Was not expecting this? A movie, tongue in cheek, basically targeted very adeptly at the underground Horror Cult Fans. Winning 92 global awards, 214 nominations and in process of filming 'Grinders Too' I hear. Long dissertations from people who do not understand this target market is understandable as they are not in it.
This movie is a mad romp through, blood, sweat and some tears but mostly laughter. How can people be so stupid? But they are out there. Its starts with a bang, literally, by accident and turns into a lucrative enterprise for two half brother who are playing with a half deck of cards. Absurdity and scares abound. If you enjoy the underground genre of Dark Humor, you cant miss this one. Well thought out and produced.

How many more of these jack of all trades master of none movies must we be subjected to?
Why is it that people think that they can write, direct and act in the same film?
And how is it that they get these projects funded?
If you act, please act and do not direct nor write.
If you write, please write and do not act nor direct.
If you direct, please direct and do not act nor write.
Attempts at doing all three are nothing more than a sad attempt at stroking your ego and getting more titles in the credits.
The script was poor at best, not in the least bit original nor creative. It lacked flair and was simply not well done.
The acting, was over the top, uninteresting and self glorifying. Same guy wrote roles that he then acted and self directed.
Bad idea.
Sets and sounds were ok.
Editing was clumsy.
Over all a 2 score at best and not a cult classic worthy of a 9 score. Maybe 12 Angry Men can be considered a cult classic. But to score this a 9 is simply wrong.
Please stop producing movies like this. It is the reason why Hollywood is dying and films like this are just another nail in its coffin.
Three months ago, one of the most accomplished directors of our time, Francis Coppola with a string of very successful films, decided that he was a writer all of a sudden. The result, a 125 Million Dollar flop called Megapolis. And why it failed, because no one told Francis that the script was really bad and that someone else should have directed it.
This film is no different. One person thought they could do all three roles and the end result was painful to watch at best.
Over the top acting, no emotional investment in any one character and directing that lacked any originality.
Pick one career and stick to it.

Without ever having heard about the 2023 horror comedy "Grinders", from writer and director Andrew Heller, I opted to watch it, as I stumbled upon it here in 2025. I will say that the synopsis for the movie sounded interesting.
And talk about a swing and a miss of a movie. I found absolutely not enjoyment or entertaining in this dumpster fire. I cannot fathom what writer and director Andrew Heller was thinking when he concocted this abysmal thing that passed as a script.
But of course, when you have a movie that is written, directed and starring the one and the same person, it is usually not a stellar movie. And "Grinders" was not the movie to change that opinion, because it was a stinker.
Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list here. But I can't claim to be the least bit impressed with the performances, as they were rigid, wooden and most of the time felt and sounded like the actors and actresses were struggling to read from cue cards. So yeah, you're not in for any award-winning performances here, should you opt to waste 76 minutes on watching this travesty of a movie.
If you enjoy horror comedies, do yourself a massive favor and go find something else to watch. "Grinders" simply isn't worth the effort.
My rating of writer and director Andrew Heller's 2023 movie "Grinders" lands on a one out of ten stars.

This is an oddly playful take on the slasher films from the past. A unique dark comedy that is sure to become a cult classic. The opening is a brilliant shot that will make you want to see how this story unravels. Do the brothers Rakestraw get away with their gruesome crimes? Who will be their next victim? The Rakestraw brothers will captivate you with their ineptitude and just plain dumb luck. This tongue in cheek this film is gruesomely funny. The independent cult film is alive and kicking with Grinders. Don't analyze it to hard, just pop some popcorn, crack a brew, have a seat and watch it, have fun.
GRINDERS even to my own surprise is a quirky, easily put together comedic-horror film made on an incredibly low budget.
Did Andrew, cast and crew expect an academy award? NO but with 90 Awards and 192 Nominations, distributed in multiple countries, translated in so far 19 languages for what it is, is outstanding. Streaming on Vimeo, Amazon, and others.. There is noticeably a couple of infantile pot stirrers who wish to interact with toxic, nonsensical reviews who prefer sharing ill informed commentary. Simply make up your own mind and appreciate it for what it is. Worth the many organic 10 out of 10 reviews.
