Netflix has shared the official trailer for A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which will launch on the streaming service on August 1, 2024.

Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. Case closed. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it. But smart and single-minded Pip Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure, and she’s determined to prove it.

And if Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth? A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is based on the hugely successful New York Times bestselling mystery YA novel by Holly Jackson.

The cast includes Emma Myers (Netflix’s Wednesday and Family Switch), Zain Iqbal, Anna Maxwell Martin, Gary Beadle, Mathew Baynton, India Lillie Davies, Rahul Pattni, Henry Ashton, Mitu Panicucci, Orla Hill, and Ephraim O.

Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday Addams’ werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair on the Netflix series Wednesday, has signed on to star in the BBC series adaptation of the Holly Jackson novel A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (pick up a copy Here). Myers is taking on the role of Pip Fitz-Amobi. Smart and single minded, she isn’t sure about whether, five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. But if Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder was the first in a series of three novels. The other two books in the series are Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good as Dead.

Dolly Wells, who is primarily known for her acting roles, will be directing the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series.

Paramount+ and Tving‘s Korean series “Bargain” has won the critics’ choice award at the Seriencamp Festival in Cologne. In April, “Bargain” became the first-ever Korean series to win best screenplay at the Canneseries Festival in France.

The series stars actors Jun Jong-seo (“Money Heist: Korea”) and Jin Seon-kyu (“Extreme Job”) and is an adaptation of director Lee Chung-hyun’s 2015 short film of the same name. Director Jun Woo-sung, who was part of the production team of the short, picked up the story and developed it into a six-part series. “Bargain” revolves around a group of strangers who gather at a remote motel with ulterior motives – seeking to bargain. Unlike the original film, the series follows the characters after an unexpected earthquake traps them inside the building. With no one to trust, they must find a way to survive.

UK actress and filmmaker Dolly Wells has co-written and directed the pilot episode of whodunnit Little Room during lockdown with her family in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

With an ensemble cast led by Brian Cox, Claes Bang (with whom Wells co-starred in the mini-series Dracula), Antonia Campbell-Hughes and Grace Van Patten, Little Room was filmed entirely remotely by all cast and crew, including Wells’ co-writers and directors Suzi Ewing and Heidi Greensmith, and producer and creator of the project Maggie Monteith.

Mark Jenkin’s breakout hit Bait and Shelly Love’s pregnancy drama A Bump Along The Way are among the 16 titles longlisted for the Raindance Discovery award at this year’s British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs).

The 16 films will be whittled down to five nominated titles by Bifa voters and announced next week (Oct 30) alongside the other Bifa nominations.

Friendships rarely start on terms more passive-aggressive than an intergenerational one does in “Good Posture,” writer-director Dolly Wells’ roughly drafted feature debut that manages to be just affable enough. Navigating the bookish streets of New York again after playing a kindhearted bookstore owner in “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” — this time, behind the camera in present-day Brooklyn — Wells swaddles her film with her soft artistic spirit; an aura she also infused into Marielle Heller’s melancholic drama. The result is a genial slice-of-life comedy, a female-driven, late-coming-of-age tale in the tradition of Lynn Shelton’s “Laggies,” exclusively brewed and bottled among the tree-lined sidewalks of Bed-Stuy.

While sufficiently charming, “Good Posture” would have been mostly unremarkable if it weren’t for sensational “The Meyerowitz Stories” actor Grace Van Patten, who plays recent college graduate Lilian, an entitled and thoroughly privileged brat who hides her aimless existence behind her noticeable beauty.

Exclusive: Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher) is set for a major recurring role opposite Kyle Gallner in CBS All Access’ straight-to-series true-crime drama Interrogation.

Co-created by Swedish writer-producer Anders Weidemann and John Mankiewicz, Interrogation is an original concept based on a true story that spanned more than 30 years, in which a young man (Gallner) was charged and convicted of brutally murdering his mother.

The series’ first nine episodes will be available to binge in any order with each episode structured around an interrogation. The multi-linear approach will give viewers the opportunity to follow their instincts and develop their own interpretations of the facts of the case and ultimately decide innocence or guilt. The season finale will be released at a later date.

Moss-Bachrach plays a close friend of Kyle Gallner’s character — a heavy drug user with a violent streak. With secrets of his own, he finds himself entangled in the murder investigation.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival has announced its full feature film lineup for this year’s edition of the Manhattan festival, running April 24 – May 5. This year, the program has reached a new milestone: gender parity across its three competition sections. Standout offerings include new films from Lara Jean Gallagher, Mark Webber, Cindy Meehl, Lesley Chilcott, Cenk Erturk, and Anne Fontaine.

The Diary Of A Teenage Girl director Marielle Heller's latest film, Can You Ever Forgive Me?, stars Melissa McCarthy as Lee Israel and is based on Israel's autobiography with a screenplay co-written by Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty (original book for Michael Mayer's Head Over Heels and Tony winner for Avenue Q). In the second half of my conversation at the Whitby with Dolly Wells, who plays Anna, a bookshop owner who befriends Lee, we explore the nature of their relationship.
