New Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa's Career, Explained
Image
Doctor Who is nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. Since it first started airing way back in 1963, the show has become a British institution on par with the likes of The Beatles and the royal family themselves. Its popularity has also led to the role of The Doctor — the time-traveling alien from the planet Gallifrey and the show's main character — becoming one of the most desired TV roles for actors in the UK and, indeed, around the world. Similarly to the James Bond franchise, whenever the actor that is playing The Doctor announces they are leaving the series, fans and casual viewers alike all stop to see who will be next to take on the prestigious role. That time has finally come; it's time to take a look at the new Doctor.

Back in May 2022, 29-year-old Ncuti Gatwa was announced as the new Doctor, following Jodie Whitaker's decision to leave the show the previous year.

Ncuti Gatwa's Best Movie and TV Show Roles, Including "Sex Education" and "Barbie"
Image
There's no doubt about it: Ncuti Gatwa is having a bit of a moment. 2023 has been a big year for the Rwandan–Scottish actor, with the final season of his breakout hit show "Sex Education" hitting the airwaves right after he appeared alongside A-listers as one of the Kens in "Barbie." Now, he's well on his way to leading-man status, including an upcoming stint as one of the UK's most famous characters. Although his onscreen career is just getting started, he's already starred in a few very recognizable TV shows and movies. Here's everywhere you can catch him so far - and where he'll be appearing next.

Ncuti Gatwa Movies "Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans" (2019)

This historical parody from the beloved "Horrible Histories" team narrates the story of the Roman Empire in Britain - albeit with some comedic historical liberties. Gatwa plays Timidius, a minor Roman character.

Ncuti Gatwa Says He "Drowned" in Ryan Gosling's Blue Eyes on Barbie Set
Image
Greta Gerwig made a great choice casting Ryan Gosling as Ken in Barbie, as he captivated the audience and co-stars, especially Ncuti Gatwa. Warner Bros. and Gerwig were happy to stick with their original choice of Gosling, as he and his character were highly praised in the film. Gatwa found it difficult to work with Gosling because of his mesmerizing blue eyes, and even fell over once while talking to him.

There's no doubt that Greta Gerwig nailed it by casting Ryan Gosling's as Barbie's eternal companion Ken, since he has not only captivated the audience with his performance, but also his own co-stars, especially Ncuti Gatwa.

Just as Margot Robbie was always the first choice for the main role in the highest-grossing movie from 2023, Gosling was also the first name that came to mind when thinking about who would be part of the large and full-of-stars cast of Barbie.

Locke & Key Renewed for a Third Season by Netflix

Multiple outlets are reporting the renewal news, including The Hollywood Reporter, along with the announcement that Meredith Averill has signed a deal with Netflix for "TV and other projects."

Here's what co-showrunner Cuse had to say about the season 3 renewal (via THR):
