial crisis. The Flash Boys walked away from huge-money jobs to use their expertise to investigate big banks, stock exchanges and high-frequency trading firms. They peeled back the layers to bare why many feel that Wall Street is such a rigged game.
