The 2025 finale season is upon us. As shows that aired in the fall and midseason prepare to air their final episodes of the 2024-2025 TV year, networks and streamers are slowly starting to reveal which programs won’t be coming back. Cancellations are unfortunately inevitable and unavoidable, and even long-running shows must eventually come to an end. Heading into 2025, we already knew that some of the biggest shows of the last decade would be releasing their final episodes this year. Below is the list of all the TV shows that have either been canceled, or are ending, in 2025. We’ll continue to update this list as more cancellations and final seasons are announced. “Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie” is rounding out its cast with all stars. Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Bill Nye and Meredith MacNeill have been added to the third feature film alongside franchise veteran Ron Pardo.

The movie will release theatrically on July 31, 2026, and will be distributed by Paramount Pictures worldwide, excluding Canada where Elevation Pictures distributes.

This isn’t the first time these stars have appeared in children’s projects. Jamil, who is likely best known for her work on “The Good Place,” appeared in “Princess Power” and “Big City Greens.” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews has appeared in “Craig of the Creek,” and Hilton has starred in “Rainbow High.” As for Snoop Dogg, in addition to appearing in “The Garfield Movie,” the rapper is behind “Doggyland,” a YouTube animated series that puts a hip-hop spin on classic nursery rhymes. The idea of a Barney movie being released by A24, produced by Academy Award-winning actor DanielKaluuya, and written by and starring Emmy-winning actress Ayo Edebiri sounds like a joke in an SNL sketch. However, it most certainly is real. In fact, A24's Barney might be one of the most fascinating IP adaptations since Barbie. The Barney movie was first announced in 2019 but now appears to be gaining some real traction as Kaluuya is putting a strong creative team together for the live-action reboot.

Variety reports that Ayo Edebiri has joined the in-development Barney movie as both screenwriter and star. Daniel Kaluuya’s 59% Productions is partnering with A24 to produce the film, working closely with Mattel Films, the owners of the Barney IP. The first of the 2025 NAACP Image Awards’ winners were presented in a virtual, non-televised ceremony on Tuesday night.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, which scored nine nominations, won two awards on Tuesday — best supporting actress for Taraji P. Henson and best supporting actor for Samuel L. Jackson. Children’s show Gracie’s Corner also won two awards.

Other notable winners announced Tuesday include Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, which won for outstanding variety (series or special); The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri, who won for outstanding breakthrough creative (TV); The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat director Tina Mabry, who won for best directing in a TV movie or special; How to Die Alone‘s Tiffany Johnson, who won for best directing in a comedy series, with the award coming just two weeks after Hulu canceled the series following its first season; and Keke Palmer, who won for hosting Password.

We're still not over the end of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," and to be quite honest, we might never be. Every "Star Trek" fan loves "Lower Decks." With their original Cartoon Cartoons series as well as a broad catalog of inherited Hanna-Barbera classics, they pushed animation into the mainstream of cable television. Their current programming keeps expanding to include critically acclaimed shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball and Craig of the Creek, but many fans continue to return to the titles of their past.

Cartoon Network fans are starting 2025 on a sour note as several beloved animated series have been removed from Max.

Just last month, it was announced that four popular DC animated series—Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series—would leave the platform by the end of 2024. True to the announcement, these shows disappeared from Max’s library after December 31. But it didn’t stop there.

As of January 1, more fan-favorites have also been removed, including Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Looney Tunes Show, and the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go! While the show’s eighth season remains on Max, fans hoping to revisit earlier episodes will have to look elsewhere, like Hulu, where some seasons are still available.

Let’s remember that last month, we learned that Max, the streaming home of countless DC shows and movies, is facing some unexpected changes as four fan-favorite DC animated series were set to leave its library by the start of 2025.

Namely, Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series are no longer available after December 31. However, it seems that those were not the only projects removed from Max’s library starting January 1.

Among the notable titles now missing are the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go!, the original Teen Titans, Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Looney Tunes Show, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

Unfortunately for fans, Cartoon Network's hit animated series Craig of the Creek is officially coming to an end. After six years and six seasons of mysterious adventures, diverse characters, and exploring friendship, the beloved show that resonated with kids and adults alike will premiere its grand finale in Jan. 2025.

Created by Steven Universe writers Matt Burnett and Ben Levin, Craig of the Creek follows titular 10-year-old cartographer Craig Williams, voiced by Hero Mode's Philip Solomon. Alongside friends Kelsey (Noël Wells) and J.P. (H. Michael Croner), Craig embarks on fantastic expeditions within the wild wilderness of a nearby creek in the fictional Balitmore-dc suburb of Herkleton, Maryland. Brad Winderbaum is Marvel Studios' Head of Marvel Streaming, Television and Animation, and the latest guest on The Official Marvel Podcast. 

With this being an "official" interview, the updates shared by the executive were carefully chosen and not too revealing. However, there are some interesting tidbits on the animation side, including news on Black Panther spin-off, Eyes of Wakanda. 

"Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show we're doing in animation, ties directly into the MCU," Winderbaum confirmed. "This is a story about Wakandan history. It's produced by Ryan Coogler and directed by Todd Harris who is one of our longtime storyboard artists who I first met when he designed the Hulk vs. Thor fight in Ragnarok."

"It's an awesome show. The action is insane and the storytelling is fantastic. It's both about the history of Wakanda, but also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods," he teased.

With its list of new releases for June 2024, HBO streamer Max is finally headed back to Westeros.

The highlight of this month is undoubtedly the premiere of House of the Dragon season 2 on June 16. Episode 1 will drop on both HBO and Max that Sunday night at 9 p.m. Et. With the infamous Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons now underway, the next batch of episodes for this Game of Thrones prequel should be truly epic.

Arriving before House of the Dragon season 2 is another story of a fraught succession. Ren Faire, a documentary series about an ailing king retiring from the country’s largest renaissance festival, premieres on June 2. Other TV options this month include Julio Torres comedy Fantasmas on June 7 and docuseries One South: Portrait of a Psych Unit on June 25.

Nickelodeon today revealed the official trailer and key art for the all-new original animated series The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, sharing a glimpse into the reimagined Fairy World and new city of Dimmadelphia.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, the 20-episode series premieres Monday, May 20 at 4:30 p.m. Et/Pt on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and will be available on Netflix internationally later this year.

Nominations for the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced on Wednesday, with more than 300 individual nominees represented across dozens of categories.

Initially premiering on Cartoon Network in the late 2010s, Craig of the Creek is a fan-favorite animated series that has now spawned its own prequel film, Craig Before the Creek. Craig of the Creek thrives as a short-form series with 11-minute-long segments, but as a feature film, the cute characters and calming animation style are not enough to warrant the 90-minute runtime. The plot strives to be grand, initially drawing viewers in but eventually reveals that it doesn't have much to say. For young fans of the series, this film may be a fun explanation of how Craig found the kid utopia by the creek, but for older audiences, Craig Before the Creek may prove to be a bit of a bore.

The 2nd annual Children’s & Family Emmys got underway on Saturday night, starting with the Children’s & Family Creative Arts Emmys at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. According to early results — pending final tallies — Disney+ and Netflix tied the lead with nine wins overall.

A petition was filed with the National Labor Relations Board today requesting a union election. The petition includes 66 staffers at Warner Bros. Animation and 22 at Cartoon Network, including roles like production manager, digital production assistant, It technician, production coordinator, production assistant, design production coordinator, assistant production manager and senior assistant production manager.

They are involved in such Warner Bros. projects as Batman: The Caped Crusader, Harley Quinn and Teen Titans Go! and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, We Baby Bears and Craig of the Creek.

The workers also requested voluntary recognition from management at the Warner Bros. Discovery subsidiaries.

Max is following DC’s lead with its list of new releases for July 2023.

The two big ticket items this month are of the superhero variety. My Adventures with Superman arrives to Max on July 7 after making its Adult Swim premiere the night before. The end of the month sees Harley Quinn season 4 making its long-awaited debut on July 27. Other original TV titles of note are the Steven Soderbergh-directed Full Circle (July 13) and the third and final season of How To With John Wilson on July 28.

On the movie side of things, documentary Glitch: The Rise and Fall of HQ Trivia premieres on July 20. Before that on July 13 is both a fresh reboot of filmmaking competition Project Greenlight and the movie that came of it, Gray Matter. Library movies in July include Pulp Fiction, V for Vendetta, Lethal Weapon, and more on July 1.

The two-part documentary The Golden Boy about the life and career of Oscar De La Hoya joins the streaming service’s lineup on July 24th. Shaun White: The Last Run, a docuseries about the Olympian, is set to premiere on July 6th.

The jokes will extend well past April 1st on HBO and HBO Max.

“Barry” returns for its fourth and final season. After the shocking Season 3 finale which saw Barry (Billy Hader) getting arrested and Cousineau (Henry Winkler) being hailed as a hero, there will be plenty of consequences for both. The dark comedy premieres on April 16 with two episodes.

“A Black Lady Sketch Show” will also bring plenty of laughs when it returns for its fourth season. The sketch comedy series premieres April 14.

On the drama side, the limited series “Love and Death” premieres on April 27. It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.

First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.

Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

Bill Hader returns for one final season of Barry and the popular sketch comedy A Black Lady Sketch Show kicks off its fourth season on HBO Max in April 2023. Additional highlights of the streaming service’s April lineup include the debut of Love & Death, a limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Patrick Fugit; season two of Somebody Somewhere with Bridget Everett; and the return of 100 Foot Wave for a second season.

In addition, the Titans mid-season premiere arrives on April 13. HBO Max offers this description of the fourth and final season’s remaining episodes: “The Titans – with the exception of Gar – are returned to the Temple of Trigon and rush to find Sebastian and Mother Mayhem before Sebastian summons Trigon. Along the way, they come across a prophecy that may require Kory to make a huge sacrifice to save the world.

In the final season of HBO Max’s “Barry,” premiering on April 16, Barry’s arrest for the murder of Cousineau’s girlfriend leads to a shocking conclusion. Barry (Bill Hader), a hitman who stumbles into acting, explores the dark, often comedic underbelly of both LA gangsters and Hollywood. Henry Winkler stars as Cousineau, Barry’s acting teacher and the man forced to confront the reality of his former student.

When The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder debuted last year on Disney+, it called back to the bygone era of Black TV sitcoms in which its 2001 Disney Channel predecessor shined. One where Black families, culture and people were not only celebrated on the small screens in living rooms across the country, but the central focal point of multiple simultaneously airing (though mostly live-action) series.

Its return on Feb. 3, however, pointed to a stunning reality. While the original series aired in the 2000s alongside a handful of animated kids shows also featuring Black leads, including Filmore!, Static Shock, Tutenstein and Little Bill, there has since been only a handful of animated shows aimed at non-adult audiences that explicitly center Black leads and, more specifically, their families.

As Black History Month runs throughout February, television will celebrate Black voices, icons and stories across entertainment, politics, sports and more.

Throughout February, audiences will be able to keep up with Hulu’s year-long initiative in spotlighting Black stories and storytellers on the platform’s “Black Stories Always” hub. In addition to new series and season premieres, from “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” to “The 1619 Project,” the platform will continue to stream new episodes of “Abbott Elementary” and “Grown-ish,” and feature classic titles from Black storytellers including “Living Single” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

BET will honor Black History Month with a programming schedule that features new unscripted series, including “Black Icons — Past, Present, Future” and “America In Black” as well as the 54th NAACP Image Awards telecast on Feb. 25.

As essential as these stories are to understanding centuries of oppression, part of unlearning racial bias is recognizing that everyone experiences joy, sorrow, love, disappointment, and everything in between — that we relate more than imaginable to people we perceive as different.

As crucial as it is to learn the world’s (and the United States especially) history of horrific discrimination, it’s also important for audiences to witness stories of Black triumph, survival, and just plain silliness. It feels just like last month we were complimenting Hulu on its true crime offerings. Well, with its list of new releases for February 2023, Hulu is staying in the true crime lane. Suppose that’ll happen when you push back the release date of a series or two.

February sees the arrival of three notable true crime series on Hulu. Taiwan Crime Stories premieres on Feb. 1 and presents four true tales from Taiwan’s criminal “dark underbelly.” That will be followed by ABC News Studios’ Killing County on Feb. 3. That three-episode series ponders the question “what happens when police kill?” The most interesting true crime offering premieres on Feb. 9. That’s when Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence College shares its four-episode saga of Larry Ray and the young college students he victimized.

Fox has released a first look at the upcoming special, “TMZ Investigates: Lisa Marie Presley: Unending Tragedy,” which premieres Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. Pt on the network.

The all-new special will look into the death of Lisa Marie Presley, the musician and only child of Elvis Presley, who died on Jan. 12 at the age of 54, promising “never-before-heard details.” The special will also delve into Presley’s personal life, including her marriage to Michael Jackson.
