In preparation for the film, director Sean Roberts recommended that the cast and crew watch The Strangers, Just Before Dawn, The Thing and Green Room.
Principal Photography took place over the course of 12 days in June 2018.

The film is loosely inspired by the 2016 clown sightings that plagued rural communities across America.
