If Amazon's original series Daisy Jones & The Six is your first introduction to actress and model Camila Morrone, her lead role in the A24 stoner comedy Never Goin' Back is proof that she was already on her way to success at the time of its release in 2018. Adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid's 2019 novel of the same name, Daisy Jones & The Six follows the rise of a 1970s rock band, loosely based on Fleetwood Mac. Morrone's character is also named Camila, lead singer Billy's (Sam Claflin) caring, supportive wife (and mother of his child), who brings a calming presence to the otherwise chaotic The Six and helps keep them together on their way to global success. Never a member of the band herself, Camila's character is used to contrast that of the titular Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and plays a mostly supporting role.

Set in the rock 'n' roll-heavy 1970s, Daisy Jones & The Six documents the rise and fall of a fictional rock band, with the characters played by a star-studded cast. The Prime original is based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, who was inspired by the career of Fleetwood Mac while writing it. The series focuses on the origins of the titular band as they carve a niche in the Los Angeles music scene following up to the events that led to their eventual breakup. It's certainly a heartbreaking and compelling story.
Apart from the songs by its fictional band, what makes Daisy Jones & The Six more interesting is the documentary format used by showrunners Scott Neustadter and Michael H Weber (both of whom co-wrote screenplays like 500 Days of Summer). The story is narrated through flashbacks by the band members as they reunited for a...

Though you’ll undoubtedly forget many times while you’re watching it, Prime Video’s music drama Daisy Jones & The Six is not based on a true story. At least, not really. Adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name, this series about the titular band was inspired by the real life drama of classic ’70s rock group Fleetwood Mac.
While Fleetwood Mac is very much real (and great!), Daisy Jones & The Six is not real (though also great!). Still, that does not make the Behind the Music-esque drama they experience in these 10 episodes feel any less real. Contributing to that sense of verisimilitude is that the cast of Daisy Jones & The Six all fit their roles to a tee.
Aside from the series two eminently recognizable leads (and a bit of Raylan Givens thrown in there for good measure), this series enjoys the...

Augustine Frizzell is set to direct “The Invisible Life of Addie Larue,” a feature film adaptation of V.E. Schwab’s fantasy novel.
Frizzell will also write the script with her husband, filmmaker David Lowery. Schwab was initially on board to pen the screenplay from an initial draft by Britt Poulton and Dan Madison Savage. Though she’s no longer adapting her words for the big screen, Schwab will remain involved on the project as a producer.
“The Invisible Life of Addie Larue” follows a woman who makes a Faustian bargain to live forever. But in return, she’s cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets. That all changes 300 years later, when Addie Larue stumbles upon a man who remembers her name. The past isn’t just a different country, but a different movie entirely, in “The Last Letter From Your Lover,” a lushly mounted pair of love stories — one present, one past — that are faintly enmeshed but almost entirely disparate in tone, style and emotional impression. In the first, Shailene Woodley and Callum Turner fall hard for each other in an obstacle-strewn, 1960s-set romance of chance encounters, missed connections and moist-eyed rendezvous on railway platforms, channeling the vintage Hollywood melodrama of “An Affair to Remember.” In the second, Felicity Jones is a cut-glass hybrid of Carrie Bradshaw and Bridget Jones, falling only incidentally for the awkward archivist who assists her in piecing together the former story, before the narratives merge in a more British, neatly calligraphed rewrite of “The Notebook.”

‘The Last Letter from Your Lover’ Review: Jojo Moyes’ Time-Spanning Love Story Gets Lackluster Movie
You don’t have to be a sharp-edged journalist to see the obvious connection between the apparent heroines at the heart of Augustine Frizzell’s “The Last Letter from Your Lover,” including dull-edged journalist Ellie (Felicity Jones) and glamorous stifled ’60s housewife Jennifer (Shailene Woodley). Both women have been waylaid by love gone wrong, and can only hope to find true happiness by imagining — and then seizing — a new life for themselves.
It’s certainly a sweet concept for a novel, but one that never quite translates its disparate tones and stories into a cohesive cinematic experience.
But back to those different heroines. Split between two settings — and then, why not, one more — Frizzell’s film tracks the intersecting tales of Ellie and Jennifer, which are bound together by a series of wrenching love letters that captivate both of them. Jennifer was the recipient of those letters, but when we first meet her,...

Filmmaker/actress Augustine Frizzell‘s sophomore feature could have perhaps preemed in 2020, but it looks like 2021 was perhaps a better bet. A Netflix project based on Jojo Moyes’ best-selling novel, The Last Letter From Your Lover might preem in the same lieu Never Goin’ Back did back in 2018 – just in an altogether different program section. The set in the 1960’s project features the likes of Shailene Woodley, Felicity Jones and Callum Turner and went into production in October 2019 in Mallorca and London.
Gist: Felicity Jones stars as a journalist in contemporary London who uncovers a series of love letters which recount a star-crossed love affair from the 1960s and she becomes obsessed with tracking them down to find out how their story ended.…...

In “Mickey and the Bear,” Mickey is the kind of kid who’s had to grow up too fast. Looking after her father Hank (James Badge Dale) — who’s both a veteran showing signs of Ptsd and an opioid addict — after her mom’s death from cancer has forced her to take on the duties of the house and to become her father’s caretaker.
She’s the one to make sure there’s dinner on the table, money to buy supplies, and that her dad’s prescriptions are filled. While other kids at her Montana school are wondering what they might do after graduation, Mickey’s halfheartedly resigned that this is her lot in life, to pick up her drunk dad from the local jail or hospital, to worry about him constantly or to watch out for his mood swings. But a series of events close to the end...

When “Mickey and the Bear” actors Camila Morrone and James Badge Dale wrapped the emotionally heavy final scenes of the indie drama, they needed a disco party and some Beyonce to decompress.
“It was taxing towards the end when we had to do those big, heavyweight emotional scenes in the last two days of filming,” Morrone told TheWrap’s Beatrice Verhoeven, to which Dale added, “With this film, it goes in a certain direction but we worked so hard to keep it light. We worked so hard to have fun on set.”
The two actors explained that they shot the last scenes of the films chronologically, so wrapping with the final shot that was the most demanding emotionally was a shock to both of them, because, as Attanasio says, there was no sense of “closure.” “It was actually quite shocking to end on that scene,” she added.

Sexual power plays and slut-shaming are the central themes of “Slut in a Good Way,” director Sophie Lorain’s slight but amiable story of three straight teenage girls and their romantic lives. Shot in black and white and set mostly in a retail environment, the French-Canadian film gives off a “Clerks” vibe as the trio of protagonists slack off, bitch about pay, and talk about life and love.
Catherine Léger’s story starts off in a sex shop as 17-year-old Charlotte (Marguerite Bouchard) looks for a bustier that matches one she saw in one of her boyfriend’s porn clips. What she buys doesn’t have the desired effect, though it wouldn’t have mattered what she chose: Her boyfriend tells her that he’s gay. So she gets drunk on a playground with friends Mégane (Romane Denis) and Aube (Rose Adam), lamenting that he’s “perfect” and she loves him.

Summertime sisterhood stoner comedies are hard to come by...particularly when they are refreshingly biting and candid in wild impishness. Writer/director Augustine Frizzell's film feature debut Never Goin' Back is gloriously telling in its subversive skin detailing the rollicking trials and tribulations of a couple of Texan teen girls going against the conventional grid in their youthful, stillborn lives. Frizell, whose artistry has ranged from acting to costume designing, possesses an honest, irreverent and observational eye on the wayward mindset of young female-centric co-dependency attached at the hedonistic hip. Think of a junior-sized Thelma and Louise meets the hyper antics of Harold and Kumar combined with the Cheech and Chong haze and one pretty much has an idea how audacious, playfully reckless and flippant Never Goin' Back is in its acidic spunk. In short,...

Put “Never Goin’ Back” stars Camila Morrone and Maia Mitchell in a kitchen with TheWrap’s Beatrice Verhoeven to make pancakes in honor of the movie, and you’ll get bland, deformed flapjacks and a whole lot of laughter.
“There’s a particular scene in the film where we may or may not be under the influence of a certain natural drug, and we are at work and we see pancakes,” Mitchell explained while mixing the batter.
“Never Goin’ Back,” in limited release now, stars the two actresses as best friends, who in order to take a birthday trip to the beach try to take up more shifts at work, but everything — and we mean, everything — goes wrong in the process.

Is this the weirdest movie reimagining yet? In the grand tradition of nostalgic reboots like Ghostbusters, Baywatch, and Jumanji, it's now time for your favorite '90s holiday movie to be completely reworked as an R-rated comedy. And Ryan Reynolds is attached, though it sounds like he won't have a starring role.
Deadline reports that Reynolds is set to produce Stoned Alone, a reimagining of the family classic Home Alone, which swaps 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) with a 20-something stoner. In a plot reminiscent of the original movie, the central character finds himself flying solo for the holidays after missing a flight. He fills his time smoking weed until burglars interrupt his plans, and he finds himself having to protect his home while stoned (and paranoid). Yep, you read that right.
Fox is developing the feature from an idea by exec Matt Reilly, with a script by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider.

Home Alone Gets Rebooted as an R-Rated Stoner Comedy from Ryan Reynolds
Home Alone is getting the reboot treatment. But it's not what you think. This won't be a family friendly comedy that's viewed around the Thanksgiving dinner table. This will be an R-rated stoner comedy. And it's coming from one of the filthy masterminds behind Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds.
Ryan Reynolds is set to produce Stoned Alone. This new version is being called more of a reimagining. It's still coming from 20th Century Fox, the studio that gave us the original. And it appears that they're getting their rocks off and their socks off before Fox becomes swallowed up by Disney. Because we can't imagine Alan Horn being okay with this.
Stoned Alone will carry the same spirit as Home Alone. It will be a fine blend of that original John Hughes holiday classic mixed with a bunch of raunchy jokes. The movie is currently in development. But it isn't noted whether...

Director Augustine Firzzell's debut feature, Never Goin' Back is the exuberant story of two girls living day-to-day whose only aspiration is a trip to the beach. Unfortunately for them, they are broke and everyone they know is a total loser, which makes it difficult for them to get their shit together. Oh, and they are kind of fuck-ups themselves, but in a charming kinda way. Starring relative feature film newcomers, Maia Mitchell and Camila Morrone, Never Goin' Back is a coming of age story unlike any we've seen recently. Mixing the excitement and empathy of the work of Sean Baker with the warts and all view of female adolescence of Catherine Hardwicke's Thirteen, Never Goin' Back looks like a really interesting exploration of growing up....

A red-band trailer has been released for the upcoming raunchy coming-of-age film Never Goin' Back. The movie centers around two young women, who have no idea what to do with their lives. They are a couple of irresponsible slackers who are looking for a way to escape the crappy lives that they are living. Here's the synopsis:
Never Goin’ Back is a fresh and funny look at female friendship, following Angela (Maia Mitchell) and Jessie (Camila Morrone), who dream of escaping their waitressing jobs at a low-rent Texas diner, even if it’s only to Galveston. Taking place over just a few days, the film follows their hilarious and unpredictable misadventures on the streets of suburban Dallas as they attempt increasingly madcap and wild schemes to try and raise some cash.

"Well, well, well, look at this!"
