I really like this show!

I really enjoyed watching that show. I think that people have to appreciate it for what it is, a lighthearted rom-com. Sometimes after a stressful day at work you just wanna grab a glass of wine and watch a show that isn't heavy. This was perfect.

Really enjoyable!

I really enjoy this series, I feel that the characters are more real and the stories are interesting; love that they include other cultures traditions in some scenes. A lot of episodes are full of heart, really enjoy the funeral episode, it even make me cry a little bit.

But I still don't see the connection to the 90s movie 😂

Refreshing, witty and, though predictable, entertaining

As many have stated, this mini series is a second cousin at best to the original film. I, however, see nothing wrong with that for it is utterly entertaining.

Rom-Com fans will LOVE!

I love this show! I felt like I needed to write a review to lessen the poorer reviews. If you're a die-hard rom com fan as well as a Mindy Kaling follower, you'll love this. I am both and can't get enough of this show! I love the references to other Romantic movies and shows, I love the pacing, I love the characters. Is it a perfect, for everyone show? No. But if you love romance and cheesy 20s-30s life living stories, watch it. It'll be great!

Just awful

The original film doesn't really stand the test of time, but has some great moments. This series has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. You will cringe out of embarrassment for everyone involved when listening the the dialogue, the oldest jokes in the world and the abject lack of talent . Right now it is three 'ten" star ratings (obviously marketing people for the series shilling) and three ratings of one or two stars (actual legit viewers).

It gets better every episode!

Give it a chance! I started watching it thinking it would be another cheesy show but Mindy Kailing never disappoints. It is a great show with great potential. Although it is way different than the 1994 film, the story is refreshing with great acting. Nathalie Emmanuel is amazing and I can't wait for more épisodes.

Sigh

Six stars is the best I can give this and it's a stretch. They are billing this as based on the film "Four Weddings and a Funeral" but I don't see the connection at all unless you count the brief appearance of Andie MacDowell. I think this series was made for those in the late teens and early 20's. Definitely summer fare. And still more then 2 months until premiere time for the fall. Sigh

I actually love it

I decided to watch it because it was on top of my "watch now" on Hulu. Honestly, the story is adorable. I think the acting is very good and I fell in love with the characters. The only thing (and the reason I'm giving it a 9) is it isn't over the top funny. You get some good chuckles in every once and a while. The funniest characters are Kash's Dad and friend by far. But honestly, I think it has great potential. Sometimes watching something light can be really enjoyable.

Good show with issues

Some cast members are really good but the biggest problem is the main character of Maya is just so unlikeable and pompous. The political stuff ruined the mostly good personal stuff. Best character for me was Jemma, very nuanced. And Ansley did a great job too.

So bad

The priest in episode 1 sums it up best "Horrible. Just Horrible!" Dumbed down for the dumb audience of today, and just filled to the brim with unlikeable characters. Four Horrible Americans And A Funeral For This Series - Hopefully.

Dope.

I loved four weddings and a funeral (the movie) and historically, rebooting a movie as a series doesn't work out, so I was sceptical but I have to say, dope! That really is just the word for it. It keeps getting better! The show improved a lot on the movie and incorporated aspects of the world today that make it undeniably relatable. Mindy Kaling really outdid herself on this one.

Witless and Empty Headed Waste of Time

I stumbled onto this series today, and have watched episodes 1 and 3 (2 sounded boring) and I'm done. This is one of the worst adaptations of a film to series I've ever seen, and it is mind boggling Richard Curtis had anything to do with it.

There's a reason the film is so loved; it has heart, charm, wit, laughter and tragedy, all mixed together in an artful way. It has Hugh Grant, Charles, stammeringly expressing his love for Carrie, Andie McDowell (who makes a ghastly appearance here), via the words of a song David Cassidy was famous for. It has great writing. This series has characters so arch, paper-thin and dishwater-dull I nearly wept, I'm not kidding.

Mindy Kaling has a product, and it's ridiculous, vapid, BS like this, with no idea how to keep the tone of the film and update it to 2019. I'm staggeringly insulted by this dog and pony show trading on the title of the film to sell it.

2 stars for some nice scenery of London.

Better than expected but not as good as it could have been

I think the main problem is that this series is too long for it's own good. It's 10 long episodes. It should have been six episodes - eight at the very most. Some of the episodes are also overlong, almost an hour without commercials. Plot points large and small just drag on and on and take forever to get where you know they are going because it's a rom-com people. You know where it's ultimately going and how it's going to end. The fun is seeing how they get there. But they should have gotten there much quicker overall. The cast is pretty good all around. There are one or two major characters in the ensemble that are so irritating in practically every scene - and it's unclear if they were written/directed that way or if it's the actors. But other than that, it's totally Mindy Kaling, Matt Warburton, and Tracey Wigfield's show. If you know and love their past projects, you will find something here to like as well! Plus there are some cute throwbacks to the original movie and other Richard Curtis projects. I'd recommend viewing the show, but just remember, it's kind of like a marathon. It's great and exciting in the beginning, then you get kind of tired. But then there's a burst of adrenaline at the end and it's great again!

Brilliantly self-aware

This show is hilarious. Kaling is purposefully referencing all of the great rom-com tropes and it's brilliant. So much fun to watch.

Watch more than one episode

I found that the first episode was the worst of the bunch. The writing wasn't all there and the acting seemed off, like they hadn't found their rhythm and chemistry. I'm really glad I stuck with it. The characters become deeper and easier to like. There are so many joyful moments, sweet moments and downright funny ones. It really put a smile on my face and helped pick me up after a hard day at work. There are a few weak moments towards the end as well but overall I really enjoyed the series.

I love this show!

I enjoy the cast and their approach to this Title that was so loved by many. I love its approach to friendship, love and fun. It makes me laugh, smile and hope. It's relaxing, funny and I love, love the characters. Sorry, not sorry its not suppose to be the movie. :)

Another Lazy Remake

I can almost hearing the gears painfully grinding: "That ancient movie was so-o-o popular with those nasty old people. But we're young, hip, and way cooler. Ripping off that movie and remaking it with us would make it totally AWESOME!" Plus - movies without one of each ethnicities must not be allowed. I'm beginning to wonder how much Kaling really had to do with my favorite all-time tv show The Office. Because nothing I've seen involving her has been funny.

It's simple

My husband and I watch this since there is very little on television other than home renovating shows and reality crap. We love our HBO and Crave but after Shameless, Succession (delight) and with the Affair over, there really isn't much left on tv. That's why we are doing the new Apple TV and anything else we can find. It's cute, it's simple and your brain won't even turn on but you can enjoy it all the same. People are pretty and wear very expensive clothing and live in very nice homes.

Four terrible actors & an awful show

This is so terrible, the acting is the worst I've seen in a long time, especially by the American cast. The English actors are either over exaggerated posh or total chavs. It's basically like watching a crap version of Made in Chelsea

Better than expected

I actually really like this show. It's funny, love the British humour. It probably can't go further than season one because of what it's about but I'm really enjoying it.

Perfectly hilarious show...Why is it over?!

I watch a lot of TV...A LOT. As a semi-depressed single mom, I haven't laughed this hard or sat up and felt "high school butterflies" like this, until I watched this show. Please bring it back! <3. - Kristen Susemihl.
