A timely immersive look into a community's perseverance

Filmed over what seemed to be over years, Micropubs allows for a very immersive look into that community characters, the process they have to go through and their motivation and spirit. The optimisation of independent ingenuity persisting through the resistance of the councils or other sources depicts excessive tensions and conflicts. And, the resilience of these characters is inspiring and truly encouraging. The film also feels extremely timely, not only through the eyes of this year's pandemic with the perseverance of independent communities through lack of clarity and coherence from the government. But also from a post-Brexit country, where the future is uncertain, fearful of vanishing way of life and where we're starting really think what we want our country to be, and what community means and the importance of them.

This Documentary has some great stories.

I love when you sit down to watch something that could potential be so niche that you are lost from the outset. Thankfully Micropubs isn't that type of film. It has great stories of people who want to give to their communities and best of all provide local artisan and craft beer and not the mass produced stuff that the big brands and chains push as quality beer...

The stories of the people who set up these pubs are diverse and inspiring, especially when confronted with the fears of locals and local councils.

A highly recommended film for lovers of Stories, which this has in abundance.

Very insightful!

Really enjoyed this documentary! Seeing the obstacles that the growing Micropub and craft beer scene faces made me cheer on the owners that are paving the way for this revolution. As an American it made we want to hop on a plane immediately to go hang out in each and every one of these spots!

Really interesting subject, great direction and cinematography, highly recommended!

An excellent, informative and enjoyable film

An excellent, informative and enjoyable film and a real eyeopener as to why so many larger pubs are going to the wall mainly due to greed on the part of developers.

Having visited a couple of micropubs they definitely foster and encourage the art of conversation and sense of community. Hopefully the trend will extend to other parts of the country.

Warm and Beguiling Documentary about Micropubs in U.K.

This pitch perfect account of the Micropub Movement is a timely reminder that great ideas have a life of their own. We hear from Martyn, who developed the idea of small, local, real ale pubs. We learn why they encourage conversation and discover how communities need such places. Beautifully shot with sensitive interviewing and great editing, this is an absorbing account, not of scandal, or ambition on any great scale, but ordinary people building social hubs for themselves and for their local community. We see how Micropubs intersect with Microbreweries and how they bring streets and villages back to life with somewhere to meet, to celebrate and enjoy a fine pint. I enjoyed every minute.
