Guy Maddin is singular enough that the lending of his talents to another, far-younger director’s work perks up the ears. But one can understand such affinity within seconds of Dylan Greenberg’s The Triangular Door, a short whose form and tone are likewise indebted to cinema of yesteryear––in this case the New American Cinema of Jack Smith, George and Mike Kuchar, or Robert Downey Sr. After screening at the Tallahassee Film Fest and Nitehawk Cinema, and ahead of a presentation at Mix Festival and screening at Quad Cinema next month, we’re pleased to exclusively debut Greenberg’s project starring Adam Green of the Moldy Peaches.
Greenberg has already moved on to a feature debut, Spirit Riser, which will begin a Spectacle run on November 15 after premiering this spring in the Museum of the Moving Image’s Disreputable Cinema series, while also screening at PhilaMOCA and Nitehawk; the...

Spirit Riser is the seventh movie by New York-based filmmaker Dylan Mars Greenberg, and Screen Rant has a mind-bending clip to share from the experimental horror. The movie tells the story of two sisters who are thrown to opposite coasts of America by a cosmic entity, and must find a way to reunite. Along the way, they discover supernatural abilities and encounter a menagerie of strange characters.
Screen Rant is excited to present a clip from Spirit Riser highlighting Sydney Ryder, played by Summer Greenberg, as she is pursued by a mind-bending being. The clip itself is a perfect example of the avant-garde movie's unique aesthetic, cinematography, and creature design, and gives viewers a hint of what to expect from the full film. If the clip above piques your interest, you can get Spirit Riser on Blu-ray now. Those in New York...

Hunting for the Hag begins with Tara sitting across the table from a rather sceptical lawyer who keeps telling her the footage on her laptop won’t help her out of the mess she’s in. She reminds him that he was the one who contacted her, and if he doesn’t actually watch the footage, or she’s leaving.
The footage also begins with Tara, noticeably lacking the facial scar she had in the opening scenes, introducing herself as we find out that she, along with her friends Beth and Candy are setting out to get footage of the entity known as The Hawthorne Hag (Nathan Brandon Gaik; Dead Bodies Everywhere).
You might be thinking that it sounds like, director Paul A. Brooks and co-writer...
