“Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie” is rounding out its cast with all stars. Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Bill Nye and Meredith MacNeill have been added to the third feature film alongside franchise veteran Ron Pardo.
The movie will release theatrically on July 31, 2026, and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures worldwide, excluding Canada where Elevation Pictures distributes.
This isn’t the first time these stars have appeared in children’s projects. Jamil, who is likely best known for her work on “The Good Place,” appeared in “Princess Power” and “Big City Greens.” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews has appeared in “Craig of the Creek,” and Hilton has starred in “Rainbow High.” As for Snoop Dogg, in addition to appearing in “The Garfield Movie,” the rapper is behind “Doggyland,” a YouTube animated series that puts a hip-hop spin on classic nursery rhymes. The idea of a Barney movie being released by A24, produced by Academy Award-winning actor DanielKaluuya, and written by and starring Emmy-winning actress Ayo Edebiri sounds like a joke in an SNL sketch. However, it most certainly is real. In fact, A24's Barney might be one of the most fascinating IP adaptations since Barbie. The Barney movie was first announced in 2019 but now appears to be gaining some real traction as Kaluuya is putting a strong creative team together for the live-action reboot.
Variety reports that Ayo Edebiri has joined the in-development Barney movie as both screenwriter and star. Daniel Kaluuya’s 59% Productions is partnering with A24 to produce the film, working closely with Mattel Films, the owners of the Barney IP. Even though Kaluuya has been overseeing Barney's creative development as lead producer, he is not expected to star in the film. Details on the plot of Barney are under wraps,...

We're still not over the end of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," and to be quite honest, we might never be. Every "Star Trek" fan loves "Lower Decks." Well, at least all of us here at /Film do -- I can't speak for any of the contrarian weirdos out there who hate fun or are somehow allergic to animation. Fans have become extremely attached to the cast, and their voices now rattle around in the dark recesses of our brains. Whenever I do a rewatch of "Craig of the Creek" (another show coming to an end too soon), I feel my heart break a little whenever Noël Wells' voice as Kelsey creeps into sounding like her "Lower Decks" character, Ensign D'Vana Tendi. I'm just not ready to admit that it's really over.

Saturday morning cartoons were the pinnacle of most people's childhoods. After a long week of school, there was simply nothing better than racing downstairs and catching up with a beloved show. Plus, with so many options to choose from, these mornings often felt like a wonderland of entertainment.
However, a lot of adult fans still miss the themes and energies of these cartoons but don't want to watch the same shows over and over again. Yet, there's still a plethora of undiscovered shows that still offer the same thrills as nostalgic Saturday morning cartoons. Not to mention, these shows are pretty contemporary, so fans still have a ton of episodes to search through.

Since launching in 1992, Cartoon Network has been a leader in animated kids' programming. With their original Cartoon Cartoons series as well as a broad catalog of inherited Hanna-Barbera classics, they pushed animation into the mainstream of cable television. Their current programming keeps expanding to include critically acclaimed shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball and Craig of the Creek, but many fans continue to return to the titles of their past.
Cartoon Network has undergone a variety of changes over the past few years, especially given their recent reorganization due to the Warner Bros. Discovery merger blending Cartoon Networks Studios with Warner Bros. Animation. But one thing that will always stay the same, even with different generations having differing opinions as to their favorites, is the long-lasting appeal of Cartoon Network's content.

Cartoon Network fans are starting 2025 on a sour note as several beloved animated series have been removed from Max.
Just last month, it was announced that four popular DC animated series—Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series—would leave the platform by the end of 2024. True to the announcement, these shows disappeared from Max’s library after December 31. But it didn’t stop there.
As of January 1, more fan-favorites have also been removed, including Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Looney Tunes Show, and the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go! While the show’s eighth season remains on Max, fans hoping to revisit earlier episodes will have to look elsewhere, like Hulu, where some seasons are still available.

Cartoon Network fans are starting 2025 with disappointment as several beloved animated series have been removed from Max.
Let’s remember that last month, we learned that Max, the streaming home of countless DC shows and movies, is facing some unexpected changes as four fan-favorite DC animated series were set to leave its library by the start of 2025.
Namely, Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series are no longer available after December 31. However, it seems that those were not the only projects removed from Max’s library starting January 1.
Among the notable titles now missing are the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go!, the original Teen Titans, Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Looney Tunes Show, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

Unfortunately for fans, Cartoon Network's hit animated series Craig of the Creek is officially coming to an end. After six years and six seasons of mysterious adventures, diverse characters, and exploring friendship, the beloved show that resonated with kids and adults alike will premiere its grand finale in Jan. 2025.
Created by Steven Universe writers Matt Burnett and Ben Levin, Craig of the Creek follows titular 10-year-old cartographer Craig Williams, voiced by Hero Mode's Philip Solomon. Alongside friends Kelsey (Noël Wells) and J.P. (H. Michael Croner), Craig embarks on fantastic expeditions within the wild wilderness of a nearby creek in the fictional Balitmore-dc suburb of Herkleton, Maryland. Their fun-filled escapades are only limited by their imaginations, as the simple creek becomes their playground — embodying the spirit of childhood whimsy and lifelong friendship.
The show quickly developed a dedicated fanbase through its commitment to diversity, LGBTQ+ representation, and, overall, inclusive storytelling.

Karen Fukuhara has had a particularly fine career, particularly in recent years. Setting aside credits in "Bullet Train" and Cartoon Network's much-beloved animated series "Craig of the Creek," Fukuhara has made a name for herself as fan-favorite Kimiko on Amazon Prime Video's violent superhero series "The Boys." Given that show's continued success, it seems more than likely we'll be seeing more from the actress in the years to come. But her start in the business wasn't actually as an actress. Rather, it was as a celebrity interviewer for the Disney Channel.
In an interview with Collider to promote "The Boys" season 4, Fukuhara dove into her past on Disney's "Movie Surfers" show. The series featured kids interviewing celebrities and highlighting upcoming movies for their audience. Fukuhara was, for a time in the early 2000s, one of the kids putting in...

Brad Winderbaum is Marvel Studios' Head of Marvel Streaming, Television and Animation, and the latest guest on The Official Marvel Podcast.
With this being an "official" interview, the updates shared by the executive were carefully chosen and not too revealing. However, there are some interesting tidbits on the animation side, including news on Black Panther spin-off, Eyes of Wakanda.
"Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show we're doing in animation, ties directly into the MCU," Winderbaum confirmed. "This is a story about Wakandan history. It's produced by Ryan Coogler and directed by Todd Harris who is one of our longtime storyboard artists who I first met when he designed the Hulk vs. Thor fight in Ragnarok."
"It's an awesome show. The action is insane and the storytelling is fantastic. It's both about the history of Wakanda, but also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods," he teased.

Warner Bros. Discovery cutbacks likely led to Craig of the Creek's cancellation, with episodes slashed in season 5. The magical girl genre is one that’s near and dear to my heart. As a kid, anime like Sailor Moon immediately caught my attention with their all-girl team-ups, openness about wanting to rest after the fight and severe lack of “girls are useless” narratives. It’s no wonder so many creators take inspiration from a genre that champions love, friendship, self-care and badassery. Such is the case for Pearl Low. “Creating community through storytelling is at the heart of why I tell the types of stories that I do.” - Pearl Low, creator of Wheels & Roses Low has worked in animation for over eight years, having worked on projects such as Hair Love (Sony Pictures Animation), Craig of the Creek (Cartoon Network), #1 Happy Family USA (A24) and more. Low has since created Orange Blossom Studios , an independent studio that, according to Low, “strives to center diverse magical and cultural stories.

Initially premiering on Cartoon Network in the late 2010s, Craig of the Creek is a fan-favorite animated series that has now spawned its own prequel film, Craig Before the Creek. Craig of the Creek thrives as a short-form series with 11-minute-long segments, but as a feature film, the cute characters and calming animation style are not enough to warrant the 90-minute runtime. The plot strives to be grand, initially drawing viewers in but eventually reveals that it doesn't have much to say. For young fans of the series, this film may be a fun explanation of how Craig found the kid utopia by the creek, but for older audiences, Craig Before the Creek may prove to be a bit of a bore.
Craig Before the Creek depicts the title character moving to Herkleton, where the series takes place. Feeling sad about leaving his friends from his old town behind, Craig,...

When Guillermo del Toro accepted the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature ("Pinocchio") in 2022, he proclaimed during his speech, "Animation is cinema. Animation is not a genre. Animation is ready to be taken to the next step, we are all ready for it." Well, 2023 certainly heard him, because this year we were gifted an embarrassment of riches — all using the animated medium to push the limits of storytelling and visual artistry. At the same time, animated projects are constantly under attack by powerful millionaires in positions of power who can't or refuse to see the value in animation and instead still operate under the false assumption that it's nothing more than "kid's stuff." And even still, there was plenty of incredible animation this year specifically targeting young audiences, like the "Craig of the Creek" prequel film "Craig Before the Creek," Apple TV+'s "The Snoopy Show," and of course, the undisputed children's champion,...

The jokes will extend well past April 1st on HBO and HBO Max.
“Barry” returns for its fourth and final season. After the shocking Season 3 finale which saw Barry (Billy Hader) getting arrested and Cousineau (Henry Winkler) being hailed as a hero, there will be plenty of consequences for both. The dark comedy premieres on April 16 with two episodes.
“A Black Lady Sketch Show” will also bring plenty of laughs when it returns for its fourth season. The sketch comedy series premieres April 14.
On the drama side, the limited series “Love and Death” premieres on April 27. It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.
First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.
Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

When The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder debuted last year on Disney+, it called back to the bygone era of Black TV sitcoms in which its 2001 Disney Channel predecessor shined. One where Black families, culture and people were not only celebrated on the small screens in living rooms across the country, but the central focal point of multiple simultaneously airing (though mostly live-action) series.
Its return on Feb. 3, however, pointed to a stunning reality. While the original series aired in the 2000s alongside a handful of animated kids shows also featuring Black leads, including Filmore!, Static Shock, Tutenstein and Little Bill, there has since been only a handful of animated shows aimed at non-adult audiences that explicitly center Black leads and, more specifically, their families.

Hollywood keeps pushing the envelope with Black representation, but breaking boundaries is ongoing work. Many of the most successful pieces of media centering Black stories are based in violence, grief, and trauma, either historical or imagined. As essential as these stories are to understanding centuries of oppression, part of unlearning racial bias is recognizing that everyone experiences joy, sorrow, love, disappointment, and everything in between — that we relate more than imaginable to people we perceive as different.
As crucial as it is to learn the world’s (and the United States especially) history of horrific discrimination, it’s also important for audiences to witness stories of Black triumph, survival, and just plain silliness. It’s also critical for the creative voices behind these works, because larger audiences for a movie or series show studios and distributors that there’s a demand for Black stories and talent. It feels just like last month we were complimenting Hulu on its true crime offerings. Well, with its list of new releases for February 2023, Hulu is staying in the true crime lane. Suppose that’ll happen when you push back the release date of a series or two.
February sees the arrival of three notable true crime series on Hulu. Taiwan Crime Stories premieres on Feb. 1 and presents four true tales from Taiwan’s criminal “dark underbelly.” That will be followed by ABC News Studios’ Killing County on Feb. 3. That three-episode series ponders the question “what happens when police kill?” The most interesting true crime offering premieres on Feb. 9. That’s when Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence College shares its four-episode saga of Larry Ray and the young college students he victimized.

February can be a weird month. It’s too late to wish anyone “Happy New Year,” late enough to abandon resolutions, and too early to leave the house if you want to avoid getting caught in nasty weather (even in Los Angeles).
This month also marks the third and final season of Hulu’s widely acclaimed “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” which charts the rise of the Wu-Tang clan over time. Season 3 catches up with the Wu-Tang members after their first album, facing divergent paths in the years that follow. As with any group navigating the challenging lure of fame and money, it’s a treacherous road — but an indelible journey. “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” Season 3 premieres February 15 on Hulu.
Here’s everything coming to Hulu in February 2023.
February 1
“Taiwan Crime Stories” (Season 1)
“Impractical Jokers” (Seasons 1-3)
“Naruto Shippuden”
“Sherman’s Showcase” (Season 2B)
“2012” (2009)
“50/50” (2011)
“Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman” (2021)

With the Christmas season rolling around and the future of Cartoon Network uncertain, now might be the last time to revisit the esteemed animation channel during the Christmas holiday season. No doubt, specials for shows like Craig of the Creek and Teen Titans Go! will be shown along the likes of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.
While Cartoon Network might be coming to a close in 2023, the programming it put out will live on through streaming and DVD releases. The best of the holiday programming according to Redditors might not ever grace broadcast television again, but these are the specials that will, regardless, live on for years to come.

2022 has been a devastating year for the world of animation. The Oscars kicked things off by relegating animated feature films to nothing more than children's fodder, Netflix is slowly disintegrating its entire animation department, an animated voice-over legend left this mortal plane far too soon, some of the best animated films of the year were unceremoniously dropped on streaming instead of being given the opportunity to shine in theaters, and HBO Max has absolutely obliterated its animation catalog, recreating the very problem that Cartoon Network was created to solve. Animators are continuing to fight for fair wages and better work environments while the industry as a whole continues to treat the medium with the same modicum of respect given to a wet newspaper.

Since a certain show about houses and dragons just wrapped, HBO Max has a big scheduling hole fill next month. How will they go about it? Let’s find out with the streamer’s list of new releases for November 2022!
Obviously, there is no replacing House of the Dragon‘s cultural impact so HBO is looking for some singles in November, rather than the homerun. Things get started on in promising fashion on Nov. 3. That date sees the premiere of Titans season 4 and the interesting true crime documentary Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty. The former will continue the adventures of DC’s heralded Titans team (and introduce some new heavy hitters) while the latter will try to keep pace with Netflix’s prolific true crime output.
November is also when HBO Max gets a head start on the holiday season. A Christmas Story sequel, aptly titled A Christmas Story Christmas,...

As the holiday season begins, HBO Max is adding several Christmas-themed film premieres and the returns of hit TV shows in November 2022. HBO Max’s new additions in October 2022 were huge for the streaming service, primarily with House of the Dragon’s season 1 finale on October 23. For HBO Max’s TV series debuts, the month saw the premieres of The White Lotus season 2 and Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler season 3. The end of October also saw the exciting HBO Max streaming premiere of the 2022 horror movie Barbarian.
HBO Max’s November 2022 additions kick off with the streaming debut of See How They Run (November 1), the Sam Rockwell-starring mystery movie that premiered theatrically in September. Also arriving are the holiday-themed exclusive HBO Max movies A Christmas Story Christmas (November 17), a follow-up to the 1983 classic; Holiday Harmony (November 24), following a singer-songwriter helping a group of misfit kids prepare for a...
