"Blending childhood nostalgia with creeping horror, T.A.M.A. asks a chilling question familiar to anyone who’s ever forgotten an old toy: what if that neglected digital pet came back… and it wasn’t happy?"
Panick Entertainment is releasing the first of six T.A.M.A. issues on on August 6th, but we have an exclusive preview for Daily Dead readers, with pages and a trailer you can check out right now!
"The story follows Kit, a teen grappling with grief and isolation, who stumbles across an outdated virtual pet system and unexpectedly finds emotional solace in a creature named Tama. But when disturbing, unexplained deaths begin occurring around him, Kit starts to wonder: is his newfound companion more than just a comforting pixelated pal? What begins as a connection between boy and beast soon spirals into something far more sinister, as the boundaries between digital and real-world violence begin to blur.

A fan-favorite choice for the role of Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s slowly emerging Dcu has expressed interest in joining the comic book movie franchise as the Amazonian superhero. At present, little is known about Gunn and his DC Studios co-ceo Peter Safran’s plans for Wonder Woman, with the iconic hero glimpsed in animated form in the Creature Commandos series and a prequel series titled Paradise Lost reportedly in the works.
The lack of insight into their ideas includes a total lack of knowing who will play Wonder Woman and thus take over from Gal Gadot when the character does make her Dcu debut. Well, one fan-casting favorite, Hit Man star Adria Arjona, has now expressed interest in the coveted role. Footage shared by YouTuber and X/Twitter user @yara_wayne finds Arjona being asked about the potential of her playing Wonder Woman, to which she responds with...

In the DC Universe, one of the most fan-beloved characters of all time, especially among the superheroes, is none other than Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman. For years, the iconic character has amused fans worldwide, and previously, Gal Gadot ensured fans felt the same way about her. But now the times have changed, and James Gunn holds the reigns to the Dcu.
That said, now that Gadot has ostensibly left the mantle behind for other younger actresses to take on the role, Gunn has a really hard decision waiting ahead for him. This is because the current debate is raging between actresses Adria Arjona and Jessica Green with respect to the potential candidate to replace Gadot, and choosing one might not be the easiest task for the co-ceo.

Warfare co-directors Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland explain the personal inspiration for making the Iraq War film. Serving as Garland's follow-up to Civil War (2024), Warfare chronicles the experiences of one Navy Seal platoon in Ramada, Iraq, with memory serving as the basis of the story. For Mendoza, who is a former Navy Seal, the upcoming movie marks his feature film debut as a director after serving as a military or technical advisor on projects like Civil War, The Terminal List (2022), The Outpost (2019), and Lone Survivor (2013).
In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Garland and Mendoza talk about Warfare's origins, with the co-directors revealing that the movie stems from a fortuitous aligning of creative goals. While Garland was interested in recreating a real event as accurately as possible on film, Mendoza's motivation was far more personal. For the former Seal, making the movie was a way of conveying what happened...

Orlando Bloom has jumped in the driver’s seat for a new gig — as the face of Porsche Design.
As the brand’s new ambassador, the 48-year-old actor models both timepieces and eyewear in a campaign released this week, and he calls the opportunity “a great honor.”
“From our first conversation, I was excited about the idea of a partnership,” Bloom said in a statement. “I immediately sensed that the Porsche Design team and I share a mutual passion for great design and a similar mindset. The brand has a unique way of translating the unmistakable design and timeless elegance of icons like the Porsche 911 into lifestyle products. This blend of sports car-inspired aesthetics, unique heritage, and exclusive lifestyle truly fascinates me. It’s exciting to now be part of this success story.”

This Star-Studded War Movie With 91% on Rotten Tomatoes Delivers Unforgettable Tension and Sacrifice
Although war films have always been popular as a genre, there has been much more hesitation in crafting adaptations of recent events. Audiences flocked to historical war epics like Oppenheimer and 1917, as they are removed enough from the actual historical events that they don’t pass as much judgment in the way that the films interpret history. This leniency is not always afforded to films that deal with subjects such as the Afghanistan War, as many viewers lived through the conflict as it was emerging, and have already shaped their opinions on what the conflict’s ramifications were. Although it was sadly denied a proper theatrical rollout due to shutdowns related to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, The Outpost is a powerful recreation of modern military tragedy that pays respect to the heroes whose lives were lost.

It has been a while since we’ve seen Wonder Woman in theatres, and it is such a shame that we never got to see the planned third installment with Gal Gadot in the lead. With James Gunn’s revamped franchise, DC Universe will introduce a new future for the character, and that goes with the fact that we are getting a new star for the role.

Quick Links Bloom Didn't Like the Sound of Pirates of the Caribbean Bloom Originally Auditioned For Faramir in The Lord of the Rings Bloom First Met a Lord of the Rings Cast Member on His Flight to New Zealand
Orlando Bloom's career really took off with The Lord of the Rings, shortly followed by Pirates of the Caribbean. Although both were fantasy, his roles as Legolas and Will Turner were vastly different and showed a range of his performing skills. Each franchise was spread over a number of years, allowing Bloom to take on other work in between. In 2004, he appeared in the epic historical war film Troy alongside Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, and fellow Lord of the Rings actor Sean Bean. 2013 took him to a crime-thriller called Zulu, which also starred Forest Whitaker, before reprising his role as Legolas and performing in the second Hobbit movie, The Desolation of Smaug,...

In /Film's review of "Guy Ritchie's The Covenant," the critic (yours truly) made passing reference to the fact that the film was based on a real-life story, and stated that army sergeant John Kinley, the role played by Jake Gyllenhaal in the movie, was a real person. This wasn't accurate. While the film was extrapolated from a patchwork of actual events and experiences that happened during the Afghanistan war, it was not a direct biography of any one person in particular. As it happens, there is no actual person named John Kinley who fought in Afghanistan. The error has been corrected.
"The Covenant" is about how Kinley was assigned a battle-capable interpreter named Ahmed (Dar Salim) to help him and his platoon locate Taliban bomb-making facilities. During a raid gone awry, Kinley and Ahmed find themselves the only survivors left, trekking deep into Taliban territory. When Kinley is injured, Ahmed...

Last month, to my great surprise, I raved about a Guy Ritchie movie, “Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre,” as an exhilarating exception to the rule of Ritchie’s style-over-substance, more-frosting-than-cake school of crime-thriller grandiloquence. The film bombed, and more critics than not disagreed with me. But I stand by my assessment of “Operation Fortune” as a diabolically entertaining screwball action-espionage caper. If you want to talk about exceptions to the rule, though, that movie has nothing on the new Guy Ritchie film, which is called (wait for it) “Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant.”
Ritchie’s name was reportedly added to the title because there is already a film in existence called “The Covenant.” But that sounds like an awfully thin reason to suddenly convert Ritchie into a marquee legend, and, in fact, there’s a better reason. Against all odds, he has become one of the best directors working. “The Covenant...

Exclusive: Actor-producer Cory Hardrict has set Conmen as the first feature to be produced under his Hardcor Films banner, after completing 30% of a $100M capital raise through Veritas Gold Productions’ Perennial Film Fund to support an upcoming slate of 10-15 productions.
Hardrict will star opposite Neil Brown Jr. in Conmen, which is one of four films he intends to make through Hardcor this year. The upcoming feature to be directed by Mike Tiddes will watch as two Black conmen take on the guise of FBI agents in order to rip off a heroin-dealing Klansman and his Sheriff’s son. Brown and Robert McEveety wrote the script. Ryan Lewis is also attached to produce the pic, with Brown co-producing. Hardrict will look to raise the remaining capital for his slate over the next three to four years, in concert with Veritas principals Harold Whitfield and Martin Scruggs.

There’s a whole lot of ammo going blammo over the course of “One Shot,” an action movie couched as a battle in real time between Navy SEALs and insurgents on a U.S.-controlled, Guantanamo-style island detention facility, presented in what appears to be a single, continuous shot.
Of course, as in other recent films like “Birdman” and “1917,” the “real time” is an illusion created by hard-to-detect editing together of several long, elaborately blocked individual shots — this movie was shot in 20 days, not 90 minutes. Still, director James Nunn’s reunion with star Scott Adkins does effectively use that device to heighten immediacy in an effort that may not transcend their usual B-grade, adrenaline-fueled macho fare, but does bring some welcome novelty to the genre.

Fox touched down strong in Thursday primetime with its Thursday Night Football matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks, which saw the former earn a 26-17 victory on Fox.
Per Nielsen fast affiliates, the game drew in a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.15 million viewers, easily surpassing the rest of the night’s programming. Of course, as with major live events, numbers are set to rise pending adjustment.
Coming in second overall is the Season 6 premiere of Young Sheldon, which drew in the highest numbers for non-sports programming. The sitcom had a near-identical performance Thursday to its Season 4 finale back in May and rose from that season’s opener in November 2020.
Also coming in steady for its new season was United States of Al. The comedy, which opened its sophomore season incorporating the crisis in Afghanistan and the fall of Kabul, was steady...

The best days are in the past for ABC's Grey's Anatomy.
Grey's Anatomy Season 18 Episode 2 picked up 3.9 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the demo -- down a tenth vs. last week's fast national numbers.
The show also dipped around 700,000 viewers week-to-week.
Station 19 also took a big hit, but it's harder to judge the numbers for the spin-off because last week was a crossover.
The show managed 4.1 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.
Big Sky also dipped, coming down to 2.7 million viewers and a 0.3 rating.
Over on NBC, Svu came down a bit in a later slot. The long-running drama series managed 3.7 million total viewers and a 0.6 rating.
The spinoff, Organized Crime, then had 3.1 million viewers and a 0.5 rating, leading the slot.
Over on CBS, the season premieres of Young Sheldon (6.9 million viewers/0.7 rating) and United Staes of Al had decent numbers.
Bull returned on a new night with 4.1 million viewers and a 0.3 rating.

In a big night full of premieres for ABC, NBC took the ratings crown with the latest episode of Law & Order: Svu. The latest episode of the NBC drama was the highest-rated program of Thursday primetime, taking in a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.71 million viewers, per fast affiliates. The NBC series was slightly down from last week’s premiere , but slightly outshined the Season 5 debut of Station 19, among others.
NBC retention was pretty steady with the two-hour installment of Law & Order: Organized crime dropping only one tenth and about 10% in viewers from its lead-in.
Despite falling short from Law & Order: Svu in ratings, the Station 19 premiere did top Thursday’s viewers, providing the Season 18 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, which welcomed back a familiar face, with a steady foundation. The erosion continues for ABC's Grey's Anatomy.
The highly-anticipated Season 18 debut had 4.6 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo.
This is down from last season's premiere (5.9 million/1.5 rating), average (5.2 million/1.0 rating), and finale (4.8 million/0.8 rating).
The series probably still commands healthy gains in post-airdate viewing, but still, these numbers are a far cry from the show's heyday.
It's likely we are approaching the end of the line for the series.
Station 19 returned with 4.8 million viewers and a 0.7 rating -- down from last season's premiere, but on par with last season's finale.
The true test will be in the weeks to come when there are no crossovers with the parent series.
It was beaten in the demo by Svu.
Big Sky returned with its second debut at 3.1 million viewers and a 0.4 rating -- down from its series debut, but on par with what it was doing at midseason.
