This series was co-produced with American animators, including some of the production staff of Lilo & Stitch - La série (2003).
Due to the American animators' involvement, the show was initially produced in English. It was then dubbed in Mandarin Chinese and that dub aired first in March 2017. The original English version would not see release until February 2018.
The fourth time Erica Mendez and Laura Post have worked together in this case being a younger sister and an older sister, the previous collaborations were Love Live (2012) as side characters, Kiru ra kiru: KILL la KILL (2013) as a protagonist and a main antagonist, and L'école des petites sorcières (2017) as a protagonist and a deuteragonist, the former is not from Studio Trigger as well this being their first collaboration that is not an anime series.
This is Disney's first full-length (22-minute episodes) television series to make its American debut on DisneyNow rather than one of Disney's own TV networks, although it was listed as a Disney Channel series on the service nonetheless.
