The first trailer for psychological horror movie The Portrait asks this very question, setting the stage for a hallucinatory trip that sees its lead questioning her own mind. Now, Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive clip that looks back at a handful of tragedies.

The psychological ghost story is written by David Griffiths (The Hunted) and will mark the feature directorial debut for Simon Ross.

In the film, “After her husband is devastated by a tragic accident, a devoted wife obsesses over a mysterious portrait that resembles him as he was, but when it starts to terrorize her, she must decide if it’s possessed or if she’s losing her mind.”

The Portrait stars Natalia Cordova-Buckley (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Bates Motel”), Ryan Kwanten (Glorious, “True Blood”), Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen (Candyman), Mark-Paul Gosselaar (“The Passage”) and Isidora Goreshter (Clara’s Ghost).

The Portrait was produced by Christian de Gallegos Films.

For nearly 15 years, Josh Ruben had been working in the industry making a name for himself on a variety of projects, but despite finding success in the world of comedy and a steady stream of commercial work, he still felt like something was missing. Eventually, Josh arrived at a crossroads, both personally and professionally, and decided it was time to get out there and start telling stories on his terms.

HBO Max has set the cast for the drama pilot “Red Bird Lane,” with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon set to star.

Along with Sarandon, Kiersey Clemons, Isidora Goreshter, Danny Huston, Ash Santos, Fiona Dourif, Dizzie Harris, and Tara Lynne Barr will also star.

The show is described as a psychological thriller about eight strangers who arrive at an isolated house — all for different reasons — and quickly realize that something sinister and terrifying awaits them.

Sarandon will play the hostess of the house, Catherine. She is brilliant, beautiful, magnetic, and a murderer.

Sarandon is a five-time Oscar nominee, having won the award for best actress for “Dead Man Walking.” She has also been nominated for nine Golden Globes as well as six Emmys. I kept hearing some good things about this but haven't had a chance to catch up with it yet. Set over the course of a single evening in the Reynolds family home in suburban Connecticut, Clara's Ghost tells the story of Clara Reynolds who, fed up with her self-absorbed showbiz family, finds some solace in and guidance from the supernatural force that she believes is haunting her. The film stars Abby Elliott, Bridey Elliott, Chris Elliott, Isidora Goreshter, Haley Joel Osment, and introducing Paula Niedert Elliott as Clara. Orion Classics has picked up North American and Latin American rights to Bridey Elliott’s Sundance drama Clara's Ghost.

Orion, recently relaunched by MGM as a multiplatform distribution label, will release the comedic mystery — featuring members of the Chris Elliott clan, including Saturday Night Live alum and comedian daughter Abby and actor-filmmaker Bridey — this fall in theaters and on VOD and Digital HD.
